Marvel is going to break me

By the time you made it down to the medbay you saw Peter sitting on his usual gurney with his mask off and a small slash across his chest. You could see the pain he was in by the way his eyebrows were scrunched together and the slight watering of his eyes. “What happened?” You asked as walked up to him and leaned closer to take a better look at how deep the cut was. You grabbed some gauze from a nearby tray and started to apply pressure to the cut. “Hold it,” you said as you grabbed Peter’s hand and put it up to the gauze, “that is definitely gonna need stitches.”

“There was a old lady walking home all alone and this crazy dude just started yelling at her for money. I think he was homeless or on drugs or something. But anyway, I was just trying to deescalate the situation and help her get home safely when the dude pulled a knife on me out of nowhere!”

“That’s illegal babe, people can’t do that,” you joked as you grabbed a local anesthetic to give Peter to easy the pain before you started stitching him up.

“Haha. It would be funnier if I wasn’t bleeding from my chest, but well played,” Peter replied. “Anyway, I didn’t see the knife coming in time and well…” You gave him the injection as he talked before grabbing the rest of what you would need and a tetanus vaccination. You wanted to play it safe, because you didn’t even want to think about where that knife might have been.

After giving the anesthetic enough time to take effect and sterilizing the area around the wound you started sewing it closed. “So much for your spidey senses… I don’t think we can hide this one from my dad, Pete. Your suit needs serious repairs and while I can give you stitches, I can’t fix the suit,” you said to distract him.

“I figured,” Peter winced, “But maybe we can say it just cut the suit?”

“You expect him to believe some guy pulled a knife on you and you were lucky enough to only end up with a nip slip?” You deadpanned.

“You don’t think he’ll buy it?” Peter asked, holding back a laugh.

“You might as well just take off the suit anyway, I need to get to your arm to give you a tetanus shot. I’m pretty sure you have a spare set of pajamas around here somewhere from last time you spent the night,” you say with a wink as you grabbed him a change of clothes off a nearby shelf.

Peter laughed as he started pulling his suit off. “Why do you say that like we did something that Mr. Stark would kill me for? I sprained my ankle so we watched cartoons and ate ice cream all night.”

“And that was the most romantic night of my life-” you replied before you turned around and something on Peter’s inner bicep caught your eye. “Is that a tattoo?” You asked.

“No,” Peter answered too quickly. “I dunno what you’re talking about Y/n.”

“Peter, yes you do. Do you have a tattoo on your arm?” You asked again.

Peter was quiet for a moment before muttering a soft, “maybe…”

“When did you get it? What is it of?” You questioned. You were honestly surprised that Peter would get a tattoo without telling you first. Not that you were against it, if you had known you probably would have gotten something done too. You two were just so close; you were his girlfriend but also best friend, after Ned of course, so it took you by surprise that he kept this a secret from you.

“I don’t want to show it you…” Peter said, avoiding eye contact, “you’re gonna think it’s dumb.”

“Okay, now I have to see it.” you begged, but Peter stood his ground and shook his head. “I’m going to see it eventually, so just show me now so I don’t spontaneously combust from the suspense.”

Peter just signed deeply as he lifted his arm up to show you the tattoo, still refusing to meet your gaze.

You were silent for a long moment before you stuttered out, “Um, I-is th-that a… Spider-Man tattoo?”

Peter nodded and jumped to explain, “I didn’t pick it. Ned and I were hanging out after class last week and he challenged me to a couples rounds of the new Super Smash Bros and we wanted to make it more intense. The first game was just loser does the winner’s homework. We kept upping the stakes and I kept winning, so then when he threw out “loser gets a tattoo of the winner’s choice” I thought I had it in the bag. I was gonna make him get a spock tattoo, but he hustled me! Can you believe it?! He’s actually great at the game and he made me get a tattoo of myself!”

You put a hand over your mouth to try and hold in your laugh, but you just couldn’t. The whole situation was just too perfectly ridiculous. You were nearly doubled over laughing when Peter finally joined you. While he was still slightly upset over the whole tattoo, he had to appreciate the humor in it all. Plus he loved your laugh and your laugh always made him laugh.

After a couple of minutes the two of you calmed down enough for you to give Peter his tetanus shot. “Well, I mean if anyone ever accuses you of being Spider-Man you could just roll up your sleeve and be like ‘if I were Spider-Man would I get a tattoo of myself?’ It’s a decent way to throw someone off your trail.”

You pulled on Peter’s arm to take a longer look at it. “You’re taking proper care of it right?”

“Of course. I might have gotten it by losing a bet, but I’m not gonna let it get infected,” Peter replied.

“Good,” you said as you placed a soft kiss on the skin a little away from the tattoo. “Ya know, it’s growing on me already.”

Peter smiled at you as he rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah. Anyway not to bring us back to the reason I’m here but, I got knifed across the chest today so I’m gonna need like 70cc of cuddles and Netflix,” Peter said as he slid off the gurney and you followed him up to your room.
