Here’s the thing I learned doing pet first aid - you don’t want to take a long time doing this. Ideally, you’re checking for an obstruction while someone else is getting the car keys to get to the vet and calling ahead. This whole ‘position the cat properly and look to see if you can find the obstruction’ should take maybe 15 seconds at most. The compression another 15-20 - you want to do them quickly, but not so forcefully you hurt the cat further and you need to make sure each compression is completed before starting the next. This is a basic overview of how to help your pet, but really, if you can’t immediately see what the problem is, the best thing you can do is get to a vet.
