As of yesterday, it’s been three years since I lost my darling hellbeast. Been missing her a lot this week, so I selfishly indulged in vicarious hellbeast-snuggles through the DANDADAN crew and the Black Dog baby-girl from my last bit of DDD fanart. Who doesn’t love giant puppy cuddles? (Besides the grannies, though I think — deep down — they enjoy them. REALLY, really deep down.)

Gave my coloring classes an impromptu extra credit assignment based on an in-class discussion — ink and color your “insert fandom here”-sona — and I decided to join in on the fun. I’ve fallen down the WWE rabbit-hole thanks to one of my bestie, so I decided to do my wrestling-sona. I’m a heel whose gimmick is based on Missouri’s own Sasquatch, the Missouri Monster — a.k.a. Momo — and my walk-in music is Lady Gaga’s TEETH.

It’s that time of year again, folks! Mini Comics Expo is this Saturday, so I made a new mini to premiere at the best SEQA event of the year — and that’s saying something, since we’ve got so many amazing departmental events throughout the year!
Sorry this one isn’t a silly one — I was feeling a bit somber as the light faded this fall — but I hope y’all still enjoy it. You can pick up a print copy for $1 at my table on Saturday, along with a bunch of other cool comics and merch sold by our incredibly talented students and faculty.

New hyper-fixation incoming, y’all! Watched the first episode of DANDADAN this past weekend, saw the manga’s on Shonen Jump, and may or may not be caught up already. Love this campy, strange, sweet series — and its delightful cast of weirdos — a whole bunch. 👽👻💖
I’m late to the party, but I got into DOROHEDORO recently and it’s so perfect, y’all. It’s like it was genetically engineered in a lab just for me.

Had a blast playing around with a bunch of traditional media and adding some finishing touches in Clip Studio. It was a delight to draw the boy(s) at the heart of this weird, wonderful series by hand. Makes me want to draw comics traditionally again, so I’m gonna take a stab at doing so with some personal projects I’ve currently got in the hopper.
I’ll be spending this weekend hanging out at the best comic shop around — Neighborhood Comics, here in Savannah, GA — and y’all should join me!
On Saturday, I’ll be signing the new trade collection of CAMP BIGHOOF, (which I drew.) Drop into the shop any time between 11 AM to 1 PM!

Been missing my traditional media days, so I’m getting back into it via an “ugly” sketchbook. With so much focus these days on presenting only perfection on social media, I strongly feel every artist should have at least one sketchbook where they feel free to play, regardless of polish. So I’m trying to not just talk the talk I give to my students, but walk the walk as well.

The 16th (SIXTEENTH!) Annual SCAD Mini-Comics Expo is coming up next week, so I naturally had to make a new mini to celebrate. You can grab this lil’ cutie and my previous minis, (7 Signs You’re Being Haunted By Someone More Well-Adjusted Than You, Lesser Known Cryptids of Savannah GA, and Hasty Re-Draws of Original Art I Saw at Angoulême 2023,) for $1 at my table in the lobby of Adler Hall (532 Indian Street) on 11/11! The inaugural SAVage FST Mini-Comic and Zine Festival is less than two weeks away and I can’t believe my pie-in-the-sky daydream is about to become a reality!
One of my big 2023 projects has been developing and organizing a local festival for creators and fans of visual print culture: self-published and small press zines, alternative comics, mini-comics, the graphic arts — all the good stuff. I’m so thrilled that SAVage FST is coming to the streets of Savannah — specifically De Soto Ave., by Two Tides Brewing — on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

OGoA accompanied me for 3+ months on the road, from the Midwest to the south of France and back again to Georgia. I get to the end of what’s released & start it all over, because nothing’s scratching the same itch as this haunting, compelling, lovely show.
And none my friends or students listen, so I’ve no one to discuss it with.
Sigh.
