“Not gonna lie, buddy, while it’s good to see you-” And it is! It is. But the Guardians and the Avengers only ever seem to actually cross paths on a normal basis when there’s a big intergalactic cage match brewing. And that makes sense, it’s not like Quill and Co are gonna hang around on a little backwater like Earth (pardon - Terra - and as much as it pains Tony to admit it, he’s not wrong) waiting for something to happen. Humans, as a species, have only just reached that point where in a generation or two they’ll be ready to join the rest of the galaxy, but dangerous enough to make other civilizations leery of them, for good reason.
Drax, in particular, has always been a harbinger of doom with Tony, it’s how they even met in the first place.
He braces his hands on his hips and looks around, like if he peers hard enough into the middle distance he’ll see the trouble before it sees him. “-But you being here is not looking great for naptime. What, did Thanos slip his house arrest anklet again? Another rip on Battle Royale courtesy of the Collector? Little green men from Mars stole your sweetroll? You got caught lollygagging. I’m warm, right.”
he knew there was a ‘but’ incoming as soon as the terran opened his mouth to speak. it was not often that he and the iron man crossed paths, and most often there was indeed some imminent danger that effected both parties. head tilt slightly, listening to the words pour from the other. he and peter quill seemed to have that much in common at least. ❝ there is no peril incoming, iron man. ❞ yes, you heard him. there was no more mistaking him as iron pan.
❝ at least none we’re aware of. our stop here is short lived — peter quill considers this a pit stop. he would not give me reasons. ❞ he explains, arms folding across chest. ❝ i can’t say i blame you for your caution, considering our meetings in the past have only lead to battle. you have every right to check in. ❞
he supposed he was telling the truth, unless quill was hiding something from the rest of them. he does trust him, but he does know that he can be a bit secretive at times. the fact that he was being evasive as to why they were stopping here, of all places, was reason enough for drax to raise suspicion.
