What scent(s) do you associate with each Cullen? Not necessarily what canon demands (so no freesia for Bella or lilac for Edward) but what scents fit them aesthetically or from a character standpoint?
Esme and ginger. It can be a warm and comforting scent, like gingerbread or a ginger tea, but it also can be sharp and spicy at times. I have this candle that is white tea and ginger and it just gives me Esme vibes. Also fresh bread and the smell of new paint drying on a wall.
With Carlisle, I think of clean scents, like mint or sage, but also old books, smoke from unscented candles, a crisp fall breeze, faint incense in an old church.
Emmett is woodsy and earthy. Pine, and maybe maple? Perhaps a hint of chocolate and cinnamon. Just realized I might be thinking of Teddy Graham flavors. Whatever it was an honest response and I stand by it.
Rosalie obviously conjures flowers, given her name and her extreme beauty. Roses, naturally, thorns and all. The dewy scent of rain on the petals. But there's something tougher underneath it, oil and rust. Iron. And like Emmett and Esme maybe something like ginger or cinnamon, something that can be mild and pleasant or come on too strong.
Alice is a little floral in my head but more citrusy. A bright and sunny scent. Lemons and orange blossoms and sun tea.
With Jasper I think of leather, a dry summer breeze, maybe sandalwood.
Edward can be lilac, honey and sun, whatever. Lilac is one of my favorite scents and while I don't personally associate it with Edward I can't blame SM for picking it, it's amazing. He's so obviously SM's fantasy that it's hard for me to come up with a take on it without her influence. Pomegranate? Amber? Butterscotch? Laced with something bitter and a little sad; black tea that had steeped too long? Myrrh?
Bella is supposed to be floral too, freesia and lavender, the very embodiment of Persephone, goddess of the spring blossoms. But that's not really her vibe, is it? She's a desert girl. She's cactus blossoms, the smell of pavement after a rare rain, juicy watermelon to beat the Arizona heat. But then she moves to Forks and maybe her scent changes, it's more mossy, it's the scent in the air right before it rains. And freesia and lavender, I guess.
