“I don’t recall asking you to.” A lot of things had changed for Honey since the world had ended, but she hadn’t formed a fondness for alcohol. No, she thought she would leave that for the more desperate people.

“Just making sure you don’t get the idea to.” Kaleb would definitely fight someone for a bottle of alcohol, any time he would. It was something that came with being an addict he supposed.

“I like you already.” Kaleb stated with a smile on his face, prepared with booze was all he asked of people. He laughed at the man’s words and shrugged his shoulders, relaxing into the couch once more. “I guess I’m just a lucky bastard.”

     Christina arched an eyebrow, shaking her head, “I’m more of a bourbon girl. Tequila doesn’t seem to ease away reality as well as bourbon.”

“You just gotta drink more of it.” Kaleb shrugged before he took a swig of alcohol. He couldn’t help himself.

     “Wasn’t planning on it,” Marissa replied, peaking through the doorway. “It’s good to know you’re awake..”

“Obviously. I’m much more interesting awake than I am unconscious.” Kaleb stated with a small smile as he took a swig of the tequila.

“Not even if I say please?” Hale chuckled pulling out his own bottle that he had been lucky enough to nab and pouring himself a glass.

“Not even if you got on your knees and begged buddy.” Kaleb relaxed slightly wth a small chuckle following as he spotted the other guys bottle.

She had been scouting places for food. All she had found so far, was a bottle of water and a new shirt. Lux was tired from going house to house, so as she found this new one it made her feel oddly sleepy. Maybe she could rest for an hour or two. She entered the house cautiously when she cleared it or thought she had  she heard some stir in the room next door. She heard the voice before entering and relaxed. Once she saw the bottle of tequila, a laugh escaped her lips. “Who said I wanted some?”

“You wanna be sober? Be my guest because fuck that.” He was never a heavy drinker before the outbreak, he’d have a few beers every once in a while. He never had a reason to drink. Now? If Kaleb didn’t have alcohol flowing through his bloodstream it was hellish, his hands would shake, he would have a killer fever and sometimes when it got bad he’d see things that weren’t there. He was an addict, he couldn’t help it.

She marched inside where she had found him, taking the tequila and smashing the bottle against the wall. “What the hell are you doing in some abandoned cabin Kaleb?” she was looking for him, for days. It was like he disappeared and it scared the crap out of her.

Sighing heavily as he watched the bottle smash and the amber liquid seep down onto the floor, he could have fucking drank that. He would say it was way to early to have someone yell at him but truth be told he had no idea what time it was. Or what day it was, he lost track of that on his third night of passing out. He was certain he’d only gone on his drunken binge because he couldn’t cope with knowing his brother was actually dead. “I…have no fucking idea.”

He did not know which was more painful, the waking or the sleeping. When he slept, he dreamed: dark disturbing dreams of blood and broken promises. When he woke, there was nothing to do but think, and his waking thoughts were worse than nightmares.

A Cheyenne sunrise, Javier would be delighted if he never had to see one ever again. Apparently, he might get his chance soon. He hated this place, hated being stuck behind ugly concrete walls. He hated being told what to do. He hated what they did to Nadja. Maybe they didn’t personally kill her, but they sure didn’t save her, did they? The initial joy he felt when he heard the rumors slowly dissipated and now he was just angry. Shot in the middle of the night? Shot without even knowing they were going to be killed? That was bullshit. Those fuckers deserved more than peacefully going in their sleep. They deserved to be hanged in the fucking street, they deserved to be tortured like Nadja was. His angry thoughts were suddenly pulled away from him when he heard footsteps, chocolate brown eyes turning to the intruder. “Have you heard yet?”

Two gunshots. Too fucking easy if you asked Kaleb. He for one, didn’t like being told what to do or ordered around, trapped behind walls but that wasn’t a problem anymore, was it? He hoped so. He was all for the New Wave, he just wouldn’t join it since he wasn’t willing to risk the lives of those closest to him. Skylar especially, and each member of the former airport crew. He’d already lost one and that killed him, his heart became shattered.Death had never been easy for Kaleb to witness. His brothers tore him apart and he he was sure he would have lost his mind if it wasn’t for the airport crew. Each of them made up a little piece of his heart, the biggest belonging to Skylar no doubt but hearing of Nadja’s death, it was like his shattered heart has lost a fragment. All he wanted to at the time do was kill the Montgomery’s but he knew he couldn’t without being killed himself and in return probably have everyone he cared about killed too. She deserved better and they didn’t deserve how easy they got off. His eyes glanced at Javi, he was someone who cared about Nadja in a way he never would have and he could bet he was feeling the same way. Nodding as he stared at the sunrise, a slow exhale following. “Bullshit. Right?”
