the thing that gets me about about barbie is that barbie land wasn’t even purposefully a matriarchy, barbie land came about because of the way little girls were playing with their barbies, it wasn’t created by mattel it was created by the people using the toys, so the fact that the barbies ignored the ken’s and had girls night every night wasn’t because they had some bias against him, it was just an accurate depiction of how kids play with barbies. I had some ken dolls as a child and they were essential to the plot in the sense that of course my barbie has a boyfriend because that represented the world i saw around me, but also he didn’t have any purpose in my dream world because i was only interested in what the girls were doing because they represented me and how i wanted to be, I wanted girls night every night I wanted the girls to be president and austronauts and not because of some inherent feminist idea but because I was a girl and I wasn’t thinking about boys, ken was an accessory. this movie wasn’t made to change the world but it showed a different perspective than what we usually see which I thought was fun. Men don’t have to be the centre of all our stories and its not even because we hate them, sometimes we’re just not thinking about them
my 6yo piano student: did you KNOW that girls can marry girls and BOYS can marry boys? But they can’t do that romantic dance together when one has a rose in their mouth, because only boys can play the guitar :(
me: 👁️👄👁️well actually, girls can definitely play guitar??
6yo: WAIT REALLY?? :O
it was honestly so fucking adorable because she was SO excited to impart with me the news that gay marriage exists, but then instantly heartbroken that wlw couples were robbed of all romance as they couldn’t possibly do the flamenco together
Anxieties! Attack!
WAIT NO
No, not me you fools! No! Not like this! Noooo!

me n the boys
Roe v. Wade was overturned a year ago today, and it's the epitome of a uniquely American tragedy, the unceremonious stripping away of individual rights that American women and girls benefited from for almost 50 years.
This is the world the Supreme Court brought about, one of unnecessary and avoidable torment and despair.
These are some of the many women who had abortions before Roe was decided in 1973. This the world we've reverted back to in much of the country, especially in the South.
We must understand what happened before Roe v. Wade to prepare for an America in which Roe is gone.
Call me selfish but I deeply value my own life, and it's devastating to me that the life of a hypothetical unborn fetus is worth more to others than my own.
As my mother said, women and girls deserve freedom even if we’ve not been grievously violated, or in the case of “life of mother” exceptions, on the brink of death. We shouldn’t have to earn our bodily autonomy through abject and ultimately meaningless suffering.
Despite all the tragedy incurred through the overturning of Roe, I hold true with the words of Ursula K. Le Guin. The powers that be may want to hurtle us back to the Dark Ages, but we can dig our heels in and refuse to go. And that's what we have to do.

parents are so crazy because they can say the most fucked up shit to you when your brain is forming and it sets the tone for your whole adult mind set and then they forget about it the next day
Funny enough I wanted to go outside check out pride but the introvert side is winning. It's looking like an in bed all day affair and maybe video games
