DoYaThing by Gorillaz ft. James Murphy & André 3000 (yes, the full 13 minute version with the complete breakdown. yes, on loop. what else can I say I'm the shit)
Absolutely legendary, ahead of its time - wdym this was recorded in 2012 - done in one take, like eight moods rolled into one song, no other notes.
Lyric of choice: "Try so hard to act like we don't care, but it's true: you do; nothing is left, so I guess I'm right."
Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes
Sorry to all the marching band kids that this will give flashbacks to, but I am a bass guitarist so I can't help but bop. Peak 'I've had enough' song; obsessed with the intonation on "a seven nation army couldn't hold me back", very relatable when I'm feeling po'ed.
Lyric of choice: "And if I catch it coming back my way, I'm gonna serve it to you - and that ain't what you want to hear, but that's what I'll do."
Bad To The Bone by George Thorogood & The Destroyers
A certified classic that admittedly made its way onto my playlist while I was playing Necromancer runs of Slay the Spire 2 because I think I'm clever. I find it so funny that it's supposed to be a romantic song(?) since the singer swears to be loyal, but still openly confesses to basically being a fuckboi lmao it's just such a braggadocious piece that it loops back around to being loser energy like ohhhh they've known you were bad ever since you were a little baby? Okay man whatever you say lol. I resonate heavily
Lyric of choice: "Now when I walk the streets, kings and queens step aside. Every woman I meet - heheh - they all stay satisfied."
Bitch Better Have My Money by Rihanna
There is a good deal of Rihanna on my playlist, and while my current favorite is probably Love on the Brain, this is def the one I loop the most. Just absolute vocal mastery what more can I say.
Lyric of choice: "Shit, your wife in the backseat of my brand new foreign car - don't act like you forgot: I call the shot-shot-shots"
And last, but certainly not least:
Cutie Mew Mew Magic by Toby Fox and Cameilla (from the Deltarune OST)
This is the most genuine answer I have to "what song have you been looping lately", starting from the many, many attempts it took me to beat the Pink fight, but it has been completely stuck in my head ever since. Unfortunately I now associate this song with Peyz for some reason - probably because I conflated the lyrics into the inaccurate line "She's a mew mew girl who is saving the play" which feels very Peyz-core. Anyway, song is catchy as anything, and anyone who doesn't support a woman's right to transition into the body of an anime cat girl and simultaneously date that same anime cat girl can live with the knowledge that I would do the same thing if I could. This means nothing eggshells are tough.
Lyric of choice: "She's a mew mew girl who is ready to play, 全力でキスすればいいの Kitty革命" (trans: kiss me with all your might, it's a Kitty revolution <3)
