most of them are stoic and quiet, spending all day discussing strategies together, whispering in jargon no one else can understand. pushing themselves higher and higher for no reason other than to prove they can. they get nothing out of it, no home, no beauty, no games to play with friends, its incomprehensible to most people.

and then theres the ones who seem to have gone insane. coming out of the end covered in blood and burns and laughing. laughing about something completely unrelated, like what they did in that world didnt matter. killing and dying and smiling all the way.

and when they come to other parts of the universe, they are followed by hushed whispers. people are afraid of them, people judge them, and then their fears are proven right when runners prove their dominance in other fields. they go toe to toe with the killers, they learn parkour just to show off, they make up ways to chase each other down and kill each other.
