Since I answered that anon about Virago identity, I have been reached out to by multiple members of the community, some with critique, some with additions, some with very kind words, some with words of thanks. Overall, the Virago community has been extremely kind, openminded, and a joy to talk to. I understand members of the community here suffered a wave of harassment, and I have had multiple members of the community reach out to me asking if I was okay, and if any of it had come my way. It hadn’t, but I genuinely appreciate the care I have been shown. I’m sorry you guys have dealt with the harassment you have, you deserve better. Nobody should be harassed for their identity.

-being called sensitive and dramatic

-hear boys get told to "don't be a sissy," "stop crying like a girl," "man up," and other bullshit

-being told their anger is unbecoming

-learning they have to hide their justified anger to protect themselves from others' violent reactions

-hearing that society automatically views them as less competent at work due to their ""emotional nature""

Idk that I agree with this 100% either. There are definitely some takes that contribute to my reluctance to use the label. But it's such a small community (like, really small), and again, it skews young. I was horrible about engaging in discourse in my early twenties.

I see potential in the term "virago," and while I'm not using it right now, we're likely not going to find any other word for gnc women that a) isn't infantilizing like tomboy, b) isn't clunky like "gnc woman," "gender nonconforming woman" or "masculine woman," and c) had existed since the 14th century.

Be trans, be nonbinary, be anything else. But making your gender font a oppression point is soooo fucking weird of you.

You're not opressed for wearing fucking jeans bitch. Shocking: Feminine women get raped because we're more attractive than a trooned up brute.

Trans men dont even complain this much. You're still cis. Kill yourself.
