Not "The Character did nothing wrong" or "The Character is irredeemably awful" but a secret third thing: The Character may display moments of deep love & compassion, may even have a strong sense of ethics, and may also be capable of brutal cruelty that is irreconcilable with those traits. The constant tension between the different sides of The Character's nature is exactly what makes them compelling, and attempting to reduce them down to simply "a terrible person" or "innocent & misunderstood" is missing the point of the questions a media with nuanced characters is asking you to consider

Seto kaiba amuses me because he cares far more about quality products and consumer happiness than quantity. A fascinating take to fictional CEOs especialy knowing Kaiba took over the company to prevent his dad from using it to kill people in war (it used to make weapons) like he just wanted to play cards 😭. Kaiba corp would never make gaming slop or commit to war, thanks to Kaiba.

with Kaiba as CEO, the company has also canonically had multiple collaborations with local brands (i.e. Yugi’s Grandpa’s Kame game store hosts duel monsters and other game events through KC all the time; in a YGO R bonus chapter it was even revealed Kaiba lends his company’s technology and equipment so Kame Game store can have mini tournaments), organize nation-wide youth competitions to promote child creativity (e.g. how Jaden Yuki got inspired to play Duel Monsters), and also made a chain of family theme parks that’s meant to be accessible to children and free to orphans. Kaiba also fired all his stepfather’s corrupt capitalist goons (The Big Five) because they were power hungry and only cared about profit, not quality. He turned a company that literally kills and massacres millions into a game brand that makes Duel Monsters-themed EVERYTHING including cute BEWD amusement park rides, trains, costumes, food, etc bc thats his favorite monster. (He also used company money to make his own BEWD jet lmfao). His sense of pride is also so ridiculously high that he personally makes it his problem when KC products are defective or glitching out, which is something CEOs literally do not give a shit about bc who cares if one thing’s malfunctioning so long as I make money. Through Isono as an example, we can also safely assume Kaiba rewards loyalty to KC employees and im sure he offers great benefits like health insurance, paid time off, maternity leave, etc. based on his DSOD speech about how we let stupid things like religious ideology and race bar us from equality. Kaiba does use AI (in DSOD) but he himself roasts its limits despite him being literally the one in-universe who understands it the best (and lowkey invented it) because he knows nothing beats the real thing and real innovation comes from human minds and souls. Hence why he fucking defies the laws of time, space, and astrophysics to go see Atem in the afterlife because the AI version is so inferior and Seto Kaiba has never settled for mediocrity in his life and neither should you. He really is just The Character of All Time.
