A study into the effects of different forms of HRT could change the way hormones are prescribed in the future.
Research supports a shift toward estradiol monotherapy for trans women, using estradiol alone without additional testosterone blockers.
A groundbreaking study published in the Journal of the Endocrine Society reveals that injectable estradiol may significantly improve hormone therapy outcomes for trans women, Pink News reports.
Researchers analyzed data from 29 patients who switched from traditional estradiol forms (gels or tablets) to weekly injections over a 15-month period. Despite receiving a lower average dose (3.7 mg vs. 4.3 mg), all participants experienced a dramatic reduction in testosterone levels, while maintaining stable estrogen levels.
The study also challenges the efficacy of Spironolactone, a commonly prescribed anti-androgen.
From the research paper Injectable Estradiol Dosing Regimens in Transgender and Nonbinary Adults Listed as Male at Birth: Results The average estradiol dose decreased from 4.3 to 3.7 mg weekly (P < .001) during the study period with a final on-treatment estradiol level of 248 pg/mL. All individuals achieved a testosterone level of less than 50 ng/dL during the study period. The average initial on-treatment testosterone level was not significantly different from average final on-treatment measurement of 24.0 mg/dL (P = .95). Spironolactone use at study initiation was not associated with a lower initial on-treatment testosterone level, though it was associated with a lower estradiol level of 285 pg/dL compared to 427 pg/dL for those on estradiol monotherapy (P = .017). Conclusion Lower doses of injectable estradiol can achieve therapeutic estradiol levels with excellent testosterone suppression. Spironolactone was not associated with additional testosterone suppression and may result in lower estradiol levels.

Tagged by @queerical! Sharing another small snippet from my casmund fic (chapter 3) :] It has been slower going since I'm finally hitting The Plot instead of just exposition, but I spent some sizable time working on it today.
The taller man raised his brows at that, a disarmingly charming grin crossing his face as he climbed into the saddle atop his own horse. “You’d like to see more of Narnia, Ed?” Edmund hummed, grasping the mane and pulling himself into the saddle. The mare he was riding wasn't his, but she was sturdy and calm—unlikely to buck him off into the dirt. “Of course,” he admitted as he stroked the mare's neck. “It might be nice to get out of the city for a while, honestly. We could take a break from all the planning and bureaucracy together.” An odd, indecipherable expression crossed Caspian's face, but vanished to be replaced with something carefully neutral as they began trekking out of the stables atop their horses beside each other. “You’d like to go together?” He asked, accent lilting his words with surprise.

I should make moodboards for my Narnia fic...
This may sound odd, but as a kid I was always slightly fascinated by the fact that Shasta/Cor and Aravis are the only two Narnia main characters who are (presumably) canonically having sex. Or was I wrong?
(Frank and Helen don't count: Helen is definitely no kind of main character.)
:000 I think you're right, as far as I know!! Part of that is probably just it Not Being Plot Relevant since the protagonists are children BUT that being said it is still fascinating. I've never thought about it too extensively but now that you've said it I'm trying to think of if Narnia hypothetically would view sex and sexuality more institutionally 🧐 thank u this is so cool!!!

Featuring a small snip from my casmund fic! Things have been too hectic to work on much fic recently but I see the end of this chapter so that's exciting
“I can't believe you did that, Ed!” Caspian exclaimed, still laughing as they turned towards the kitchens. “You've much more patience than me—I expected to be the one persuading you for an escape.” Edmund huffed a laugh of his own. “Is it so wrong that I want to spend my wedding night with my husband?” He asked, teasing obvious in his tone. “You know what they're thinking!” Both dissolved into giggles again as they entered the kitchens. It was easier to snatch a bottle of opened wine than expected and they were off again, Edmund leading them down another stone hallway decorated by lions. His hand still held Caspian's.
