she  lets  out  a  quiet  laugh  at  grace’s  answer.  "  well,  i  don’t  have  any  latex  dress,  "  she  admits,  as  if  it  would’ve  mattered.  at  the  words  that  follow,  june  finds  herself  drifting  into  thought.  if  it  was  up  to  her,  she  would’ve  followed  amara  to  new  york  just  to  try  and  win  her  over  again.  she  knows  it’s  pathetic,  but  all  she  wants  is  for  things  to  go  back  to  the  way  they  were.  it’s  hard  for  her  to  accept  that  amara  could  easily  leave  after  saying  something  entirely  different  just  the  other  day.  "  okay,  but  the  thing  is,  i’m  not  trying  to  move  on.  i’m  not  prepared  to.  i  just—  i  don’t  know.  "  she  lets  out  a  small  huff,  struggling  to  keep  the  words  from  catching  in  her  throat.  "  i  don’t  think  i  could  do  it,  grace.  it’s  one  thing  to  hook  up  with  strangers  to  try  and  get  over  her,  but  it’s  even  worse  when  it’s  someone  i  know.  it’s  a  bad  idea  either  way.  "

the  guilt  in  her  expression  slowly  fades  as  she  listens  to  billie,  replaced  by  a  quiet,  genuine  warmth  in  her  gaze.  "  wow,  that  seems  like  a  lot  to  juggle.  you  sure  like  to  keep  yourself  busy.  "  a  soft  chuckle  follows.  come  to  think  of  it,  she’s  never  had  more  than  one  job  at  a  time.  then  again,  she  doesn’t  really  need  to,  though  the  idea  of  having  too  much  going  on  seems  like  it  might  help  with  her  current  situation.  hard  to  stay  stuck  in  her  head  when  there's  no  time  to  sit  with  it.  "  how  does  that  work?  "  she  asks,  leaning  against  the  counter,  elbows  resting  on  it.  "  like,  if  you’ve  already  made  plans  but  get  called  in  for  an  emergency  bartending  shift,  do  you  have  to  cancel  everything  and  show  up?  or  can  you  just  say  no?  "

june  smiles  and  returns  the  one  armed  hug,  laughter  escaping  at  his  words.  it’s  not  like  she’s  been  hiding,  but  it  has  been  a  while  since  she’s  actually  stepped  outside.  "  yeah,  i’ve  been  a  little  busy.  "  busy  trying  to  mend  a  broken  heart,  though  she  keeps  that  part  to  herself.  "  what  have  you  been  up  to  these  days?  you  staying  out  of  trouble,  jay?  "  she  asks,  voice  light  and  teasing,  as  they  make  their  way  toward  the  pier.

“FUCK  !"  she  whispers,  rubbing  her  forehead.  but  she's  back  quickly,  brought  back  down  by  the  other's  compliment.  “you  mean  it  ?  no  surgery,  whatsoever.  swear  on  it  !”  if  her  parents  couldn't  love  her  the  way  she  needed,  at  least  they  had  decent  enough  genetics  to  pass  down.  “i  guess  just  timeless  ?  just  so  i  have  the  widest  range  of  opportunities  …  i  don't  want  to  be  the  girl  who  is  stuck  on  network  tv  !  they  don't  even  make  teen  shows  on  the  cw  like  they  used  to  …  i  need  a  face  for  more  serious  media  !”

a  soft  chuckle  leaves  her  as  she  nods  at  honey.  "  i  totally  mean  it.  you’re  very  pretty.  "  there’s  something  admirable  about  how  much  honey  cares  about  her  craft  and  her  desire  to  take  on  more  serious  roles.  most  people  are  just  content  chasing  whatever’s  trendy  at  the  moment  without  giving  much  thought  to  the  kind  of  work  they’re  doing.  "  but  you’re  more  than  just  a  pretty  girl,  hon.  i  think  it's  really  cool  you  wanna  get  into  more  serious  media.  not  that  there's  anything  wrong  with  network  tv.  "  she  gives  honey  a  small  smile  before  adding,  "  how's  that  project  going?  the  one  about  a  small  town’s  festival?  "

truth  be  told,  june  isn't  entirely  sure  what  to  do.  if  it  had  happened  to  her,  she  would've  probably  laughed  it  off  and  gone  about  her  day,  but  she  understands  why  hazel  is  upset.  still,  the  moment  the  question  is  directed  toward  her,  she  can't  help  but  feel  a  little  intimidated.  the  last  thing  she  wants  is  to  say  something  wrong  and  end  up  making  things  worse.  "  yeah,  yeah,  there’s  definitely  something,  "  she  says,  nodding  as  if  to  sound  convincing  enough.  "  i’m  pretty  sure  it’s  not  a  leaf,  though.  probably  just  a  stray  animal.  but  hey,  we  all  get  a  little  panicked  when  something  suddenly  gets  in  our  way.  you  gotta  do  what  you  gotta  do  to  stay  safe,  right?  "  she  offers  a  small  smile,  shrugging  lightly  as  she  looks  at  hazel.

she  watches  quietly  when  gwyn  repeats  the  number,  like  it  somehow  sounds  even  worse  the  second  time  around.  to  be  fair,  when  she  gave  away  all  those  ninja  creamis,  she  hadn’t  really  thought  about  whether  they  needed  one  or  would  actually  use  it.  she  just  figured  everyone  should  have  one.  "  okay,  gwyn,  but  it’s  really  good.  have  you  ever  tried  one  before?  it’s  life  -  changing.  you’ll  never  want  to  buy  ice  cream  again.  "  honestly,  she  wouldn’t  even  mind  letting  gwyn  try  hers,  just  so  she  could  see  what  she’s  been  missing  out  on.  at  gwyn's  question,  she  hums  softly  in  response.  "  yeah,  i  sent  them  all  out  on  the  same  day,  "  she  adds,  taking  another  sip  of  her  milkshake.

she  couldn’t  help  but  frown  at  winnie’s  words.  "  wait,  you’re  not  at  work?  where  are  you?  "  she  asks,  though  her  voice  is  likely  drowned  out  by  bea’s  whining  into  the  phone.  she  gives  bea  the  same  look  in  return,  as  if  they  can  somehow  convince  winnie  to  agree  through  sheer  stubbornness,  regardless  of  whatever  she  has  going  on  right  now.  "  yeah,  sure,  we’ll  order  something  for  you  too.  better  yet,  come  join  us!  the  more,  the  merrier.  right,  bae?  "  she  adds,  grinning  at  bea,  the  expression  not  quite  matching  the  brutal  hangover  she’s  trying  to  power  through.  @yourcinluv

instead  of  wiping  the  flour  off  her  nose  right  away,  vada  lets  her  gaze  linger  on  maureen  as  she  speaks.  there’s  something  about  the  way  maureen  talks  that  she  finds  endearing,  and  with  how  pretty  she  is,  vada  doesn’t  even  bother  pretending  she  isn’t  shamelessly  staring.  "  god,  you’re  so  fucking  cute,  "  she  drawls  with  a  grin,  finally  reaching  out  to  gently  brush  the  flour  from  her  nose.  "  yeah,  you’ve  definitely  got  something  on  your  face.  a  whole  lot  of  beauty  right  there,  babe.  "  cheesy  pick  -  up  lines  aren’t  usually  her  thing,  but  she  knows  maureen  would  absolutely  eat  it  up.

honestly,  vada  couldn’t  care  less.  her  eyes  flutter  shut  under  dakota’s  kisses,  fingers  tangling  in  her  hair  as  she  holds  her  close.  she  only  opens  them  again  when  dakota  pulls  away,  the  moment  dragging  her  back  before  she  can  properly  savour  it.  now  that  dakota’s  pointed  it  out,  there’s  clearly  someone  knocking  at  the  door,  and  she's  slightly  annoyed  that  they’ve  been  interrupted.  "  you  wanna  go  see  what  that’s  about,  babe?  "  she  asks,  hands  trailing  down  dakota's  arms  as  she  waits  for  a  reply.  @ilovethismood

unsure  of  what  to  expect,  she  feels  a  little  relieved  when  kara  invites  her  in,  her  grin  widening.  "  love  that  for  me,  "  she  says,  stepping  inside  with  ease.  once  she  sets  the  bag  down  on  the  table,  she  glances  over  at  kara  as  she  takes  out  the  food.  "  were  you  at  the  open  mic  night?  i  didn’t  see  you  at  my  set.  "

tonight's vape of choice is watermelon ice. cloud of smoke exhaled as she finds a quiet moment in the bathroom, despite the fact she should be taking it outside. music still rings in her ears, vibration from the base still reaching her feet. she can't decide if she wants to dance until her legs give out, or run as far from this place as she can get. when the door swings open she's fully expecting it to be someone ready to scold her. doesn't expect to see a familiar blonde instead. " great, " she mumbles, eyes rolling. " you really just pop up everywhere these days, huh ? "

even  though  vada  thrives  on  the  high  energy  of  the  nightclub  crowd,  it  still  catches  up  to  her  sometimes.  she  slips  away  into  the  bathroom  for  a  quick  reset,  only  to  find  stevie  already  there  when  she  steps  in,  a  faint  smirk  tugging  at  the  corner  of  her  mouth  as  she  walks  past  her  and  toward  the  sink.  "  i  didn’t  think  you’d  notice,  "  she  says,  playful,  leaning  into  the  mirror  as  she  checks  herself  out.  her  eyes  flick  to  stevie  in  the  reflection,  lingering  a  moment  too  long  before  she  finally  turns  on  the  tap  and  washes  her  hands.  "  what’s  a  hot  girl  like  you  doing  all  alone  in  here  anyway?  you  not  having  fun?  "

venus  knew  that  whenever  she  was  with  vada,  she  was  going  to  hear  about  the  messiest  experiences  and  the  nastiest  opinions,  and  nothing  excited  her  more.  vada  was  always  willing  to  spill,  but  she  really  wouldn't  hold  back  after  a  drink  or  to.  so,  to  the  grand  royale  they  went.  “ALRIGHT,  BITCH,  what's  going  on  with  you  ?"

vada  couldn’t  help  but  feign  disappointment  at  the  question.  "  you  know  what,  bitch?  "  she  starts,  a  dramatic  sigh  following.  "  i  think  i’m  not  getting  fucked  enough.  "  there's  no  telling  whether  she's  being  serious  or  just  saying  it  to  get  a  reaction  out  of  venus.  knowing  vada,  it  might  just  be  both.  "  you’d  think  people  would  be  throwing  themselves  at  me  after  open  mic  night.  "  it’s  a  bold  thing  to  say  out  loud,  borderline  shameless  even,  but  she’s  never  been  one  to  hold  back  whatever  comes  spilling  out  of  her  mind.

given  how  often  she  visits  corinne’s  place,  it  already  feels  like  a  second  home  even  before  she  moved  in.  back  at  her  own  place,  the  quiet  feels  almost  unbearable  after  her  recent  breakup,  and  while  she’d  hate  to  be  a  burden,  she  can't  help  but  feel  a  little  more  at  ease  just  having  someone  around.  the  moment  she  reaches  downstairs  and  sees  corinne,  a  smile  spreads  across  her  face,  the  nickname  making  her  giggle  quietly.  "  evening,  bear.  "  making  her  way  to  the  couch,  she  settles  beside  corinne  and  curls  up,  knees  drawn  to  her  chest,  her  expression  soft  and  warm  as  she  looks  at  her  friend.  "  a  little  better,  "  she  admits,  nodding  with  a  small  reassuring  smile.  "  thank  you  for  letting  me  stay,  cori.  you’re  an  angel.  "

june  isn’t  usually  whiny  in  nature,  but  something  about  being  around  saul  brings  out  that  side  of  her.  she  was  having  a  bad  day,  after  all,  and  all  she  wanted  was  her  comfort  gummy  bear  candies.  much  to  her  dismay,  there  was  only  one  packet  left  and  while  she  was  quick  enough  to  grab  it,  someone  else  had  their  hand  on  it  at  the  same  time.  in  typical  june  fashion,  she  had  apologized  first  and  was  even  willing  to  let  them  have  the  last  packet,  but  their  sudden  hostility  made  her  fight  back.  of  course,  in  the  end,  she  gave  up  and  let  them  have  it  anyway.  "  right?  and  then  they  called  me,  "  she  lowers  her  voice  before  adding,  "  a  bitch.  over  gummy  bears.  can  you  believe  it?  "  even  though  it’s  been  hours  by  now,  the  shock  still  hasn’t  worn  off  and  june  remains  shaken  at  the  thought  of  it.  "  i  literally  just  froze  there  for  a  whole  two  minutes,  saul.  i  didn't  even  know  what  to  do.  i  guess  they  probably  had  it  worse  or  something,  but  still,  a  little  kindness  goes  a  long  way.  "  she  lets  out  a  sigh,  then  shakes  it  off  and  turns  back  to  saul,  a  smile  returning  to  her  face.  "  anyway,  enough  about  me.  how  was  your  day?  please  tell  me  it  wasn’t  as  bad  as  mine.  "
