for example, let’s look at these two characters in my main wip. they are both very young, around the age of 14. stormy starts out as this very “violent” and aggressive character. she’s not really like that, but she adopted those behaviors to help her survive and ensure that no one messed with her. blossom, on the other hand, had the responsibility of the lives of her entire village forced upon her at a very young age, and she now feels responsible for everyone’s health and safety and feels like she has to be the mature one in charge.

stormy and blossom, as they grow more comfortable with the group, can let down their guard and act “childish” together, because they’re safe to do so. however, stormy gets comfortable faster than blossom, so her “childish” behavior sometimes triggers a negative response in blossom because she is still stuck in the mindset of acting grown up and mature. their moments when they are childish together can also clash with the other, older characters, who are also under a lot of pressure and may respond negatively to them fooling around.
