I have used strategies I have learned in this class in other classes, including my creative writing honors 110 class. I have used peer reviewing, outlines, and even the writing center for my piece. I have also used the infographic lesson to create a better resume. I have always struggled with resumes because I never really knew what to say while being so concise yet informational. Because we had to make short texts in the infographic yet still have it contain statistics and information, I was able to gain more experience and apply what I learned to building my resume. 

My writing process has improved entirely. I used to not write several drafts before submitting a final one. Now, I have a prewriting process. I write a first draft and make revisions after, instead of writing one draft and revising as I write.

College campuses should be safe enough is my claim. My two supporting claims are “ It should be common sense to respect others feelings while at the same time the freedom of speech needs to be protected.” and “ Safe spaces are beneficial for students to feel included and it helps diversify groups.” My argument diverges from the original by bringing in the first amendment surveys and to help with my argument. I think it adds to the argument because it goes against safe spaces from a new perspective. I refute the original argument by saying how safe spaces can be beneficial and implement diversity. I agree and disagree with the argument overall.

It is important to evaluate sources because it is important to make sure that the information we are getting is reliable and not biased. The most important thing I was reminded of is that if you cant find much background information on the article publisher or author then it is probably not a reliable source. This could change the way I think about an article is that I will check to see if the author and publisher are reliable before reading or using the article. this could change the way I look for articles because it would make me check to see if if the article is reliable before reading it. 

- A counter argument could be that the press is only reporting the information they are given from their sources.

I found this image on a website. The audience could be to people that don’t know about teachers or might want to be one. The purpose of the image is to inform people about what teachers do and to disprove myths heard about teachers. The image uses logos because of percentages and charts used to display information. It also uses pathos because of the work teachers do and we can feel for them. The citations and references at the bottom also bring in the ethos appeal. There is contrast between the bright colors and the dark background. The repeating circles display myths and the quotation boxes under show the information. There is symmetry and the title is in the middle. The myths are in the same row and the stats are together in the same row above. The image portrays a good understanding of what it is really like to be a teacher along with the statistics of them.

The writer introduced the quote by telling us what the quote was about first. The writer tells us a who and when, then says what the quote is about. The writer used this introductory sentence that leads into the quote: “In 2016 a group of students at Occidental College argued that the American flag endangered their safety.” The writer successfully integrated the quote into their argument because he explained what it meant in the paragraph that follows. I can integrate this technique in my own paper to go into detail about how ethos and pathos are entailed with the quote and meaning.

My article used logos by using a lot of statistics and percentages such as “21% of students at California State University struggled with food insecurity”. My author used ethos by saying that he was one of these students in poverty when he was in college, he explains that during his schools breaks he couldn’t afford to go home to Miami and the dining hall was closed to he had to pick up extra shifts to pay off meals he payed for on his credit card. My author used pathos by including actual interviews with college students that are going through this struggle, he included quotes from these students such as “she stole food the day before they closed everything- I took a bunch of bread and things that are non perishable.” Quotes like this weigh on your emotions and make you sad for these students. I think my article used a lot of logos and pathos and not as much ethos although it was still in there sometimes.
