night's fury

justice was in her dragon form as she made her way around campus ( it was easier that way ). she had been about to head home when she spotted the familiar girl, sitting between a tree. heading to the tree, she used her tail to grab her crutches from her back before transforming back into a human. “hey!” she called out. “caspia --- giant cupcake, damn. is it your birthday or somethin’?”

“am i? i don’t think so,” she said with a laugh. “i may not like it here, but i’m not suffering my any means. you’re losing it.” she smirked, raising an eyebrow as he tried to go louder. her eyes flashed a deep green and she attempted to slurp even louder.

“they are. cross my heart.” she drew an ‘x’ over her heart. "great, i’ll be waiting~” she hummed, just a bit playfully. she turned her attention to the elevator doors as they opened and gestured for him to go first. she looked back to him when he introduced himself. “orion moon?” she echoed. “dude, that’s badass as hell. orion is my dad’s favourite constellation, actually --- and the moon is cool all in itself, so, yeah. that’s pretty cool.” she smiled. “yeah, pretty much. it’s self-explanatory, just ... they catch sheep to count points.” she shrugged. she glanced down at her leg as they made their way down the hall. “yeah, it was. there was just ... a lot that i couldn’t do, because of it, i guess.” she bunched her lips at one side. “but i’m totally fine with it now. i mean ... the other day, i literally just laid in the middle of the stage in the theatre --- that’s my major, by the way, since i know yours and all --- and my teacher didn’t say anything because i just told him that i didn’t have my crutches, so ...” she smiled, shrugging once more. “it’s all good now.”

justice crinkled her nose, though didn’t argue with umbra on that topic any longer --- she knew that umbra was right. of course, she wasn’t about to outright say as much; that’s what the silence was for. when umbra spoke again, justice replied with a quick, “yeah, but you need a partner to ---” however, she quickly cut herself off, figuring that it was pointless. umbra was probably right. she always was. “umbra, honey, we’ve been over this ... sentient~”

justice nodded as the boy finally introduced himself. “it’s nice to meet you, castor. i’m justice. justice nightly.” she offered a small smile. “nah, no worries, dude. it’s all good --- just don’t do it again.” she made a face. “it was, yeah --- and good. at least we can agree on that.” she nodded once.

justice crinkled her nose and kicked her able leg. “because ...” she paused. “... because i was born with a bad leg, but then --- then, when i was, like ... two? i got in an accident and it just ... it just stopped.” she puffed out her cheeks, pouting when he leaned away from her and took her hand. “good, good. i’m proud of you,” she slurred, nodding lazily. at his last comment, she frowned. “somewhere safe? you mean, like ... like ---” she stopped. “--- hey, buddy. remember? i can’t waaalk. i need my crutches or ...” she made a face, letting her head rest on the floor again.

“it doesn’t work,” the dragon girl sing-songed, crinkling her nose and kicking her right leg into the air. she leaned up a bit to get closer to him, nodding when he repeated her question. “yes, you,” she confirmed. “hey, hey --- don’t regret anything, ever.” she reached up to gently boop his nose.

“because i like being here to bother you people,” she said with a grin, eyeing his smoothie for a moment before slurping at her slurpie, trying to make it as loud as possible.

“honestly? i wouldn’t blame you. the telescopes here are some good shit,” she said, laughing softly. of course, she preferred to just go flying to look at the stars, but the telescopes were good for lazy nights. "ah, right, supposed moon powers. you gotta let me know when you do know for sure --- i’m a sucker for the moon.” she smiled. “speaking of letting me know, have i thrown you my name yet? i’m justice. --- oh, and yeah, more freedom. i got to go where i wanted, within my father’s boundaries for me, of course ---” not that she always listened to toothless. “the only thing that sucked was the dragon racing --- couldn’t participate without a rider.” she made a face, though let a smile linger on her lips, to show that she wasn’t really upset by it ( at least, not at the moment ). at his question, she glanced down at her leg for a moment, then lifting her gaze back up to look at him. “oh, no worries, i don’t mind. but yeah, i am. i have been since i was ... one? two? somewhere in there. i’d always had trouble walking, but then i got in an accident when i was super young and it just ... amplified the problem.” she crinkled her nose. “i’m used to it now, though, obviously.”

justice pouted, lifting her head to look up at umbra. “but i am.” she retorted, although even she knew that it was untrue. the dragon girl’s pout furthered, and she hid her face in the carptet, mumbling a, “well, i don’t have a partner to think i’m the best ...” the only time justice let herself be even a bit vulnerable was when she was drunk off her ass --- she couldn’t help it, really. “maybe your carpet likes when i whine over it.” she lazily waved a pointed finger at umbra.

“oh, right. pfft. astronomy classrooms --- how could i forget?” she rolled her eyes at herself, nodding slightly. “runs in the family, though ... because of your powers, right? your moon powers.” she hummed. “ah, me? lil ol’ me? i fly solo. i’m an independent dragon who don’t need no rider.” she joked, smiling slightly. it wasn’t a lie. she didn’t need a rider ( not usually, anyway ), but she would be lying if she said that she didn’t sometimes want one. as the elevator doors closed, justice pushed the button for the second floor up.

“hey. i am reliable even when druuunk ---” she whined, making a face at umbra before she face-planted into the carpet completely. “whaaat? sian and i are, like ... tied. you can’t just turn us against each other like that!” she feigned offense. at umbra’s last remark, the dragon just whined, hiccuping a bit here and there.

justice squinted at the hand that the boy offered, but she didn’t take it. even in her drunken state, she was very much aware of her paralyzed left leg and how much it limited her movement. “i can’t get uppp ---” she hummed, pointing to her leg. “i gottaaa stay down heeere.” she made a face. “i said ... do youuu regret anything?” she hiccuped.

justice gave a laugh, crinkling her nose in amusement. “oh, please. i would love to be sent back home. berk is a paradise compared to ... this place.” she made a face, taking another drink of her slurpie.

justice made a face, waving a dismissive hand at the boy as she dropped down onto the floor. she’d thrown up practically half of the alcohol she had consumed, but that didn’t stop her from drinking more. holding the bottle up, she shook her head. “nothing, i tell you. i regret nothing.” she waved the bottle at the boy before sitting up a bit and taking a drink. “do you regret anything, stranger?” she slurred.

“well, i’ll make sure that they don’t.” she hummed, struggling to roll over onto her stomach, burying her face in the carpet as she did so. “the charmingest personality a dragon ever did seeeee ---” she sing-songed, then made a face at the glass of water. “i don’t want that,” she complained. “i don’t ... i don’t want to be not-drunk ---”

justice shook the pack a bit, then slipping one cigarette out and handing it to him. “purple fire, huh?” she hummed. “well, i can actually do that myself.” she grinned, pulling a cigarette out for herself.
