astoria liked to think that she was good at reading people ( she had picked it up from her father ), and she could tell that this boy had some kind of ulterior motive; she didn’t trust him, not one bit. she didn’t look up from her paperwork as he spoke. “nope, none of it is for uni. i’ve finished all of that work,” she stated simply. when he made himself comfortable, she rolled her eyes, though not exaggerated enough to be noticeable. “if you are not going to leave, may i at least have your name?”
“ah, so what is it, then? personal project? plans for world domination?” he tilted his head to see one paper and caught the word ‘narnia’, and other words he presumed were places or names, but none that he was familiar with. “oh! right, of course, how rude of me. otto white,” he smiled, extending a hand for her to shake.

Charity giggled at his honesty and shook her head lightly. “So, you totally guessed that you’re supposed to drink a white wine with seafood?” She asked and took another sip. “Not too bad.” She agreed. “Just don’t go bragging about how you know how to take a lady on a date. Let the date speak for itself. And best not to bring up other girls unless you want them to believe you are a player.”
“Oh, no, I know that. Everyone knows white is for seafood, red is for meat,” he said, in a posh voice. Otto tapped his fingers on the bottom of the wine glass, spinning it around on the smooth tablecloth. What she said next made him laugh. “Char, you already know I’m a player. It’s one of the most interesting things about me! It’s like my party trick,” he smiled. “Do you know any party tricks?”

“because i like being here to bother you people,” she said with a grin, eyeing his smoothie for a moment before slurping at her slurpie, trying to make it as loud as possible.
“y’know, the only one really suffering here is you,” he pointed out. otto furrowed his eyebrows as she tried to go louder. he exhaled and slurped LOUD.

justice gave a laugh, crinkling her nose in amusement. “oh, please. i would love to be sent back home. berk is a paradise compared to … this place.” she made a face, taking another drink of her slurpie.
“then why don’t you make life easier for us and just leave,” he snorted. seeing her drink reminded him of his own smoothie, and he slurped at it even louder just to annoy her.

astoria crinkled her nose at the boy’s words, though she didn’t look up from her paperwork. her father and her had been discussing closing narnia’s doors for quite a while, and they were finally getting around to bringing it to the table for the narnians to discuss amongst themselves; she was busy. at what he said next, she nodded, “more believable, i suppose.” she peered into the box when he slid it toward her, only briefly looking to him. “thank you, i suppose. of course, you did not have to do so, but generosity is always appreciated, i guess.” her tone was as monotone as after ( of course, not as monotone as the caterpillar girl in her literature class always seemed to be, though ). “… is that all?”
he waited to see if she would take it. otto had on that practised face of calm, that face that said ‘it’s aaall for you’, but there was a falseness in his eyes that betrayed him. in that moment, he was a salesman. “you’re very welcome. if anything, you’ll have more supplies to help you with...” he gestured at the papers, glancing at them, “whatever all this is. is this all for uni?” he ignored her last question, crossing one leg over the other as if to signify he’d be there until he wanted to leave.

Marisol tilted his head. “They have a fridge magnet that says that? If they did, I would definitely give you one.” She smiled at him.
Otto arched an eyebrow, incredulous. “Again. Thanks.” This girl was unbelievable. “Are you always a walking fortune cookie to everyone you meet?”

Dominic chuckled a bit at his words. “No offense, Otto, but I can’t see myself dating guys.” He joked. “If I did, though, you’d be at the top of my list.”

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” Otto recited, chuckling. “Well, when you finally find a blonde girl you fancy, you’ll tell me, won’t you? Keep me in the loop?”

Otto just frowned, lifting a hand with a lazy wrist as he was just missed by the splash of water from the curb. “ -- are you fucking kidding me right now -- never do that again. ever. ”

She snorted softly and shook her head. The feeling - whatever it was - started to dim a bit at his comment, but she would be damned if she let that ruin the evening. She nodded her head in thanks at the waiter and took a small sip. “Mmm. Good wine. Not too strong of an aftertaste.” She took a bigger sip and set the glass down.
Otto sipped at his own drink, keeping the glass in his hand. “Admittedly, I know next to nothing about wines. This was the first one I chose that I thought I could drink the whole bottle of,” he joked. He took another sip, before carefully placing the glass down on the white tablecloth. “So. Our first date. Not too bad, eh? Any comments, criticisms so far?”

otto didn’t know whether to react sarcastically or as he usually did when faced with a threat. in his confusion, he just stared at her in disbelief. “...as if you would. you’d be sent back to wherever you came from like that,” he snapped his fingers in a lazy wave.

Charity blushed softly as he spoke in her ear definitely not expecting it. “Well, if they ever confront me, I’ll definitely voice my opinion.” She grinned at how close it was to the stage. “I can honestly say this will be the best date I’ve ever been on, and that’s saying something.” She sat in the chair and looked up at him still grinning. “Thank you.”
“Please do. I’d feel so much better having you as a character reference,” he said smoothly. Otto moved to sit on the chair across her. As soon as he sat down, he lifted his hand and a waiter came in with a bottle of wine. “If there’s anything I know, Charity Beau, it’s how to take a girl on a date...” he gestured for the waiter to pour them each a glass, “and show her a good time.” It was second nature at this rate, to be his own sort of prince charming.

She giggled and shook her head. “While I agree that you can be an asshole, I feel like monster may be going too far.” She smiled as they entered the building, her excitement growing. She scrunched up her forehead, wondering why he was apologizing, but when the door opened, her eyes widened slightly. “Wow. I have to admit, this is definitely a first for me.” She smiled up at Otto. “Which balcony is ours, though?” She asked looking through the glass. “Because if it’s closer to the stage, I’d rather sit there during the performance.” She admitted and walked into the room towards her chair.
“Tell that to the press, darling,” he murmured in her ear as they walked. Otto waited for Charity’s reaction to the place, managing a proud little smile when it seemed positive. He pointed out a balcony that was rather close to the stage. “That one. Dinner won’t be too long. And that balcony’s reserved just for us, so everything’s all taken cared of.” He walked ahead to her chair and pulled it out, waiting for her to sit.

She snorted and shook her head at his dramatics. “Should I ruin it for you and tell you the details?” She teased and giggled at his next words. “Well, the fact that we’re going to be eating seafood is reason enough not to allow either of us to Atlantica.”
She went to open the door, but Otto beat her to it. She smiled up at him and stepped out of the car. “Why, thank you, Your Highness.” She took his arm and waited for him to lead them to their seats.
“What, and spoil my ballet experience for me? Don’t be so evil, Char,” he teased back. “True. At this rate, we won’t be able to eat anything in five years’ time because it’ll just be politically and culturally insensitive.” It was half a joke and half a genuine annoyance of his. He couldn’t eat fish without thinking of the Thames kids.
“I may be a monster, but I’m a monster with manners,” he said with a charming smile, leading them across the entrance, handing his keys to the valet as he did. They entered the building and after sorting out ticketing, a uniformed man led them up to a floor above the mezzanine. “Sorry about the height, but this is where dinner is,” he explained, as the final door opened and the man welcomed them into a warm space with just a table and chairs for them. Dinner was already waiting. “Later when the show starts, we have our own balcony so we can just slip in whenever. But we can still watch it from here,” he added, pointing across to the large glass window showing the stage below them in clear view.
