- In his very first episode, his first instinct when Hawk talks about missing Trapper is to offer to help (to a man he just met no less)

- Also in his first episode, after Hawkeye tells him that the one soldier has “had it, BJ says “we have to try”

- Despite never having met Henry, and having only known Hawk a week, suggests naming their new bar the “Henry Blake Memorial Bar”

- despite not being a vet, still agrees to help treat the injured horse, just because Radar asked. 

- always shares the goodies that Peg sends from home just out of the kindness of his heart (the food, The Rooster Crowed at Midnight…)

- Helped a Korean family, at no benefit to himself, even when he was running himself ragged by doing both.

- Offered comfort and friendship to a nurse whose husband had broken up with her (yeah it ended badly but his instinct was to comfort)

- Morally objects to Hawk removing Lacy’s appendix, but even though he doesn’t condone it, he still comforts Hawk after the fact

- Steals a chopper to find Hawkeye and Margaret in enemy territory

- based on a two-second conversation, convinces the entire unit to dye their clothes/hair red, and puts a party together just for Hawk

- comes up with the idea of having a reunion for their stateside families as a way of bringing everyone closer, just because he can and he wants everyone to be happy.

- arranges for Peg and Erin to meet Radar at the airport in SF just so that he has somebody who cares waiting for him there

- literally ties himself up in emotional knots every time he can’t be there to help Peggy out because yes she can do it herself but in his eyes he should be there doing it for her, and so he worries from half a world away- he worries more about his wife than about himself and that’s telling

- Doing everything he can to find a harmonica for a little Korean boy (yet again, at no benefit to himself)

- despite having a family to go home to, his biggest concern is trying to say goodbye to Hawkeye in the finale, and he tries his fucking hardest and it just killed him that he couldn’t

- BJ hates goodbyes but in the end, his last act on the show was to give Hawkeye that proper goodbye.
