can u do rise raph x f!reader who's always(consensually) toying with his tail when bored (fluff, cos ngl biologicallyđ¤âď¸ tails for most tailed vertebraes typically are just their spine, but looong, so it's likely not arousing, but idk if this applies to turts tho so correct me if I'm wrong and if it IS arousing, feel free to ignore đŤś)
(emphasis on the đ¤âď¸)
ErM AcTuAlLy đ¤đ¤ /j
TW: Brief description of turtle genitalia, everything is sfw tho!
I imagine the tails are (at least the underside is) sensitive since the opening of the cloaca, is like just before the base, and the genitalia is inside.
For Raph, the fandom headcannons his tail as much bigger and longer, so itâs not really arousing to him besides around the base. At least thatâs how I interpret it :)
Hereâs the imagine though, hope you enjoy!
He doesnât mind it when you play with his tail. Raphâs glad that you ask first though, as his brothers (Leo) lightly kick it every now and then.
Mikey used to hug it when he was a kid and it was cute, but nowadays his tail just gets in the way. Donât get him started when it starts wagging, and a peaceful conversation is interrupted with an awkward thumping behind him.
When you first ask to âplayâ with it, he does blush a bit, before awkwardly picking it up and dropping it in your lap. It wriggles a bit as you touch it, but starts wagging when you scratch a good spot.
Raph is usually a bit worried about physical contact with humans due to his size and spikes, but the small spikes on his tail arenât very sharp. He tries to subdue his own wagging, to not smack you in the face or buck you off.
After some time, the worrying stops. Itâs almost like his tail has a mind of its own, lightly wagging as soon as you eye it. It starts to curl around you, pulling you to his plastron if you end up dozing off.
You adore the way it slightly vibrates when he churrs. When you try to hug his tail, it wriggles in your grip in a struggle to wag.
Whenever his brothers comment or make fun of your fascination with it, the end of his tail sticks up like a perking ear, as if itâs offended.
Sometimes Raph finds himself getting jealous of the affection, despite the fact itâs his tail, and he can feel your touch (though dulled from the thick scales).
Donât be surprised if youâre in the middle of scritches and two large three fingered hands suddenly scoop you up for cuddles.
Youâre the only person he allows in his lab when heâs workingÂ
Heâs tired 24/7. without his inventions, the resistance wouldnât be able to fight back against the krang. that weight is suffocating and youâre the only one who can pull him out when heâs drowning in tech and responsibilitiesÂ
He probably wouldâve worked himself to death if it werenât for you. youâre the only reason he takes a break to sleep and eat if instead of toiling away in his lab all day
Treats you almost like an assistant of sorts. itâs easily the safest job in the resistance but itâs extremely important nonethelessÂ
Invents something to follow you around and keep you safe, possibly a SHELLDON 2.0
Insists on doing almost daily check ups for you and his brothers. especially mikey. heâs fascinated by the excessive amounts of ninpo flowing through his baby brotherâs body
As the apocalypse continues on with no end in sight, he canât help but begin to loose hope. but youâre there to remind him that as long as youâre together, youâll be fine
When he gets overwhelmed or stressed out, heâll go non verbal and refuse to talk to anyone - including you. but he knows you understand and youâll be there for him when heâs ready to talk
Might create something similar to the vr room in project hail mary for you to use whenever youâre feeling down
When he died all alone on the battlefield far away from anyone he ever loved, he pulled up an old video of you singing along to some katy perry song during karaoke night far before the apocalypse started. he watched as you sang your heart out and laughed whenever you messed up the lyrics, a shaky smile spreading across his face as he sighed and closed his eyes for the very last time Â
A/n: With Deltarune ch5 coming out, I ended up binging the series again. Canât find any ROTTMNT Deltarune AUs (or any kind of crossover) so I decided to make one. And itâs x reader cuz Iâm a loser đ (pls let someone get and vibe with my nerd Drabble)
Was gonna do all the boys, but ended up just getting Donnie done. Let me know if youâd like me to continue this or do the scenario with the others!
SPOILERS FOR DELTARUNE CHAPTER 2
You had over twenty missed calls from your boyfriend, who was worried sick after you went MIA with your classmates for an entire day over⌠chalk!?
April had called him around lunchtime, asking if you ditched class to swing by the lair or something. He checked around the lair just in case, but you werenât anywhere to be found. Apparently, your teacher had asked you and two other classmates, one being a rather vicious yokai exchange student, to grab some chalk from the supply closet, and none of your group returned.Â
He grew increasingly worried, remembering how this dinosaur yokai seemed to pick on you for having an inhuman partner, and the other kid⌠was known for being oddly quiet yet mischievous. You werenât picking up your phone, and not even Donnie could locate you or your classmates. Several hours had gone by, and it was growing dark outside.Â
Donnie:
He was not panicking he was not panicking he was not-
âDonnie?â He snaps his head over to you, pacing in his hoodie in front of the school.
You were⌠perfectly fine. No injuries, no apparent life threatening situations⌠you even waved goodbye to your classmates as if youâd always been friends. Didnât she try to eat your face off once??
He drags you down to his lab, a whole clipboard of questions. Where were you? What happened? Why didnât your GPS tracker activate?? (Ignore the last one)
You werenât going to tell your boyfriend that you ended up getting sucked into a dark world of magic and fighting, so you just told him that Susie and Kris convinced you to skip class for the day.Â
Donnie doesnât believe a word of it, so you try to take his mind off by talking about your upcoming group project. It works like a charm, but you still have to spend the night, and shoo off the rest of his family fretting over your disappearance.Â
The next day, April reports that you slept through half your classes, and kept sneaking off to talk to your groupmates. What were you keeping from him?Â
At the end of the day, he sneaks into the school, just as you and your new friends are standing in front of the supply closet. SuspiciousâŚ
The yokai, âSusie,â tried to open the door, but you stopped her, noticing your favorite turtle watching from the side.
âAnd what exactly are you three trying to do inside a cramped supply closet?â He raises a drawn on eyebrow.
You opened your mouth to respond, before Susie cut you off.
âCrimes. Yâknow, just⌠doing crimes. Just gonna do some crimes and go to⌠jail. Forever. It sucks.âÂ
You slap a hand to your forehead. Donnie gives you an incredulous look. He finally turns to address her and the silent kid.
âWell, Iâve come to assist April and my S/o on their projects. As groupmates, it would be⌠adequate, if you could join us.â He gives a forced smile, âWeâll be waiting in the library.â
He walks away without another word. Thereâs an ache in his chest. Do you not trust him? Are you being sworn to secrecy?
Heâs lost in thought as he swings open the libraryâs computer lab doors to find April, grateful that the Purple Dragons are still on house arrest.Â
But what leaks out of the doors is pure darkness. Donnie takes a step back, reaching for his tech bo, but itâs too late. An invisible force sucks him in, and heâs falling into a midnight abyss.Â
âŚ
âIs that⌠another dark world?â Susie gasps at the sight. She doesnât even register your scared expression.Â
âWell⌠if we have to go on another adventure-â
Youâre gone before she can say another word.Â
âHey! Wait for me, dumbass!!â
To say that Donnie was confused would be the understatement of the century.Â
His cell phone and his panic button arenât working, and despite the cyber city around him, none of his tech has a signal. No tech, new clothes from who knows where just barely covering his softshell, and April is missing, taken by someone named Queen, who wants to make her a willing peon and turn her face robotic.Â
Just great.Â
At least the music is nice though. Hopefully his recording tech is active, as this would make a nice playlist.
He scavenges every piece of tech he can find, searching trashcans, boxes, and just barely holding himself back from taking apart one of the darkners. Heâs in the middle of a conversation slash interrogation with Hacker when you and the party find him.Â
âDonnie! Youâre okay!â
âS/o!! Ahem⌠Do you have any idea where we are?â He not so subtly checks you out for injuries.Â
âUm, yeah. Try not to freak out or anything, but⌠This place is called a dark world, and itâs like a kind of mystic alternate reality of our world.âÂ
He stares at you blanky for a solid second, before heâs quickly tapping at his glitching gauntlet, typing and talking about the existence of alternate realities and universes.
ââŚAnd of course it has to be mystic, but look at all this science!â Donnie gestures all around you. The neon city lights cast the perfect light on his shining grin.Â
He says that heâll take everything seriously, Aprilâs face is on the line after all, but by the dance battle with Sweet Capân Cakes, heâs absolutely invested. He also questions Ralsei about âDarkenersâ and this âprophecyâ his partner is involved with.
Donnie keeps grabbing things to upgrade his darkworld tech bo, nearly snatching an outlet after pulling it off an enemyâs face. Heâs able to power it and create a few base functions, along with wrapping around some ribbons the blue human guy tells him to hold on to.Â
He collects samples of every adversary the party fights. As exhausting as the search for April is, Donnie canât deny his enjoyment walking through the mini carnival with you. You both enjoy some cotton candy after playing a few games.Â
When you reach the palace with your boyfriend and party members, everyone is swiftly captured and locked into rooms decorated from their search history.Â
âHey! Kris got through his cage! Heâll unlock yours and weâll be free!â
âUm, great. Thatâs great. Dear S/o, if you could wait for me outside⌠He said nonsuspiciously.âÂ
You just barely catch a glimpse of an Atomic Lass poster before he slams the door behind him. And donât mention the glowing uranium shape in his pocket. Donât mind that at all.Â
Heâs adamant on sending you to rescue April while he fights the Queen. Donnie wonât admit it, but from what heâs been hearing about your previous adventure, he doesnât want you to go up against another big villain.
It doesnât matter if the Queen apparently cares about April or something, he still hates her. And is slightly jealous of her giant mech. (Heâll warm up to her quickly in castle town, where she practically adopts him)
He facepalms at your crewâs âultimate formâ but is quickly restrained. A giant outlet plug engulfs his face, and he finds his body moving against his will.Â
He hates it, and will get his arm shocked if it means getting out of Queenâs control. Thankfully, it doesnât resort to that, and Queenâs many subjects rebel against her.Â
Unlike everyone else though, heâs against the idea of creating another dark fountain, even without knowing what the Roaring is. (He just doesnât want this mystic jumbo to outweigh science) But when Ralsei explains it, heâs horrified. This sounds worse than he thought, and with his experience with Draxum, he knows what fear of a prophecy could do to someone.Â
After the fountain is sealed, Donnie wakes up with his head in his arm, a small puddle of drool along his elbow. He blinks his eyes open, seeing April do the same.Â
âSoâŚâ You close a hastily grabbed book awkwardly, âYou and April were asleep for a while. Mustâve been some dream, huh?â
Donnie audibly scoffs, âOh save it, that wasnât a dream.â
âLike hell it was!â April pipes up with an accusatory finger pointing.
[i honestly donât have anything clever to say this time. huh.]

He shouldâve waited on his brothers.
He shouldâve listened to Raph.
He shouldâve waited for Donnieâs assessments to conclude.
He shouldâve let Mikey come with him.
He shouldâve, he shouldâve, he shouldâve.
And now Leo found himself running faster than he thought was possible, bounding rooftop to rooftop as he was pursued by the Villain-of-the-Week.
His feet rose and fell with hesitant determination. It was a miracle he hadnât lost his footing, and he wasnât quite sure what was keeping him going aside from pure adrenaline at this point.
â CâMON, BOY! FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED! â
Chills crawled up his spine as something in his body screamed â PIVOT! â
So he did. Whatever guardian protected him today needed a raise as Y/Nâs foot pierced where he occupied only a second prior.
She carried no weapon yet split through the air with such speed that it sounded as if she struck with the thinnest, sharpest blade known to any craftsman.
â How about no! â
Leo quipped weakly as he stumbled backwards. His gaze was fixed on herâquite the angry mutant.
It had happened earlier this week, Donnie had theorized. There was a mutant trying to create some type of reverse formula, a sort of â anti-mutagen â, but all they came up with is another dose of mutagen.
Raph and Leo both agreed that it should be seized at once and properly disposed of.
The ooze-squitoes were already a pain in the ass, though only producing mutants whose novice abilities couldnât quite reach as dangerous a level as the Hamato brothers.
â GYACKââ
Leo choked as his heels slammed into the rim of the roofâs edge. His eyes shrunk in fear as Y/N dug their heel into the concrete and shot off towards him like a bullet straight from the chamber.
Gravity reached up and yanked him down the buildingâs side desperately, allowing him a narrow escape from the angered rabbit. She fell after him, well beyond reach.
This woman had been in the wrong place at the wrong timeâa classic scenario.
The mutant swore the mutagen they created was their cure. They begged, pleaded, and finally fought to keep it in their hands.
Desperation was a crazy stimulant for strength.
Amidst their tussle, Mikey grabbed ahold of the vialâsuch a small amount, it shouldnât have been so potent!
He threw it to Raphael who threw it to Donnie who fumbled it towards Leo after the mutant grabbed ahold of his robotic limbs and /yanked/.
Leoâs fingertips grazed the vial as he haphazardly leapt to catch it, only to find himself staring down at a hefty fall to the New York roads below.
He quickly produced a portal, and on the other side was Y/N. Just a poor girl in a poor position, turning the corner of an alleyway after hearing something that sounded like an injured animal. She worried it might be a cat or a dog hit from the busy street over.
Pure intentions.
Instead, she was met with the frightening sight of a blindingly bright circle burning through the space before her. Out came a swirling test tube and a startled mutant with a blue bandana.
It burst open as it collided into her, soaking as Leo followed after and quiet literally slammed her down onto the cold hard concrete.
Shortly after that accident, they were unable to find her again for weeks.
For whatever reason, Y/N suddenly appeared after almost a month, hellbent on getting ahold of the brothers.
â We can talk about this! â
Leo yelled as they both fell along the length of some of the tallest buildings in New York.
Y/Nâs expression twisted painfully as she beared her teeth in a snarl.
â Are you KIDDING ME?! â
Her body maintained a humanoid figure, albeit with rabbit-like features. After the incident, her ears had lengthened and grew fur, resembling floppy bunny ears. Her nose and mouth altered into a snout with a little button nose and whiskers that only heightened her sensesâquite overstimulating for a previously-human.
Even Y/Nâs hands morphed, transforming the nails into something sharper than human or rabbit, more catlike in their lethality. Complete with a little cotton ball tail and legs more geared towards powerful jumps and kicks than regular human walking, she was the spitting image of â far-from-human. â
â UghhhRRRRHH! â
Y/N gave a growl that grew into a pitchy screech as she kicked her feet for momentum. Her falling position quickly turned into a spin, and with enough force focused in her heel, she redirected the spin into a heavy drop-kick.
Leo sucked in air too sharply for it to sound remotely like a fearful gasp. His Ĺdachi sliced the air below him to create another portal. His gravity shifted as he fell across another rooftop and scrambled out of the way of the hellbent rabbit decimating the ground instead.
â Come on! We can talk, I swear. Mutant life isnât even that bad, I mean look at me? I was born this way, and I turned out fiââ
If only his legs were running as much as his mouth did. He watched in horror as Y/N recovered faster than usual and leapt toward him ferally. Leo was backing up as he spoke, recreating yet another trip backwards.
Her hands connected with his shoulders, gripping tightly, as they both fell into the ground.
â Talk? You want to TALK? â
â Thatâs all Iâve been saying! â
Y/Nâs chest heaved as she glared down at him with wild eyes. One hand pressed hard into his shoulders, illiciting a sharp hiss in pain from Leo. Her other hand pulled backs her index and middle fingersâpaws? paw-ingers?â pressed together as the rest of her fingers tucked tight.
Leo could already see his life flashing before his eyes. He should not have confronted her alone.
â Fine! â
She growled, catching him off guard.
â Letâs talk! Letâs talk about how Iâve been TREATED since turning into THIS! Letâs talk about what people have DONE to me! LETâS TALK ABOUT HOW YOU RUINED MY LIFE WHEN YOU THREW THAT-THATâTHATâ!!â
â Mutagen? â
â SHUT UP! â
Her voice cracked with emotional pitch, her fingers folding into a fist as she instead punched him across the cheek.
Leoâs head snapped to the left before returning back to staring up at her. His chest was heaving just as wildly hers. The moon above them framed her in an almost ethereal way that lit the way for guilt to claw up his throat.
â You made me into THIS! I had enough to deal with, and no offense to you, but I do NOT make a cute mutant! â
Y/Nâs lips tightened into a frown that obviously held only enough anger to keep from crying. For a moment, she faltered. That fighting spirit wavered as her gaze trailed from his face to the ground beside him, over to whatever was to the left of them.
Maybe it was the birds circling his head after that hit, but Leo was started to find himself entranced as he was able to get a closer look at this particular villain. The nightly glow casted on Y/Nâs face illuminated the more minute features that only a trainedâor adoringâeye could catch. All the wrinkles, moles, freckles, things like that. Her whiskers, her nose, the fur, her ears, and how her hair framed her bunny face..
Leo felt defeated. He was at a loss for words. She wasnât even really deserving of the âvillainâ monikerâwell, aside from the â trying to kill him and his brothers â part.
No, but he had a few words in particular left.
Rather, he was at a loss for anything more intelligent to say.
Y/N pulled her arm back again, and Leo didnât flinch. Her index and middle fingers connected tightly, her other digits folded. There was nothing for her in this society, not as a mutant!
She would kill them! All of them! Itâs their fault! Whoâs going to accept all this anger?
Whoâs going to accept HER?
â I look so, so.. STUPID! So, just, Iâm soâ! â
â Beautiful⌠â
â WhâGuhâShâ.. Hwuh-HuhâŚ? â
Y/N completely weakened, sitting all her weight into Leo as she just⌠gave up.
The fight in her fizzled instantly. Her voice lost its sharpness.
â You.. ⌠Shut up.. â
Leo stared up at her, dumbfounded. He didnât know that would work. His lips moved faster than his brain. That wasnât a plan, it wasnât a clever strategy to take her by surprise.
It was just his thoughts: plain, simple, raw.
â Youâre beautiful.â
Leo repeated, doubling down with a clearer tone. Louder, too.
The words stung. They felt bitter to Y/N. Emotion welled in her chest, the kind that felt suffocating. Tears welled up in her eyes.
â Shut up, stop it! â
Her voice wavered.
Leo moved as barely as he could, sitting up on his elbows to get a better look at the now-calm villain sat upon him.
â Itâs hard not to say when youâre perfectly framed by the moon. ⌠Youâre breathtaking.. â
Y/N snapped her head behind her, looking up at the moon. Its reflection swirled in her eyes as her hand planted firm against Leoâs chest. There was no strength behind the gesture. It carried with it the tone of â donât even try to get away â but held none of the intimidating weight.
Tonight, the moon was overbearing in the sky. The clouds were scarce, and of course the stars wouldnât be so visible in New Yorkâs sky, so it was just the moon.
âŚ
All alone..
Y/N slowly turned back to Leo. Her shoulders dropped as a gurgling noise bubbled up her throat. It quickly transformed into the rawest, most vulnerable of sobs.
Even the way her tears rolled down her fuzzy cheeks was drawing him in.
Was this the innocent charm of a bunny, pulling him in until she could take the final strike?
âŚ
Leo thought for a second that heâd let someone this beautiful kill him if she promised to be the last sight he saw.
â ⌠Iâm sorry for.. this.. â
Leo gestured to her bunny-likeness
Y/Nâs hands rose up to cup her face as she cried into her palms, shrinking into herself.
He shifted his weight into his right elbow, maintaining its propped-position, as his left hand reached to plant gently on Y/Nâs back. He gave the lightest of nudges, an invitation for comfort if she were to accept it.
Y/N fell against his plastron like deadweight, letting him hold her.
He couldnât remember the last time he felt this horrible for the people mutated or affected even by his mistakes..
It wasnât too long until he finally saw his brothers in the distance.

â ⌠How do you know where to pin everything? â
Leo was comfortably sat on his beauâs bed, leaning back with palms flat against their floral comforter. The sheets were neatly laid, tucked at the corners, and finished up with a little drapery along the edges to cover the underside.
A box was peeking through the bed skirt; its lid laid toppled over beside it, and the contents were dragged out in a chaotic searching-for-something fashion.
His legs were crossed lazily as his gaze settled upon the hunched form of his lovely artist.
â Oh, well.. â
Y/N perked up, pulled from her focus on the fabric edges. A few pins stuck sharp-side-out between her lips, occasionally plucked out and then pushed through the velvet material cascading around an obviously well-loved mannequin.
She paused and took the pins out of her mouth as she turned back to look at Leo.
â I do have patterns that tell me where everything connects, but by this point I kind of just⌠know? â
Y/N grins sheepishly, shrugging after their rather plain explanation.
Leo was obviously expecting a more interesting answer. He watched her turn back to her work, slipping in a couple more pins. It looked so easy, but he could just feel something in his chest telling him otherwise.
Silence blanketed the two both aside from the clinking of needles in their tin and the swishing of fabricâboth on the mannequin and upon Y/Nâs body as they seemed to bend and bow around the figure.
It was meant to be a sort of wrap skirt, a velvet one. The fabric was pinned to form cascading ruffles that spiraled down. Hopefully the end product would be a delightfully spinny skirt, albeit a smidgen too fancy for casual wear.
Luckily, New York was the hub for questionable fashion choices and ill-fitted occasions.
Unfortunately, the silence was starting to get to Leo. He loved sitting in Y/Nâs company, but he would have much rather preferred her attention. Blasphemous, though. Heâd feel too guilty to take her from something that obviously made her so happy⌠Ugh!
What could he do to get both her attention and let her do her artsy thingâŚ
âŚ
Ah! He brightened with an idea, rising up off the bed and striking a pose.
â Would you â kind of just know â how to make me a matching outfit? â
â Whatââ
Y/N straightened in her crouched position, back to Leo for only a few seconds. Just enough to make his hand twitch. Did he say the wrong thing? Was that a dumb idea?
As he was starting to falter in his sauve, â genius â idea, Y/N rose to her feet and rushed up to Leo so quick he squeaked in surprise. She took his hands and stared up at him with the biggest eyes shining in delight.
His heart nearly vanished from its chamber just to lay itself in her loving hands.
â You mean it?! â
â I love you. â
â WhâI love you too? Thatâs not a yes or no, Leo! â
He shook his head to get out of that stunned stupor, only for Y/N to take his head in her hands and force dozens of kisses on his face.
â Oh we have to start right away! I need more bolts of velvet! Thereâs a PERFECT shade of Cyan for you at Michelleâs! You go, go! No, wait, take me! We go! â
Y/N ran across the entire apartment, collecting her thingsâphone, wallet, a notebook for sketches and laundry lists, and finally Leoâs swords ( which always sat neatly with her umbrella at the door in a cute upcycled vase. )
Leo loved his spunky little whirlwind. She was plenty of times hard to keep up with, but he would never ask for anything else.
She was lovely.
â Wait, why do you say it like you had this planned? â
â I always plan you a matching fit! â
Y/N took his hand and quickly clambered through the bedroom window, out onto the fire escape.
â Wait, always? â
â Yes, now letâs go! They close in an hour and itâs across town. â
Y/N took his arm and wrapped it around her waist then began flipping through the pages in the notebook, muttering about each one.
Leo settled for a laughing scoffâa quarter disbelief, a pinch of â oh brother, I canât believe her â, and a cup of â what the princess requests, the princess receives. â
Was there anything he would do for you?
âââ-
There was nothing more impressive than how quickly Y/N could work, especially when there was a flame lit under her tuchus! It had only been a couple of days since he made the suggestion of marching outfits.
In that timeframe, he had been measured, used as a living-mannequin, and then stood in the mirror a dozen times for micro-fixes he never noticed but somehow Y/N insisted existed.
The end result was the current sight of him in velvet slacks with matching ruffles that began at his knees and down opposite of each other to form a type of /\ pattern down to the cuffs.
His gaze shifted slightly in the reflection to see Y/N beside him, soaking up at every detail in how they fit.
â Itâs gorgeous! So cute!! â
She was giddy beside him, bouncing in a way that swayed her matching velvet skirt. The bolts of fabric she collected were inversions of each otherâLeoâs being cyan swirling with brown florals, and Y/Nâs being brown with swirling cyan florals! Think the beautiful florals from the early 2000s, like a floral Frutiger aesthetic <3
Leo gave a loving sigh as he watched her dance. This was the perfect moment to share a romantic sway to music playing in their heads, and maybe he would hum something aloud just to share a romantically cringe yet vulnerably intimate moment with her. It was the perfect idea to make her fall even deeper in love, for her love to rival his all the same.
Leo reached for Y/Nâs hand, a light smile curling on his features.
His fingers gently stepped between hers as she turned to look up at him with those glittering eyes, glossy.
â Y/Nââ
â Oh look, my darling brother has decided to leave the door wide open. â
â HI LEO! â
â Whoa, Y/N, you look amazing! â
Donnie stood in the doorway with crossed arms and a smug grin. Mikey nearly bounced off the door frame to squeeze in and mess with Leo, stopping only to gasp dramatically at Y/Nâs lovely skirt.
His gasp rose an octave as he looked at Leoâs pants, and just climbed higher and higher as he gestured between the two.
Raph stood sheepishly behind Donnie, waving with a toothy grin.
Leo wanted to fall to his knees. Instead he settled for a long drawn out sigh as Y/N left his side to join hands with Mikey.
â Havenât you guys ever heard of privaââ
ââNope!â
His three brothers responded in coordinated sync. Donnie and Raph followed Mikey, watching him and Y/N giggle a storm while spinning each other around.
â Did you make this, Y/N?! â
Mikey slowed them both, his hand lowering to touch the ruffles.
â Yeah! I usually just make regular clothes like tops and stuff, but I had an idea after Michelleâs expanded their fabric section! â
Y/N couldâve sworn she heard a disgruntled noise from Leo but forgot about it as soon as it happened.
Donnie followed suit with robotic limbs stretching from his back and holding a part of the material at her feet. He stroked it with his finger, mumbling all types of observations.
â And you made Leoâs pantaloons, I presume? â
Donnie cocked his browline as he thumbed the skirtâs hem and looked over Leoâs pants.
Leo seemed to shrink a bit, slightly embarrassed at this point. He needed to take back control! His brothers were quite literally fawning over HIS girl! During his time with her!
His attention!
His moment!!
â She most certainly didââ
Leoâs expression took on its characteristic shit-eating tone as he struck a dramatic wide-leg stance with his hands miming a tie.
ââWhy, are you jealous, Donnasmello~<3â
Donnie rose up and jabbed a finger in Leoâs direction, already falling for the bait and ready to go down fighting.
â Could you make us clothes too? Matching? â
Raphâs voice perked up, stirring all the brothersâ attention on him. Per usual, he wore a sweet smile as his arm rose to rub the back of his neck in a common gesture of anxiety.
â Ah, unless that would be too difficult.. Especially considering Raphâs.. Raph-y size. â
There was a few beats of silence. All but Leo worried maybe it was a bad askâthey obviously all hoped for a Y/N-made gift too, especially given their anatomy not allowing the most room for swanky clothes that fit their styles, but maybe this particular project was too personal!
Had they overstepped? Did they insult? Please answer quickly?!
Leo, on the other hand, already knew what she would say in response.
The silence was just because of the volcano of emotion bubbling up.
Donnie and Mikey turned back to see Y/Nâa face brightening up with a grin that grew bigger and bigger until it was quite literally ear-to-ear. Her feet started pitter-pattering against the floor with the vigor of the worldâs fastest tap dancer until she erupted into leaps of joy.
â YES! YES, YES, YES, a hundredâno, a thousandâNO, A MILLION TIMES YES! â
Y/N vaulted herself into Raphâs arms, nearly taking the big olâ lug down to the ground with the sheer weight of her and her joy.
Leo watched as she quickly went back into work mode, measuring tape stretched thin. She was starting to boss Donnie around to bring her pen and paper, which he wielded in two robotic limbs that wrote and drew for her. Mikey joined, matching her process by measuring Donnie while she measured Raphael.
Didnât take very long before Splinter busted in to ask what all the ruckus was. And yes, of course he wanted to join. Though, he wanted a velvet robe, not pants or a skirt. That was important, make sure to note it!
It was heartwarming. Something not even Leo could get upset about. He loved Y/N, and his jealousy fizzled into something lighter, kinder, as he watched how much she cared about his family, too..
She was fun. Bright. Loving. Dumb. Smart. Amazing. Hilarious! Perfect.. He couldnât have asked for better..
Someone who could love not only him but also his brothers? His dad? April, Cass, and Casey Jr. too?
She had stood by him even when he was a pain during the alien invasion. Y/N was always there, always present..
â How do I look? â
Raph stepped out in pants Y/N made. This pair was red and brown swirled, turned into a more relaxed straight leg fit.
â ME TOO! â
Mikey bounced around him in orange/brown pants with a barrel-leg fit.
â Step aside, boys, the star of the show is here. â
Donnie pushed past in bell-bottom pants in the obvious purple-brown fusion. He struck a dramatic pose, leaning like a damsel in distress with his robotic limbs catching him.
â Psh, Star? You donât even come close to the glory ofââ
Leo stepped in front of them all, posing like a cool guy from a 90s movie like The Outsiders or something.
ââthe original.â
They all looked expectantly at Y/N. She was clapping and blowing kisses.
â They caââ
ââNOT SO FAST! â
Splinter shoved the boys with such force that Y/N thought she heard something like bowling pins getting thrown?
Wait, was that the Wii Sports Bowling Alley victory sound?
â It is obvious that I look the best and there is no contest! You boys pale in my shadow! Oh, butââ
His tail wrapped around Y/N and pulled her to stand beside him.
She goofily struck a pose alongside him.
â All except Y/N, of course. Only she and I look amazing. You boys can leave. â
â DAD! â
As the brothers quickly recovered and ran to play fight with their dad, Leo sat up and remained. He watched everyone playing togetherâeveryone, including Y/N..
It wasnât just him and his family and her.
She was apart of the family now..
It was almost poetic how one could become Hamato, regardless of their strength..
â Leo? â
Y/N reached her hand to him, laughing as she shoved Mikey away playfully with a â hey! quit that, haha! â
Leo stared at her hand before dropping his head, shaking lightly, and chuckling. He rose up and stepped until his hand met hers, allowing himself to become weightless enough to get dragged along easily.
â Yeah, yeah, Iâm here. â
He leaned down to press a kiss against her hair, lavishing in how the strands tickled his face.
Rating - T // Status - On-going ( 38/? ) // My summary - An episodic x reader friends to lovers story. Slight canon-divergence, as in the Kraang invasion didn't happen when the guys were younger, and for now they're just casually fighting crime.
Vira's mad ramblings â
If you thought this absolute masterpiece wasn't going to the front of my rec list you're gravely mistaken (SO WRONG. what are you even doing in my house if you haven't already read this fic???). It is SO FREAKING CUTE, a real slow-burn for the people who love them, and such an up-lifter for when you're feeling down.
I've even written a fanfic FOR THIS FANFIC because it is so, so near and dear to my heart. (( If I ever do more fanfic 'book' covers this would be the one I'd start with. ))
It's got friends to lovers, it's got pining and angst and AAARGWHHSGSHS IT'S SO WHOLESOME and sweet it makes me feel like a 13yo reading fic for the first time again <3 !!! ( and god the slowburn burrrrns )
And it might seem a little casual, like oh there's not much happening beside the friendship/romance and the slice of life type of stuff BUT I promise you for a less plot-heavy story this is absolutely worth the read and never once bored me. It's been unfinished for some time but the last update basically wraps up the main relationship plot anyway so I'd say it doesn't matter, even if you don't normally read on-going fics. Just go read it. Trust and believe it's good. And don't pester the author abt updates or I will find you and throw you into the sun <3
[okay listen up cuz the context for this one is very important. these headcanons are for the good timeline, not the bad future that casey jr came from. leoâs in his early thirties, recently married and not living with his brothers. alr i think thatâs it, enjoy! đĽšđŤś]
Future!LeonardoÂ
Loves reminding you that the day he married you was one of the best days of his life
Gets up early almost every single morning to make you coffee and breakfast in bedÂ
Loves cuddling up with you in bed after a long night of patrolling the cityÂ
Still gets frequent PTSD flashbacks from the krang invasion. he often lashes out while in the middle of a episode, yelling or even hitting anyone whoâs nearby
Takes you out on a date at least once a weekÂ
Likes to randomly surprise you with gifts. youâll get to work and find your favorite candy all wrapped up with a bow on your desk with a little sticky note saying âhave fun at work!! love you <3 xoxo ur favorite turtle in blueâ
You were the only one who could comfort him after splinter died. he had locked himself in his room for days, refusing to eat or drink until you begged him to come out and talk to you
Movie marathons with you are definitely one of his favorite pass times. heâll yap nonstop throughout the movie, his arm wrapped loosely around your shoulders and his hand resting lightly on your thighÂ
He gets super clingy whenever heâs drunk. heâll refuse to let go of you, hiccuping and murmuring random compliments
Absolutely loves taking you to the Hamato family get togethers, especially on holidays like Christmas and Halloween
request: hi hil! I read your work and it was amazing! I was hoping you would write the rise boys with a vigilante s/o? (Gn) but the boys don't know that yet and one day s/o is fighting the foot or someone, you decide, then their turtle bf shows up and helps them. S/o forgot they were in costume for a minute before running to their turtle in shining shell and kissing them, so it turns into a whole thing and s/o unmasks themself, how do the boys react??

authorâs note: bro I finally finished the Vigilantes series (NOT CLICKBAIT)?!?!?!? damn coming up with four unique plots is hard⌠I usually clock out at three and struggle for the fourth haha! Well, this oneâs for the reckless Raph girlies that would rather die than be defeated. Eat good. curse you Raph for having such a long vigilante name

The days following the Kraang almost-invasion were rough.
Buildings had been collapsed, people killed, and communities ruined.
There were still plenty of efforts made to find missing persons, and some stretches of the city were yet to be cleaned of the pink alien goop that turned people mindless and violent.Â
The four turtle mutantsâPopularized as the â Hamato Family â, Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello, and Michelangeloâhad been praised across all stretches of New York.
Though many were frightened by their appearance and claimed they were a foreboding existence, the majority were too thankful to be alive to really mind their otherworldly bodies and abilities.
It was the clean-up that debuted Y/Nâs vigilante career.
Too many people were afraid and not enough ready to step up, that much was painfully apparent.
The â kraang slime â left behind was discovered to multiply if left alone for too long. This prompted a need to accelerate the cleaning project altogether, and though there were many hands to rebuild initially, the alienâs multiplying ability proved to be too frightening for regular citizens.
It wasnât too long before many of the clean-up crews went into hiding, afraid the masses were multiplying as a way to foreshadow a Kraang resurgence.
They believed it was safer to go into hiding than to risk it in the streets.
Watching as the brothers took to the streets and worked twice, thrice, and quadruple times as hard to make up for the dwindling number of hands on deck inspired Y/N.
They took to the streets themselves, trying to clean and lessen any stress on the boys, but Raph was unable to find comfort at the thought of his beloved helping out.
The people of New York, sure. He cared about them, truly, but itâs hard to connect on a personal level to so many strangers. They just happened to⌠blend together, into a conglomerate..Â
But you?
No..
He remembered how it felt to be dominated by the Kraang, to lose every part of himself to that writhing mess of foreign cellsâŚÂ
That was a nightmare..
He couldnât let Y/N experience that.Â
So he would leave you home instead, and make up all sorts of excuses. Just to keep you safe.
And thus began the efforts of â The Red Angel of Preventing Harm! â ⌠Part 2!
âŚ
â Red Angel â, for short, curtesy of Raphâs earlier days as the sewer-hero of this city. Â
Y/N became well known amongst small communities that any citywide movements failed to noticeâwhether purposely or not.
As the â Red Angel â, Y/N would take to the streets with an ⌠outlandish weapon of choice, to say the least.Â
See, as was made apparent by up-and-coming reporter, April OâNeil, a local university had been outed for trying to pass off a herbicide as â harmless â when really it was formidable enough to eradicate the impending alien threat.Â
Now, for the composition of Y/Nâs ⌠weapon.
To paint a picture, have you ever seen Ponyo? The classic love story between a sea creature and a boy. Fujimoto, Ponyoâs father, is against itâso much so that he climbs to land to retrieve his daughter who has gone along with the human boy. While on land, as a sea creature himself, he survives through use of a backpack style humidifier that wets the floor in front of him at the push of a nozzle.
The water sprays out similar to a spritzer. A clever idea.Â
One with which Y/N agreed profusely with.
Thus, their weapon of choice as nothing more than a regular-degular mortal, was a backpacked-tank of that very same â herbicide â, albeit watered-down to elongate its usability.
â Hello! Thank you for calling me. â
Y/N bowed politely to the community members who had come out to greet them.Â
â No, thank you, Red Angel⌠No one comes to this neighborhood, and weâre much too old to take care of the.. â
An elderly woman speaking on behalf of her neighbors had stepped forward to express gratitude. Her voice trailed off as she glanced nervously at the railing.Â
Everyone stood atop a small bridge, underneath was a slight creek that fed through tunnels that likely eventually trailed into the sewer systems.Â
Y/N mentally noted relief that the boys now lived in an abandoned transit line instead of the sewers.Â
â I understand. If youâll excuse me. â
They gave another polite bow then walked towards the railing. Their hand laid against it, inspecting the rust vining along. Just a leap of faith. Everything will work out.
It always does.
Pressing their weight down into the palm holding on, they leapt over and into the shallow water below with a shallow splash. Y/Nâs vigilante costume included a visor, which both shielded their eyes yet also provided visibility in the darker environments.Â
From head to toe, the ensemble had combat boots of a very â Raph-approved â caliber and charcoal-denim jeans tucked in tight around the ankles. No chance for gunk to slip in!
Creativity had quickly ran out as the top consisted of nothing less of a regular t shirtâthrifted without a second thought and plain as can be. The costume was tied together with a leather jacket, arguably the best or maybe second best part of the fit...
Not fun in the summer, but certainly safe provided a Kraang-zombie intended to sink its teeth into their arm.Â
Below the visor was a gas mask; and though it aided in further identity-obscuring, it also helped cover the stench.Â
Surely you didnât think Kraang smelled⌠pleasant? Even remotely delightful?
They carried a putrid stench, something between rotten food, death, and used-up litter. Whether this was a natural state or just the byproduct of semi-sentient goop slogging about with the bare minimum instructions, the left-behind smelled overwhelmingly bad for a mortalâs senses.Â
As Y/N trekked down the tunnel, deeper into the darkness, they grew even more aware of even the most minuscule of sounds.
â Thisâll just be a simple clean-up⌠Spritz of sumâthis, nâI can go on to the next client.. Easy-peasy. â
Each step was taken carefully, eyes searching the darkness for any sense-making. Y/Nâs hands gripped the spritzing mechanism, be it for grounding or idly, who knows.Â
The subtle, rhythmic water drip from the ceiling was the only part of this search that gave some type of solaceâa constant, something reliable. It was as much a mundane sewer as a sewer could be, with some sort of slimy-glisteny gunk painting the walls edges where the still water sat. Y/N expressed unspoken gratitude over the mask filtering out such unpleasant scents.
Their trek down the path added to the atmospheric drip of whatever sat at the top of these pipesâcondensation, maybe? Oh, or maybe itâs from the recent rain. These pipes do fill up. Probably just rain from last night.
The residual rainâs subtle drip-drop was accompanied by the acoustic splashes of heavy boot-footfalls.
The entranceâs light grew dimmer and dimmer the further Y/N walked. Impatience filled the space light left.
â Where is this thing? Did these people mistake something else for the Kraang residue? â
Their face twisted in confusion, eying the shmuck where the wall met the water. Algae, maybe? Or mold?
Turning back, they noticed the light filtering in from the entrance was so far it was but a speck that could barely be made out.Â
There was a sort of ferally-human feeling settling in their stomach. Something was teetering on the edge. A fullness filled their chest. It was as if their innate human instincts were clocking into something they had yet to seeâŚ
     â ⌠Something feels.. off.. But what? â
Looking around provided nothing out of the ordinary. It was just a simple drainage tunnel, dripping with what remained of a previous storm..
Drip.. drip..
Drip.. drip..
There was a sound from the tunnelâs entranceâa voice calling out. Y/N subconsciously acknowledged it as one of the people getting antsy and checking up on them. Not important. Where was the target?Â
What did these people see?
Drip.. drip..
Thereâs nothing here?
Drip.. drip..
Is this mission a bust already? A waste of time?
â What am I missing? â
Drip.. drip..
Drip..
Y/N stiffened, gaze slowly shifting upwards as the hair on the back of their neck rose. Goosebumps trailed across their body quickly.Â
     â ⌠It hasnât.. rained.. in a while..â
Their heart dropped as they stared at what previously looked like nothing more than some type of algae or other muck that tends to line these tunnels. Water dripping down from above this consistently.. They reached for the miniature flashlight keychain clasped at their belt loop and raised it.
See, in darkness like this, the visor did provide visibility, albeit low. Nervously, Y/N tapped the on button, their flashlight illuminated the ceiling above them, revealing the entire stretch to be a sickly, unnatural pink-ish shade.
That visibility was an unremarkable colorless spectrum of grays.Â
Y/N couldnât have known what coated the ceiling without proper lighting.
ââ-
â No, Iâm just saying! Itâs weird for a vigilante to be hitting the streets with Raphâs name.. â
Raph was pacing in the living room, pausing occasionally to look over his audience upon the couchâthe ever-so-present Mikey, the clearly-not-listening Leo, and the here-in-spirit Donnie.Â
     â Maybe theyâre just a huge fan~.. â
Mikey reasoned in a sing-songy tone. He was always a fan of helpers, so even if there was a vigilante out there using one of their names, as long as it was in good spirit, who cares?Â
     â Either that, or a grade A stalker. â
Leo piped up, gaze lifting inquisitively from the magazine he was passing time with. Something of a teenâs magazine talking about latest trends.Â
â What if itâs someone whoâs trying to replace you? â
Leo continued, turning to Donnie expecting some secret third option. Strangely though, his theorizing fanatic brother was abstaining from participating in conspiracy. Thereâs no way he was that absorbed in whatever was displayed on his devices?
When the know-it-all Donnie kept quiet for too suspiciously long, Leo settled for a quick backhand to the bicep.
Donnie responded with an immediate yelp and a robotic ligament outstretched from his back. It pointed in Leoâs direction with a scrutinizing air before suddenly scruffing him and dangling him above the couch. Out of hitting reach, of course.
â WuhâHEYââ
ââWhatever the reason, theyâre certainly no bother to us. Nope, nada, completely scientifically insignificant. Plus, Iâve already been following their location. I donât think they are of any⌠Harm, per se. â
Donnie squinted, expression reading sloppily of â I know something but am not allowed to let-on about it â and â Iâve said too much â thrown together.
After all, there was no way you couldâve created that spritzing contraption or even harnessed that herbicide in such an inspiring way alone.
It only made sense you had an accomplice who was paid handsomely in the form of metal scraps and other materials the scientist used diligently.Â
Said complice had lasted thus far without blowing your cover, but it was nothing short of a miracle. This brother wasnât exactly the best choice for secret-keeping.
Raph squinted at his brother, sensing something awry but sacrificed that rabbit hole in exchange for the task at hand.
â ⌠And? So where are they now? Whatâre they doing? Why is this vigilante doing good under Raphâs name? Donât trust it, not one bit. â
Leo was struggling for his freedom from the scruffing robotic hand. He paused with comical stillness and crossed his legs as if sitting in a recliner with a humble cup of tea. In a dismissive manner, he waved his hand while grinning lackadaisically.
â You worry too much, dear brother. This is why youâre already starting on Raph Chasm numero dos! â
Raphâs hand immediately shot up to his forehead, expression melting from sudden fright to a scowl as he recalled the last time he was warned of the infamous â Raph Chasm. â
â Still not funny, Leo. â
â What? Iâm just saying. If youâre that worried over this hero-potentially-villain, why donât you confront them? â
Mikey nearly skyrocketed out of his seat, feet excitedly pitter-pattering against the floor.
â Ooh! What a great idea. Raph, you should go meet them! It could become a team-upâmaybe they can become our friend <3 â
He was already in la-la-land, imagining what this masked hero could provide to the teamâŚÂ
â ⌠Yeah.. maybe you guys are right. Raph needs to face this head-on! Donnie, where are they? â
Donnie, already imagining the earful heâd receive from you, reluctantly projected the cameras that had tracked your movements.Â
â Looks like â Red Angel â is in the western district in the Edgewood neighborhood. There must have been a call-in about Kraang material in the area, sinceâas Iâm sure youâve already been made privy toâ this particular vigilante works via client-calls. â
Raph stared at the screen, watching you bow to the community members.Â
â Alright.. Raphâs got this. Itâll be a simple talkâjust asking them why they know me and what they get out of Raphâs name! âÂ
He was trying to pump himself up, wiggling off the nerves while Mikey cheered him on.
â Oh yeah! You show that fear whoâs boss, Raph! â
Sheepishly he thanked Mikey then set out to find them.Â
As he left, there was a small scuffle behind.
     â Oh. â
     â AGHââ
Something about Donnie dropping Leo, Leo getting upset, blah-blah-blah.
ââ-
Raph landed near the bridge, over the entrance they disappeared into shortly before he left. Before he could enter, a small human grabbed his hand with urgency.
     â Wait, Mister Turtle-Hero! âÂ
He glanced down at the kid and hummed in confused acknowledgment.
â You shouldnât go in there! â
     â Hm? And whyzzat? â
â Because Red Angel went in, and they still havenât come out in forever! â
Raph glanced down, growing a bit worried for an assumed-stranger.Â
â Ah, itâs alright, kid. Mister Turtle-Hero will check it out. â
     â Mmâkay.. â
The kid grumbled, clearly distressed but not quite sure how to voice it.Â
Raph took it as his push and descended upon the tunnel. For someone of his stature, it was a tight fit, and that made him feel sickeningly claustrophobic.Â
There was a dripping sound, but something was off about it.. It sounded distant.. Slightly heavier than water..
Vigilante or not, â Red Angel â was another denizen of New York he had sworn to protect.Â
Trailing down the tunnel, he already felt on edge. Something was off, unsettling. He was aware that this vigilante was hunting residuals of the Kraangâs zombie-virus, so surely this tunnel mustâve been infested with relation.Â
     â HelloâŚ? â
Drip.. drip..
And that â something â was stirring up unsavory memories. Raph watched as a little light illuminated far ahead. That mustâve been Red Angel, he noted, pace quickening to catch up with them.Â
He stopped dead in his tracks as the light sputtered out and clattered against the ground. The thud echoed the tunnel alongside a deeply frightened screech that spurred the red yokai into immediate action.Â
     â RED ANGEL! âÂ
Raph shouted.
This tunnel was slowly getting consumed by a piece of Kraang material that had quite obviously been eating well. It must have loved the slimy darkness and thrived like the scum it was.Â
The dripping had been the pink alienâs goop expanding and breaking off in a cyclical fashion, likely feeding the problem of the city clean-up taking so long.Â
This felt like a nursery of sorts. Were there more, just like this?
As Raph came closer, the sight felt too familiar. You were struggling against the weblike alien, the pink goop fighting back with a shot from the ceiling that held you flat against the ground. Pathetically writhing to break free as it covered your face.
He reeled his arm back, steeling himself to strike, but something about how the webbing began constellating across your chestâobviously searching for a way inâ made his breathing cease.Â
Raph could remember it all. The alien forcing his muscles under its control, invading his body in ways he wished he could forget.Â
He wasnât over it yet.Â
     â GYACKâhâhelp! â
The sentient goop had lifted their body and slammed it against the ground, drawing out a small, pathetic â help â. Their voice was so startlingly small that it shocked Raph into striking. His fist tore through the thin rope, dislodging its grip on Y/N.
He stood between Red Angel and the substance, gaze glancing back confusedly at the glowing liquid leaking behind them.
     â Uh, I think something you have is⌠spilling? â
Y/N turned quickly, and sure enough, the sudden tussle and slam had caused them to hit the ground with force strong enough to crack the tank. The â herbicide â petered out of the thin crack, running into a small-but-growing puddle too close for comfort.Â
At the thought of making contact with such a harmful acid, Y/N sprung forward, colliding with Raphâs shell.Â
Ouch.Â
     â Oofââ
They mustered, stumbling to the side.
Getting slammed into the ground after being caught so off guard sure did the trick at completely discombobulating someone.Â
His arm shot out to catch them. The warmth of his hand on their hip was a familiar relief amidst their spinning head.
â We have to get out of here! âÂ
His voice was laced with rising alarm. Too many frightening memories were welling up. This was getting to be too much for him. No amount of interrogating was worth this mess.Â
Y/N shook their head.
â No! I have to.. Ugh, my head.. I have to.. Whatâs the word.. What am I trying to say.. â
They gripped the spritzer, their weight leaning more and more into Raph.
â I.. have to finish what I started, Raph. â
He flinched at hearing his name from the vigilanteâs mouth, the taunts of Leo coming back to echo â grade-A stalker â. This vigilante knew him too familiarly.
That, coupled with this uncomfortable moment was enough to have him getting more suspicious.Â
Just who is this masked person? Why do they say his name so personally?Â
Raph was slowly starting to develop a theory of who was beneath the mask that he didnât want to believe. His heavy hand rests on their shoulder, trembling in a noticeable way.
     â Please.. â
Y/N glanced up at him and felt their chest turn. He looked uncharacteristically small, and that just made them angry. Confused why he was here, angry that this whole kraang debacle was dragging on, and a teensy bit relieved he had come at just this moment.Â
This whole debacle was so⌠exhausting. If only the kraang never came. If only Raphael hadnât sacrificed himself so.
If only he hadnât given Y/N the fright of a lifetime when they saw his hulking kraang-infested form, terrified that he was in a state he could never come back from..
That alone was enough.
Steeling themselves, Y/Nââ Red Angel ââ lunged forth as the kraang material shot out. They swung the nozzle towards it and gripped tightly upon the rubber ball to release the acidic mixture. As it met with the alien goop, the dissolving reaction surged so quickly it looked like someone took an eraser and quite literally erased it out of existence. The chemicals were eating away at the Kraang creature as Y/N ran on pure adrenaline and instinct.
More gunk shot from the ceiling, striking them across the jaw and tearing the mask off. The straps mustâve been worn from the tussle. The stench flooding into Y/Nâs lungs was enough to drive them even further into an animalistic battle against the alien.
Raphâs hand reached out feebly, terrified at the situation, but immobilized. He felt useless. He .. JustâŚ
Defeated. No words. Empty.
Scared.
Y/N struck down the final piece of kraang, pinning it firmly to the ground beneath the toe of their boot. Their flashlight laid on the ground, slightly submerged in the sewer water. The light framed the pink alien dimly.
â You donât belong here. â
Harshly, their fist clamped the rubbed ball and splooshed out a hefty amount of the herbicide. It was overkill, but therapeutic.
Their chest heaved up and down as they tried to catch their breath. Everything was catching back up to them as the adrenaline simmered away.
â Ooough⌠â
Y/N grumbled, stumbling back. Their feet felt so heavy to lift. Their body felt too heavy to keep up. Everything felt ⌠heavy⌠so.. They dropped.
Expecting to collide with the gross ground, Y/N was already melting into the unexpected warm embrace that held them instead. What a nice rewardâtheir beloved, cradling them so sweetly after a fight like that?
His chest was raising with something Y/N struggled to get a read on. Was he nervous? Scared?
Maybe this kraang stuff had brought up memories he wished didnât exist.. Y/N felt bad, their heart twisting over him having to relive any of that..
â Raph is⌠Has⌠A lot of questions. â
â H-Haaah⌠Fair.. â
Y/Nâs hand lifted to cradle his face, their lips following to press against his⌠So much relief.. What would life be like without hâ
â Ackâ! â
Y/N yelped as Raph had pushed them away almost at light speed.
â Raph, what the heck? â
â A LOT OF QUESTIONS! â
They looked up to see him covering his mouth, foot bouncing nervously. He dropped his hands and took a step back to put space between them.
â Yeah? Ask, then? I donât understand why I had to get thrown though. â
â BECAUSE RAPH HAS A PARTNER! â
â Iâm aware?! â
Raph looked like all the blood ran out of his body.
â Oh my god, Leo was right, you are a stalker. â
â WHAT?! â
Y/N struggled to rise to their feet but got up anyways. They fell forwards a moment before catching themselves with a heavy stomp.
â YOU CANâT CALL YOUR PARTNER A STALKER?! â
â I DONâT KNOW YOU! â
â WHââ
Y/N stilled, then sighed. Their hands rose up to pull down the visor, revealing their face.
Raph had already assumed a stance similar to a running start before he immediately slacked and took Y/N into his arms in breakneck speed.
â GAHââ
â You shouldnât be anywhere near fights like this! â
He butterflied kisses all over their face while Y/N tiredly fought back, their small hands lightly pushing his cheeks as they tried to escape the tickling affection. They writhed in his hands without much effort added.
â IrkâRaph! Come on! Itâs not much different from you risking your life out hereâ! â
ââNo, butââ
ââLet me finish! You risk your life out here all the time, sometimes without your brothers.. â
Y/Nâs gaze lazily followed the sewer walls as Raph carried them back to the entrance. He hushed up, albeit reluctantly. It felt as though he was starting to drag his feet.
â Not even the clean-up crews across New York still stand, theyâre all too chicken to clean our own streets up..â
They pulled their hands to their chest, trying to drown out their heartâs thundering beat. This conversation was a long time coming, yet still frightening to have. What if he didnât listen?
Y/N turned to Raph, nuzzling their fatigued body closer into his chest. Their dearly beloved, fighting his nightmaresâalone? All because this city of cowards would rather their heroes risk their lives than fight in the streets they all live in?
That just wasnât fair.. Why did Raph have to risk himself for them?
â Donât I get a say? â
â You do, I justâ!â
â Then let me fight too. â
Raph smacked his teeth, his grip on Y/Nâs body lightly tightening. He seemed to be holding his breath for a few beats before finally sighing.
â But I donât want you to.. Doesnât Raph get a say, too? â
â Yeah, but Raphâs say feels more like an end-all-be-all. I couldnât be there for you when the Kraang attacked, canât I be here now? Youâre worried about me being out here, but Iâm just as worried.. â
Both stayed silent as he emerged from the end of the pipe. Y/N could tell that their words were starting up something in Raph, some sort of conflict between the safe and the fair. They wondered what he would settle onâkeeping them in a makeshift birdcage to keep Y/N perpetually safe or letting them free to join in the fray.
The community folks were equally as conflicted, though they were between worry for their requested hero being carried out by the cityâs hero and rejoicing over their having come out alive & assumedly victorious.
Y/N felt embarrassed the entire time of Raph refusing to let them down. He could be stubborn as a mule, even if it was out of the best intentions. As he explained the situation to the people around them, Y/N quietly kept their head buried in his chest as a way of maintaining their identity.
Maybe it was stubbornness that kept them out, risking their life as a vigilante. Maybe it was love, wanting to take up the mantle before it crushed Raph beneath its weight..
Maybe there was no reason..
Raph ducked his head in a polite bow to bid farewell then turned on his heel. With red magic whirling around his arm, it grew into a larger version of his arm that reached to the building rooftops and pulled the two along.
Y/N found the silence to grow⌠annoying. BothersomeâŚ
Worrisome.
â ⌠Are you mad that I want to fight? â
His magic fizzled for a moment, caught off guard.
â Whatâno, no, just.. â
He sighed as he landed upon a rooftop. Raph pulled Y/N into a tight hug. His voice was muffled as he pressed his face into their shoulder.

Part 1 -> Part 2
"How am I going to find you, sensei?"Â
"Wait a second, April and ____ would know, I just need to find them."
"They'll know."Â
Location : Eastlaird University
"You sure about this April?" You asked while April got up from her seat as the class bell rang to notify students that class was finally over. April waved out her hands, letting a pfft sound.
"Pfft, sure. I got this 100%. Now wait for me outside." April winked, signalling for you to go while you stood for a few seconds until you sighed, making your way out of the doors behind some students. While April approached the Science teacher who was sitting at his desk.
Meanwhile you waited outside and you could hear April yelling "Look at it!" until you heard her opening the door, causing you to jump in surprise as she grabbed your arm and dragged you with her. "Geez April! What happened there?" You asked.
"Oh you know, pretending to record the teacher writing an equation on the whiteboard for my daily news, buuut. I got his ID card. So let's go!" April rushed and opened the door, both of you walking downstairs to the science lab.Â
"This is April O'neil, investigative reporter for Eastlaird University daily news. For years, this college shot down some rumors that a foreign government secretly paying them millions, to develop super toxic herbicidal deforestation bomb. Those rumors will now end today because we're about to end and blow the lid off Big Chem." April spoke seriously into her phone which was recording.Â
"Omg..." You sighed, pinching your nose on to why you agreed on doing this with April.Â
Location : Outside Eastlaird UniversityÂ
"Ha! Evidence baby!" April jumped down as you and her ran away from the security guard.
"Shh, you'll never know if anyone is around here to see us." You hushed while you whispered to April who was now tumbling around with her phone until it fell out of her grasp and broke on the ground.
"Idiot.." You groaned, face palming in disappointment.
"Good thing, it's not the only thing I tooook." April smirked as she swung her bag to her front and opened it up to reveal the blue toxic substance with a grin. You blinked a couple of times until you spoke "Dang girl, how much did you take without me looking?"Â
"Eh, a few, a couple, who knows." April shrugged until she zipped up her bag and swung her bag back over her shoulder. "Alright, lets go before someone spots us." April suggested, walking side by side until you could hear footsteps behind you as a voice called out.Â
"April and _____-!"Â
"Catlike flexes!" April karate chopped the guy from behind, now the person laying unconscious on the ground while the grappling hook sprung out as it piled up. Â
"I think he's dead." You looked over, you could now see the full figure of the unknown boy. A mask with marks that looked like leo's, a symbol on his cape that looks like donnie's and he somewhat looks like a turtle with all that amour. You squinted your eyes a bit more, taking a little kick to his arm to see if he was still alive.Â
"What the- come look at this." April's voice commanded as you stood beside her, looking at her in confusion until you looked over to the photo she was staring at. It was a photo of you and April posing with the turtles. "How..?"Â
Location : The LairÂ
"And I spotted the photo that he had so we brought him here." April explained while you rested your arm against her shoulder while you, April, Donnie, splinter and Mikey looked at the photo of them.Â
"Sensei..?" The boy's voice called out scaring Leo who prepared in a weird way with his sword as he twitched while Raph glared at the boy.Â
You lifted yourself off as you crossed your arms, the projector now landing on the table as the light shined behind the boy who was now tied up in a chair.Â
"Who are you and why do you have a picture of us?" Raph poked the boys chest as he tried to seem scary which was hilarious, the big softie trying to act tough when though he gets into mama bear mode when one of his brother or you gets hurt.Â
"Yeah, who took this? Cause I look great." Leo cheesed as he flipped his blue bandanna tails like he was flipping hair, of course he wasn't acting serious in a time like this.Â
Mikey then scooted in "What's your favourite pizza because I'm ordering right now." Mikey grinned, his phone in hand as he typed up a number and placed it against the side of his head.Â
'Idiots..' You sighed until you turned to where Donnie was until you realized he wasn't there, turning back to see him getting hit by the grappling hook that started flying around the room making everyone scatter.Â
Donnie was now laying on the ground, hurt on the eye and face.Â
April and Raph getting ready to brawl with the guy that was now hanging upside down form the ceiling.Â
Mikey trying to wake up Donnie.
Meanwhile Leo was trying to sneak in a piece of popcorn which Splinter was munching on to only whack Leo's hand with his tail.
"Wait Wait! I'm a friend!" The boy screamed making everyone stop in their tracks. "Okay, let's start over. My name is Casey Jones and the reason I have this photo and your tech is because you gave it to me.. but not yet."
Casey was his name.Â
"Because I'm from.... the future." Casey explained, trying to make everything tense to only get laughs and giggles from everyone. You even let out a laugh yourself. Thinking this guy was high out of his mind.Â
"Sure kid, whatever you say." You laughed, waving at him.Â
"This isn't a joke." Casey said, frustrated until Donnie spoke about lottery tickets with his future self like he planned as he cut Casey down with his mechanical arms and picked the chair up to keep Casey up right again.Â
Now you were all listening to his story, living in caves and eating leave and rats.Â
At the mention of eating rats made you scrunch your face in disgust, then he continued.
"I know this sounds crazy but Master Leonardo gave me a mission." Casey then looked at Leo who then smirked and turned to Raph. "I do like when he calls me Master." Leo teased. Raph giving him a sigh and a groan back.Â
"You told me to find the key and stop the Krang."Â
April then let out a 'pfft' noise as she rested a hand on her hip. "Aliens.. suuure, this story keeps getting better." April joked until Splinter turned off the projector.
Splinter then went to tell a tale of the Krang, mentioning how powerful they are and being worshipped by the foot clan. The key was the main element that was keeping them in the Prison dimension.Â
"So..." Leo started. Everyone turning around to look Casey. "Future boy is..." April spoke, "Really from the future?" You finished the sentence.
Location : On rooftop of Foot Clan's Hideout
You can't believe you're doing this, here, right now you and the others made your way through Leo's portal until you were standing on a broken roof on an island in the middle of nowhere in the ocean.
You all kept your ground as the foot clan kept talking about the ceremony until Leo spoke up. "Boring." Leo yawned, then posed.Â
"Leo!" Raph huffed, furrowing at he glared at Leo who just shrugged. "What, I waited for a good time to jump in but he kept blabbity-blah-ing."Â
"There it is! The key!" Casey shouted, pointing to the key in the hands of Foot Lieutenant who was furious that you and the others crashed the ceremony. "Get them, don't let them interfere with the ceremony!"Â
Everything was going to shit, the doorway was open to reveal a brain looking creature, big, and creepy looking. Until two other Krang creatures come into view, the female looking one attacks everyone while the short one begins to do whatever he was doing to the doorway.Â
They were too strong, too powerful. Raph told everyone to retreat while Leo argued that no one ever retreats.
"Leo, just listen for once. They're too strong and dad's hurt! We need to fall back!" Raph yelled out, while holding an injuried Splinter in his strong arms. While you and April and others tried to fight the tempered one, swinging around your scythe weapon until you went flying back into a wall causing you to feel pain in your back. Letting out a choked gasp, your body limp on the ground, your weapon clinking onto the ground.Â
"Donnie, escape pods! Now!" Raph called out as Donnie was already on it, typing and swiping on his wrist as tiny devices came out of his battle shell, flying to every single person.
Donnie was the first one to escape, Mikey, April and splinter as Casey's pod was closing, he yelled out to Leo saying that he needs to get the key until he finally was enclosed by the pod and left, the Krang holding his pod as Casey finally escaped.Â
Now it was you, Leo and Raph behind.Â
Leo's pod closed in on him until he released himself, running towards the key. You could hear Raph's voice call out to him as Leo dodged the attacks. You began to stand up as you ran away, following behind Leo.Â
"No ___! Don't!" Raph screamed, trying to reach out to you but tumbled back down as the pod closed him in and left.Â
You made it up stairs to see Leo having the key in his hands as the Krang roared, the tall one jumping up in the air and ready to strike Leo. You weren't going to let that happened, rushing over as you got your weapon ready.
The sound of slashing was heard.. Leo eyes widened to realise you were now standing in front of him, your arm bleeding at the impact of the Krang tentacle. You hissed at the wound that was cut open.Â
You then turned over to your shoulder and looked down at Leo who was now in shock, you quickly moved and took out your pod you kept as you placed it against Leo's plastron, now the pod closing around Leo as he didn't have enough time to react as he was now leaving inside the pod. You could hear Leo banging against the door of the pod as he left.
At least he was going to be safe.Â
The last view Leo saw of you was you smiling until you were caught in the grip of one of the Krang.
Location : Unknown (Ship)
You were starting to wake up, feeling your whole body sore, trying to move as you realized you were stuck in their gooey stuff.Â
"Ah, finally. You're awake." A voice called out. You lifted your head at the voice to only see the three Krang you fought previously. Your eyes narrowed at the sight of them. "Where am I." You spoke in a stern voice.Â
"Look at it." The other creature crawled towards you, her grip tightening around your face as she got a good look at you. "Disgusting." She spat until you spat back "Have a look at yourself, then we know who the disgusting one is." You smirked in remarks. Â
The creature hissed, then gripped your cheeks tighter. "Ugh, It's talking to me." She grunted, moving to the other side. "I wanna rip out its tongue." She has grinned even wider now. Your eyes widen at the mention of that until the voice form earlier spoke again. "Forgive my sister, she's a bit hot tempered."
The two other Krangs jumped off and landed onto the ground to bow at their brother. You tried to struggle to only cause more pain inside your body. You moved around, your body being pulled down now onto the ground as you grunted.Â
"Well considering that we were stuck in a prison dimension, it clearly wasn't doing her any favours." The creature, then titled his long ass head. You could hear him clicking his tongue as he gave out a hiss. "You're a bit different from regular humans. I can sense it."Â
"I'm a human or are you too stupid to realise that I am." You spat out, clearly wanting to leave and go back to the others.Â
"Hm, a feisty one aren't you."Â The Krang hummed as he turned your head from side to side. "Now... tell me where the key is." He snapped, you huffed through your nose. "And why should I tell you? You're just gonna to ruin this world for everyone."
"Poor unfortunate soul, we are here to save this rotten planet." He explained until you inturrtped. "Doesn't seem like it." You muttered under your breath as he hummed angrily. "Now we could do this the easy way where you tell me where the key is, or the hard way."
"I ain't telling you jack shit!" You angrily said, trying to get out of the grip of the gooey stuff that held your body upright.Â
"Very well then, the hard way it is."Â
"Don't you dare-!" You screamed, the Krang held your head as you felt something travelling up through your hair to your scalp, some to your eyes as your body trembled.Â
"The underground sewers." The creature hummed as he pulled back, your body limp as he retracted his tentacle. "They always do it the hard way."Â One of the Krang grinned.Â
Location : Metro tower
"Donnie, Mikey, Raph. Can you read me?" Leo com through at his wrist as Donnie's voice in static replied back. "Leo, come in Leo."
"Donnie, where are you guys." Leo asked, extremely worried about his brothers. "We've extracted from the subway and are ascending to a staircase." Donnie replied as he looked at everyone's location while Mikey, Raph, April and Splinter ran beside and behind him as they went up the staircase.Â
"I'm getting a lot of interference, but if you hold still, I can triangulate your positions using a complex geo-location algorithm." Donnie spoke as he posted in different positions even taking a photo with him laying on the ground, making a kissy face while looking at the Krang bio-growth around him while the others greeted each other in hugs and smiles.Â
"Uh.. Donnie?" Casey called out but Leo stopped him as Donnie continued.Â
"Odd numbers, primes, no... almost. Almost!" Donnie sped up his typing on a holographic wrist screen until Splinter cleared his throat making Donnie groan. "Ugh! I never get to use my algorithm." While he turned around, everyone gave out a little laugh.
"Man, I am so glad you guys ain't dead." Leo made his way to hug Mikey and pull in Donnie while Raph hugged from behind. They were all finally back together as one.Â
"Alright guys, time to locate _____. Donnie, are they still in the building?" Raph questioned, looking down at Donnie who was already on to locating your location. "You bet your subatomic particles I can." Donnie smirked as he pressed on his wrist, appearing with everyone's location until yours started to blink and glitch.Â
"Got them! They are quite close.. almost like... they're on top of us..." Donnie slowed his speech in confusion. "Wait they are on top of us!"Â
Everyone lifted their heads up to reveal you hanging upside down in the Krang's bio-growth stuff.Â
"Casey, use your chainsaw to get them down, Quick!" Raph ordered as Casey rushed over, slashing at every slimey bit until you fell getting caught by Raph who worriedly looked over you, making sure nothing bad happened to you. "_____?" Mikey's voice called out, soft and weak. Everyone sweated until you let out a groan.
In an instant, Raph was sent flying, everyone froze on the spot. You slowly started to get up from the ground, your breathing unsteady and groggy. Mikey furrowed his face, calling out your name. "______?" His voice trembled. Your head fell low, your body moving on it's self as you finally stood up.
Your face not showing just yet.
Something wasn't right.
Your body looked different, unreal, more pale than usual.
Then suddenly you screamed, more like a roar as you body transformed. Some of your body part morphed into Krang parts, your eyes dark pink and not like your usual eye colour.
No. Leo thought..Â
"They turned into one of them!" Leo called out to Mikey and Donnie who were close to you as they got ready if you were to attack. Your face finally lifted, your eyes targeted in April instead as she got the Key. The Key that the Krang needed.Â
Your body flashed, now appearing next to April as you wacked her away, the key falling out of her bag as she tumbled. Donnie quickly making his way to her to check if she was okay until he looked up to you. Suddenly the Krang appeared behind you. "Surprise."Â
"What did you do to them!" Mikey yelled, pricks of tears filling the corners of his eyes.
"I improved them. I made them more... useful." The leader Krang grinned. Leo growled at that, getting his sword ready until the floor crumbled beneath his feet as he moved, a Krang train crawled up from the ground with the Female Krang with it.Â
Things were starting to get far more worse, Krang army start to pile up from the ground, Krang like dogs growling, people who were turned into Krang and the foot clan who were also turned into Krang monsters came running.Â
Everyone got ready with their weapons while they were surrounded by Krang monsters. Leo then looked over to you as you bowed on one knee as you lifted the key up to the Krang leader in your hands. "Ah, good. Thank you for this. We will be putting it to good use."Â
Then the Krang leader spoke to the female Krang who was holding onto the Krang train. "Come, the world awaits destruction!" The female Krang smiled and jumped off onto the ground. "Tear them apart!"Â
The Train screeched its horn, the Krang monsters roaring as they moved.Â
April quickly moved to her bag and grabbed her bat, swinging her bat that had that nasty toxic substance inside as she shouts as she swung her bat. The stuff hitting the train. April then turned to everyone. "We gotta move."Â
Donnie picked up Mikey who was hiding in his shell while April ran, Leo standing froze until Raph had to grab him with Casey following behind. You are now gone.Â
Everyone stood until Splinter moved quickly and dropped a smoke bomb as smoke appeared then faded away. Revealing no one in sight.
One of my friends was talking about how Leo got super tongue tied during his first meeting with Jupiter Jim, and that they think he would also be that way towards someone he has a crush on.
And now I canât unsee it.
So like-
Could I request Leo fumbling.
Leo actually kind of trying to open up but it doesnât land or he keeps backing out.
Leo being a stupid dumb idiot over the reader.
Leo with no riz.
You get the idea.
But reader thinks heâs cute so it ends up okay lol.
âWhat do you see in that guy?â
âHe makes me laughâ kind of dynamic lol
Maybe they donât end up together maybe they do thatâs up to you. I just think Leo failing the speech checks would be a funny story prompt.
Leoâs Off Day â A Rise!Leo x Reader Oneshot
A/N: Failing speech checks you say? Heheheh⌠it came to me in a VISION I INSTANTLY knew what I was going to write HEHAHAHA anyway! Iâm sorry it took so long, I hope this was what you were looking for and I hope you enjoy!!!
Disclaimer!: I wanted this to be a good few years after the events of the movie, therefore you can imagine Leo and Reader to be anywhere from 19-22 (college/ish for reader) as well as yokai to be more accepted around New York City at this time!
-
Flirting was easy, for Leonardo.
Too easy, sometimes.
It made him understand, a little, why magicians never revealed their secrets. His ability to weave a conversation was always something he held close to his chest, on account of his position as a face-man. It was his position! He wanted to keep his job security.
No matter rain, sleet or snow, he could concoct anything to get him or his brothers out of trouble, or into it, if he wanted. It was the same with pulling anyone he wanted under his arm.
Sure, after the allure of smooth talking wore off, often the muse of his affections flew to greener pastures, but at that point he usually bounced back. He knew his partnerâs feelings for him were shallow, heâd grown to expect it.
There were occasions a line fell flat, but he had only gotten better at this craft over the years.
Thatâs what it was, a craft, not an⌠âequationâ as Donnie liked to put it.
This time, for example.
His target was in sight, leaning against the bar of what had come to be his favorite coffee shop, staring at the menu. This person was new, unlike the warm, familiar decor that surrounded themâ smiling paintings, plants, and ceramics all held against clean, ivory walls that provided a safe getaway from the dingy nature of the New York City.
He finished what was left of his coffee, and leaned back in his fitted chair to simply observe before he made his approach.
His target, although unfamiliar, was just akin to the coffee shop itself: Warm, unlike their drink of choiceâ but another connection was that distinct comforting aura. The way their eyes scanned the room, full of bright curiosity, he could only hope they held some of that sentiment for him, as well. They were just his type.
Once they finished their order, it was time for his grand entrance.
âIâve got it.â He swooped in with a handful of cash once he saw them lift their card, a disruption to the smooth transaction. The barista raised a brow, but didnât question itâ theyâd seen him pull this move before.
Leoâs attention was fully on his target, who locked eyes with him then. In an instant, all the curiosity from their surroundings was centered solely on him, and it made a weird flip happen in his chest. âOhâ thank you! Are you sure?â They smiled, with that slight edge of nervousness that heâd come to expect. âYou didnât have to do that.â The way their eyes sparkled was marvelous, he wanted their attention for as long as he could get it.
âHm? Oh, that? It was nothing!â He shrugged it off in hopes to alleviate some of that obligation he knew some guys tried to hinge on. It wasnât his style. âI just couldnât stand to see someone as stunning as you walk by without taking a chance on fate.â He gave a signature smirk, and they threw out a reserved smile in return.
âWell, thank you, again.â a hand played with their hair as they looked up at him.
Perfect, everything pointed towards a go-ahead to advance.
âI wonât twist your arm, but hey, if youâve got the time..â he drawled, trying to hold onto the anticipation, âIâd love to hear your nAmeââ ⌠and it nearly worked.
âŚ
Shit..
he couldnât explain it, but clearly fate or whatever had something against him, and just then, his voice decided to crack.
His eyes darted away, damn, that ruined his cool facade, but it would be fine as long as he didnât comment on it. âOugh, wowââ his tongue suddenly seemed to answer for him, and he internally cursed at the word vomit that came after.
A flush crept up his neck, âThat was..â he cleared his throat, âembarrassingââ he laughed, but it was flat and nervous, something he wasnât used to hearing from himself. âMy uhâ question still⌠stands..?â Goddamn it, he just had to open his big fat mouth, huh?
He finally looked up at them, relieved that they werenât grossed out, but the laugh they let out nearly made his knees give in. âIâmâ Iâm sorry, Did you practice this in the mirror?â The slight look of pity made him want the floor to swallow him up.
âWhat? No!!â Oof, a little too quick with that answer. He looked up at them and gave a crooked, desperate smile, âHaha, sorry, no, noââ he ignored the way his palms began to feel sweaty under his gloves. âI assure you my one liners are completely un-scrIPTed.â
There it was again! What was in that goddamn coffee!? It wasnât as if his silver tongue had grown rusty, right!? Oh lord, that just incriminated him even furtherâŚ
The stunning creature in front of him laughed yet again, at him, and grabbed their order from the receiving end of the bar. âIâm sure, Iâm sureâŚâ they didnât believe him, not even for a second.
Well, there goes his smooth talker persona.
And yet, he didnât want to give up.
âUhhâ haha! Forget about the linersââ he coughed, and scrambled to lean on the closer counterâs edge, more for support than actually trying to be suave. âcan I maybe get that name?â
They raised their brow with a familiar smirk, he knew it, it was the same smirk he usually gave to others, âSure.â Their reserved demeanor from earlier was gone now, replaced with a dizzying confidence.
âY/n.â
They took a sip of their coffee, âdonât you go forgetting it, Sir Cracks-A-Lot.â They gave a finger gun, and left him leaning on that counter, where he continued to feel like he was losing his mind.
Was that a liner? A joke, even? It was painfully cliche and unoriginal, and he wondered for a moment if maybe he was falling in love. They joke!
He nearly tripped over himself, âSure wonât!â He waved, âIâll uhâ rehearse it in the mirror!â
The bell rang as the door to the coffee shop closed, and He instantly put his face in his hands.
ââŚOh my god.â He groaned under his breath. âRehearse it? Right, I basically just told them âyeah! Iâm an idiot!ââ He ignored the eyes of everyone in the shop, (that being about three peopleâ which almost made it worse) and fell into one of the small one-person sofas beside a window. ââŚThat was such a bust.â
He sprawled out across the impossibly small chair, and stared at the deathly pale, sickly walls that held paintings of mocking, pointing characters. Mocking him. Even the sight of the imposing ceiling made him feel trapped in a replay of the moment over and over. He sighed, and rested his head back against the armrest.
He hadnât fumbled this hard since he was 16 or something..
Damn. They were funny, tooâŚ

âY/n? What is it?â April sounded from the other end of your phone, a little drowsy from her late night studying. You knew it was early, but the excitement just couldnât wait!
âApril!!â You skipped along the road to class, a kiddish grin split on your face, âsorry to wake youâ I just met the cutest guy while ordering coffee!!â
âI gotta tell someone about it!!â

A/n: I FINALLY DID IT YAYYYY HEHEHEH I had so much fun with this LMAOO I hope it reads right given that I wrote this at night đđ I DID PROOFREAD THOUGH so lmk what you think :DDDD
ăËăËĚŁĚŁ áľĚŁĚŁĚŁĚŁĚŁĚŁ â á°ˇ âŻâŻÍÍ you and donnie are dating, how would the relationship be like? and of course thereâs shelldon too, how would he be towards you?
dating donnie means dating someone whose brain never really slows down: heâll be talking about one invention while already mentally building the next one.
physical affection isnât always his first instinct, but once he realizes you enjoy it, he starts unconsciously leaning against you whenever heâs focused on something.
he absolutely infodumps; youâll ask one innocent question and twenty minutes later heâs explaining quantum mechanics with a whiteboard full of equations.
he loves when you genuinely listen instead of pretending to understand (if you stop him and ask questions, heâll get even more excited)
heâll call you into the lab every five minutes.
âbabe, look at this.â
ââŚwhat am i looking at?â
âexactly.â
his sleep schedule is terrible; there are nights where you practically have to drag him away from his workbench because heâs been awake for almost twenty-four hours.
if you fall asleep waiting for him, heâll quietly carry you to bed before returning to the lab⌠only to come back an hour later because he missed you.
donnie acts confidentâsometimes almost arrogantâbut he secretly worries about being too much, too loud, too weird or too obsessed with science.
heâll occasionally ask, in a completely casual tone âyouâd tell me if i was annoying, right?â
he pretends not to care about compliments, but they stick with him for days.
he gets flustered if you compliment his intelligence instead of his appearance.
heâll absolutely make gadgets just to make your life easier (a self-heating mug, a phone charger that never tangles or tiny drones that help you find your keys, for example)
gifts are usually practical⌠but somehow incredibly thoughtful.
if youâre sick, heâll become insufferably overprotective.
heâll scan your temperature every fifteen minutes.
âyour heart rate increased by three.â
âi stood up.â
ââŚconcerning.â
arguing with donnie is⌠an experience.
heâll try to debate using charts and statistics.
you eventually have to remind him that relationships arenât scientific experiments.
once he realizes he hurt your feelings, though, the smugness disappears immediately.
apologies donât come easily, but when they do, theyâre genuine.
he works hard to fix problems instead of pretending they never happened.
he loves when you sit in the lab while heâs working.
you donât even have to talk.
your presence alone helps him focus.
if someone insults your intelligence, heâs already halfway through dismantling their argument before you can respond: âfactually speaking, everything you just said was incorrect.â
he isnât jealous very often, but if someone clearly flirts with you⌠ââŚinteresting.â thatâs all he says, and somehow the person ends up walking away after a five-minute conversation feeling intellectually defeated.
he absolutely shows off in front of you, although not on purpose. he just suddenly starts doing unnecessarily complicated calculations in his head because he knows youâre watching.
you never win against his sarcasm, you donât even try.
shelldon adores you almost immediately.
the first time you visit the lair, shelldon quietly flies over, looks at you for a few seconds, and decides youâre safe.
after that, heâs constantly following you around.
somehow youâre the only person besides donnie who can convince him to stop doing something dangerous.
donnie pretends he isnât relieved.
you start reminding shelldon to recharge, checking if heâs damaged after missions, and cleaning little scratches off his shell.
one day donnie walks into the lab and finds you polishing shelldonâs shell while quietly talking to him.
shelldon is happily chirping the entire time.
donnie just⌠freezes.
ââŚyouâre babying my robot.â
âhe likes it.â
shelldon immediately scoots closer to you and nudges your hand for more attention.
from then on, it becomes normal.
shelldon climbs into your lap while donnie works.
if you leave the lair, shelldon follows you to the exit before stopping, almost like heâs waiting for you to come back.
you end up carrying tiny repair supplies specifically for him.
donnie catches you worrying over a small dent on shelldonâs shell more than once.
ââŚitâs superficial.â
âhe still got hurt.â
ââŚthatâs⌠actually sweet.â
watching you care for shelldon so naturally does something to donnie.
it isnât just that youâre taking care of his creation; youâre treating shelldon like family and to donnie, shelldon is family.
every now and then, youâll find both of them asleep in the lab; shelldon curled against his side while donnieâs slumped over his desk. you quietly throw a blanket over both of them and shelldon makes a happy little electronic chirp while donnie smiles in his sleep without even realising it.

As you usually do on Fridays, you drop by the turtle lair. And you never arrive empty-handed, so the brothers and Splinter greet you as you give out treats for everyone. But one turtle is missing.
You head to the lab where, as expected, you find Donnie working away on his newest project. Since he has his goggles on, you greet him as you approach the table so as not to startle him when he has a rather strange looking tool in his hand. You grab one of the chairs before you walk up to him, intending to just join him and watch him while he works. But to your surprise, once youâre standing next to him, he tilts his head without looking up from his work, offering you his cheek.
The sight makes you giggle, but more than anything, it warms your heart, knowing that he's grown so accustomed to your kisses that he's now expecting them.
So you lean down and press a lingering kiss to his cheek. You decide not to comment on the slight blush emerging on his face.
When you finally sit down, you prop up your elbow to hold your head. âWhat are you working on?â
As someone who has to sit a distance away from explosions to feel comfortable⌠Iâm not projecting, at all.đ I do enjoy fireworks! But, they can be a lot and I live in an area where the holiday is nearly three weeks of random explosionsâŚđ
Summary: Reader foolishly thinks that moving to the âbig cityâ and starting a friendship with some rather loud individuals, had fixed a rather fundamental fear of theirs. Spoiler warning.

It had been nice.
Youâd taken notice of the waning reactions you had been having towards sudden and rather explosive noises over the past few months.
Naturally with your move to New York you can easily attribute the change to the fact that not only do you currently live in one of the loudest cities in the world. One famous for never sleeping, but you had swiftly come to be friends with a rather rambunctious group of individuals.Â
Despite having been a part of their group for a short time, it hadnât taken long for the eyes of the eldest Hamato brother to land on you. The snapping turtle is deceptively gentle given his size, with a spiked tail to match, his sweet demeanour evident in how he cared for the family.
Even before you found out about his teddy bear collection.
You returned his gaze, and affections when theyâd boiled to the surface.
Summer rolled over the island like a crack of lightning and before long the dawn of July hung heavy in the sky. Â
The city plans on filling the sky with fireworks, your terrapin partner invites you to see them in his favourite spot.Â
You canât say no.Â
You donât say no.
Maybe you shouldâve shared however.
But as you sit there, snuggled into the terrapinâs side the anticipation builds.
Youâd never been up this high when fireworks had gone off.Â
So despite the distance from where the two of you sit to the actual epicenter of the explosion.Â
The force from the blast seems to ring in your chest, making your heart contract as the familiar claw of bile creeps up your neck.Â
Each explosion rattles your chest.
Youâd been foolish.
Tears well up into your eyes as you go still, panic seizing your body, leaving you unable to even articulate your need for silence.
Thankfully Raph is able to tell youâd clammed up, turning his attention to you only to find the visage of panic surely on your face.
The snapper scoops you up, descending down the building rapidly before wrenching a manhole cover open so the two of you can slip in. Placing it back once youâre both secure inside, further insulating you both from the eruptions of sound continuing above ground.Â
He pulls you close.Â
Shushing you and offering calm words as you cuddle into the hard planes of his chest.Â
You can feel the thumping of Raphâs heart through his plastron.Â
Its strong and steady beat lulls your own anxious fluttering, loosening your tongue.Â
You try to apologize for making him miss the show, but the snapper is quick to shut it down, offering a rather simple solution. Pulling out his phone it only takes a few moments for him to bring the live stream of the fireworks down so the two of you can still enjoy them together.
Keeping his phone on silent as the soft bursts of noise drift down to the perfect moment heâd made for you both.
Youâd been thankful that your phonophobia had become more manageable since moving to New York.
Yeah sure, that case could rather easily be made that it was due to you throwing yourself into the deep end of exposure therapy; living in a city that never stops makes it unsurprisingly loud.Â
That being said, you had a sneaking suspicion that the team of mutant ninja turtles youâd met shortly after moving had a few things to do with it as well.Â
A team that had saved the city, hell, the planet.
More than once.
Like it was a rather normal Tuesday to them.
Given Leoâs propensity towards pranks, some of which included some sounds on the relatively loud-end of what youâd stressed tested yourself to.Â
It didnât matter.
His confession had been swift.
Presented to you over a reading of his favorite comics, ones you hold dear to your own heart.
Shockingly enough he became quieter after the two of you began seeing each other, or maybe as the summer began and yawned across New York, zapping the energy out of many.
That is, until today.
Youâd completely forgotten about the holiday until Leo had invited you out to see them later that night from a spot proclaimed to be perfect by the terrapin.
Heâd described it as ânot the closest but still the bestâ.
You trust him.
You canât say no.
You donât say no.
Enthusiastically agreeing to the event, neglecting to even mention your fear.
It had been so long since your last attack that you hoped with your very being that your phobia was finally a thing of the past.Â
But youâre wrong.
You arenât okay, in fact you were finding yourself rather far from it.
White knuckling your shorts, each time the air filled with light and sound as one of the spasms rips the air from your body as you feel a tear roll down your face, the fear locking your vocal cords.
Thankfully, Leo takes notice.
Pulling your petrified expression from the colours exploding in the sky to his worried face, you try to focus but the onslaught of noise doesnât stop as the panic grips you.
Something clicks in his expression, soon the slider slices a portal beside you both, scooping your stiff form into his arms as you both escape the oppressive noise of the fireworks.Â
You listen to his words of encouragement and the terrapinâs rapid apologies, offering to make it up to you however he could.Â
The other side of the portal opens to a field outside of the city entirely, allowing you both to look down on New York where the heart stopping explosions are now merely faint pops.Â
With the noise now more tolerable you cuddle into Leoâs hard chest as he massages your back, easing the tension away from your form as the brilliant hues continue to fill the air.Â
Maybe this is the perfect spot for the two of you for now.
Together.
Youâd been grateful that your continued experiment towards curing the affliction that had been plaguing you for years had been going rather well.
Certainly the move to one of the most âhustle and bustleâ areas on the planet had greatly assisted in the endeavour to shed your phonophobia like dead skin.Â
A process that has been exponentially hastened in your eyes thanks to the Hamato family. Meeting them so soon after moving here has given you a chance to really get to know the city.
The adjustment had been so swift that you unconsciously began to slack in your exposure therapy.
Finding peace in Donnieâs sanctuary of a lab.
Your concertized and noticeable adjustment in your behaviour easily displayed itself when Donnie would get into projects that caused a ruckus in the otherwise quiet space.Â
Youâd typically stay regardless in order to assist the resident genius, it wasnât a surprise to anyone that the two of you began dating. The late night engineering sessions often left the two of you greeting the dawn bleary eyed and thankful for an open bed thanks to his cot.
The soft-shell always locked his lab down tighter than ever when you would stay over; soon the terrapin included a second cot.
A surprising revelation had come about early in July.
You hadnât thought of the upcoming display of patriotism that is the American need to blow things up. It wasnât something you typically made time for, you were a little surprised Donnie liked them given how youâd picked up on his aversion towards loud noises he couldnât control.
You donât say no.
You donât even entertain a no.
Youâd already dubbed yourself cured after all.
You were confident in your ability to handle loud noises.
Or you thought you were.
The soft-shell brings the two of you to a building not too far from the topside garage.
It isnât overtly close but you donât mind, thinking you can handle anything the display has to throw at you.Â
Unfortunately it isnât enough.Â
You remind yourself that the noises have a set amount of time they can go off.
It wonât be long.
But-
It doesnât help.Â
The explosions of the fireworks hit your chest with each flash of light and sound, making your hands shake as the panic grips you.
Donnie takes notice, the soft-shellâs hand reaches for a spot on his battle shell before he winces, making a face that echoes the sentiment of âwhy have I done thisâ?
Without a beat of hesitation the soft-shell manifests large purple headphones, slipping them over your ears blocking nearly all of the sounds around the two of you.Â
Keeping the hum of Donnieâs jetpack from reaching your auditory cortex while the fireworks become a faint thump in the background, fading fast as the terrapin flies you both away from where youâd been sitting.
You tap the soft-shell on his arm getting him to stop so you could sign that heâd taken you both far enough away.
The explosives no longer causing your soul to shake free from your flesh.Â
Donnie keeps you close.
Holding your as the two of you watch the lights from the air.
A buzz reaching you from his jet pack as the terrapin cradles you close to him.
Like youâd want to be anywhere else.
You had never handled loud noises well
So it shocked your family when you moved to New York City.
It surprised them even more when you had told them that you were actually doing well in a loud city that never sleeps. The constant noise had seeped into your system allowing you to feel as though youâd really begun to conquer the fear that used to grip you so tightly.Â
It had been something youâd struggled with for years, nearly your entire life.Â
But recently, thanks to your change in environment, and a few recent additions to your friends group.
It had abated quite a bit.Â
The Hamatoâs were fascinating.
A group formed around a kind of chaos you had yet to truly find in the world until now, a group that has come to bring peace into your life more than anything.Â
Especially Mikey.
The terrapin had rushed into your life like a breath of fresh air into your life that, despite only knowing you for a relatively short amount of time, had grown to harbour feelings for you.Â
Soon summer stretched into July and before you knew it.
The fourth had arrived.
It hadnât been something youâd sought out in the past for obvious reasons, but with Mikey asking you to attend the festivities with him from a bit of a distance.
Somewhere romantic.
You jumped at the opportunity.Â
You couldnât say no.
You dare not to.
When you arrive, itâs no surprise that the box turtle has put together a small sitting area for the two of you to enjoy the lights.Â
Itâs a lovely and romantic gesture, one youâre eager to take.
Everything is perfect, your heart swells until, the first explosion stretches acrossÂ
Your heart squeezes, painfully, each burst rocking your frame with panic as you attempt to push down the fear you had hoped had been buried in your soul.
Mikeyâs speaking to you but it isnât registering, the terrapinâs voice falling on deafen-ed ears as cortisol rushes through, flooding your system.
Thankfully, Mikeyâs quickly able to recognize your lock-up, manifesting a portal before lifting you to his plastron, the hard planes of his chest bringing you back to firm reality.
Exiting the tear in space that the box turtle had opened up you soon notice that the two of you had ended up in the Lairâs kitchen.
In the peace, and quiet of a place that you had found to be an underground sanctuary since you;d first been brought here.Â
The terrapin takes to making the two of your drinks before you can even articulate the full breadth of how awful you feel.
You ruined his night under the cityâs skyline watching the lights in the sky.Â
Or at least you thought so, Mikey gives you a kiss to the side of your head in order to put you at ease, leaving you to melt into his arms.
He pops back over leaving his communicator out on the table in order to have the live stream of the fireworks, now nigh silent, on display for them both to enjoy.
The terrapin pulls you close as you sit there, memorizing the feeling of his hands rubbing gentle circles into your back.
Everything is perfect at this moment.Â
Youâre at peace.

A/N: Damn itâs been a while. Iâve been taking summer classes and got an internship, so my creative writing time is thinner.
.....
The next morning, you woke up with a fever. Apparently, your human immune system couldnât handle the exposure to the cool rain. What bullshit.
You still tried to get out of bed, and your parents had to drag you away from your horse, who whinnied at your miserable state. Your father helped you write a letter to the Viscount while your mother left for a village doctor.Â
Your mind felt foggy, and you fumbled with the quill. You didnât know what you were doing, but you had to do something. A wet washcloth was placed on your head, and you found yourself slinking back to bed.Â
Physician Noe declared that youâd be fine, but you had to take it easy for a day or two.Â
The message was sent to the Viscount, and when your mother went to the village for soup ingredients, you convinced her to nail a note to the fencepost explaining your situation to Lee. It might be taken down, but surely someone could spread the message for you.Â
The day went by in phases, where youâd drift off for a few hours, get up to drink or stitch your outfit for the festival, and then drift off again. It was an agonizing process between the fever and the fatigue.Â
Later that night, you heard a knock at your cottage door. Youâd told Lee where you lived, and your mind immediately went to him. When you answered the door, you were surprised but slightly disappointed to find April with a care basket of goods from her friendâs bakery, and a hand-scrawled get well soon card from Lee and his brother whom you hadnât met yet.
Your parents were equally disappointed that they couldnât meet your cloaked friend, but April easily won them over. It felt odd to have an unproductive day, but you found small ways to keep yourself occupied.Â
The next day, you still werenât quite better. April had to go to work, but brought Mayhem over to keep you company. Your parents spoiled him. He ate a chunk of your care package food, but you didnât mind. It was a small fare for him to help deliver messages to Lee. You also exchanged a few letters with his brother Mike, who worked as a palace cook. Despite your head burning and mind turning to goop, your body was thankful for the brief vacation from work, even if you would be in for it when you went back.Â
Leo felt bored without being able to spend time with you at night, but it felt nice to talk to Raph about it. Outside of his princely duties, he spent his spare time writing letters to you during the day and playing capture the bandana with his brothers at night, just like old times. He hadnât seen Raph laugh and be so carefree in a while. It reminded him of how selfish and blindsided heâd been. It was a melancholic twist of pain in the past, joy of the present, and because of you, hope for his future.Â
On the second night of your illness, Leo went back to that hill you showed him. It was quite far from your cottage, but hopefully youâd still be able to see the show.Â
Careful not to disrupt any of the flowers, he set off a few of Donnieâs fireworks, just to give a small preview for the festival and his own sharing of hope towards whatâs to come.Â
Nine days left.Â
With your fever clearing up after two days, you decided to stay at home for another. After all, Viscount Bruce couldnât argue with an illness, and his daughter would freak out at the possibility of getting sick before the festival.Â
Plus, you had been kept up all night by some idiot setting off land mines, so you were fairly exhausted. In your many hours of boredom, and inability to leave your house, you eventually found yourself sorting through your fatherâs old things. He had already given you his dagger, but just in case he had a spareâŚ
In the end, you found something even better.Â
Leo found you already waiting at the fencepost when he arrived. Before he could make a joke about it, you gestured for him to follow you. A little sketchy, but okay..?
You brought him down an alley, not far from where youâd apprehended the bandit, and out of sight from any wandering villagers. He opened to mouth to ask about it, but you dipped a hand in your pockets.
âCheck this out.â You grinned.Â
âEn garde!â
Hidden within your belt, you drew out a chipped and heavily worn agincourt sword. Your stance was completely wrong, and your hands were placed like you were holding an upside-down broom, pointing the tip at him. It was terrible, but your playful grin gave him a run for his money.Â
Leo laughed, nudging the clearly dull blade away from him.Â
âWhereâd you find this beast? Was it on sale? You didnât go to the Night Market without me, did you?â
âI think it was my dadâs from the war. Cool, right? This old thing probably saved his life.â
And heâs the reason your dad had been in danger. Leoâs mind unhelpfully commented. He shook his head to scare away the thought. You chuckled at the gesture.Â
âScared I might stab you?â
âStab me? With a long blade like that? No, mi vida, thatâs a sword for slashing.â He moved his finger as he spoke, gesturing from the bladeâs tip down its side, âThis your first time handling a sword of that size?â
âEasy there, tiger.â
He couldnât hold back a grin, âIâm serious, though. Did you swing it?â
âNot yet, but I brought us here. You ready?â You held it above your head.Â
Leo jumped to the side for dear life.Â
You werenât close to hitting him, but nearly stabbed your own leg. He swiftly grabbed your wrists before you could try it again.
âNo no no. You do it side to side. Like youâre⌠cleaning a window.â Leo tried to explain. He never cleaned a window before.Â
âLike this?â
You waited until he was out of reach, and swung the sword to the side with your dominant hand. You immediately lost your balance, and nearly tumbled down. Lee jolted forward, as if preparing to catch you.
âOkay okay. Hereâs how itâs done. Watch and learn.â
Gripping the sword in both hands, he positioned the weapon over his shoulder, as if preparing to thrust a long spear. Instead, he swung the blade side to side, keeping his hands firm on the handle as his wrists twisted and turned to deliver each blow.Â
He nearly beheaded some villagerâs poor scarecrow before directing his wrath towards a wooden lanternpost. With every bounce of the blade after striking the wood, Lee utilized every recoil, moving the blade and striking upwards, downwards, and side to side in a hypnotic kind of dance.Â
You watched the scene in awe. If the sword wasnât so dull and old, you were sure the wood wouldnât even be standing.Â
Leo gave the lanternpost a break, and inspected the sword once again.Â
âMan, this thingâs a dud.â He sighed, eyeing a couple nicks that formed on the blade.
Snapping out of your shock, you asked,Â
âCanât you like⌠turn it into a better one?â
Leo turned to you in confusion, before realizing what you were referring to.
âHuh⌠I donât think Iâve ever tried that.â
âCould you make it into, like, a super sword?â You made a growing motion with your hands.
âA sword sword?â
âSword sword.â You agreed. He considered it.Â
âNo harm in trying, right? Your pops wonât mind?â
You nodded, âYeah, he wonât.â
Making sure that no one was around, Leo cupped his hands over the swordâs handle and concentrated. When he had been new to his ninpo abilities, heâd just squeeze his eyes shut and hoped for the best, but in his years of experience, heâd learn to let it happen. The energy swelled and swayed, before consuming the blade like a shadow. You let out a small gasp of awe and he already prepared a line about his mystic mojo.Â
In a fraction of a second, the blade reformed.Â
The grip tightened and the guard curled. The chipped edges became razor sharp, like an intentionally jagged edge design. It still held Leoâs mystic shine to it. The tiny nicks around the blade reshaped to form what appeared to be old mystic runes.Â
Letting out a breath, Lee held the sword to the wall, and scraped the stone.Â
Shing!
A white scratch was etched into the gray rock.Â
âNow this is a sword.â
In a single swing, the wooden fence was split in two. He gave a smug look, obviously pleased with himself.
âOoh! Gimme!â
He narrowly avoided your quick grabby hands.
âAh ah ah! This isnât a toy. You gotta be real careful not to cut yourself here.â
âIâve got it, Lee.â
âYou sure? I mean,â He flipped the sword upside down, ââŚjust making sure you can handle it.â
Leo nudged the swordâs handled end toward you. You didnât react to the joke, just reached out and grabbed the weapon.
ââŚCause thatâs the handle of the sword.â
He watched it dawn on you in real time.
âOh, I thought that was called the stick.â
âWhy would any part of a sword be called a stick?â He snorted.
âI donât know! Why would any part of the sword be called a guard?â You retorted.
âBecause that part guards your hands from touching the blade!â Leo was openly laughing now.
âOh shut up.â You lightly jabbed it towards him. He sidestepped and took your wrist, guiding you to lower the sword.
âSpeaking of, you should probably stick with something wooden for now.â Lee winked, âDonât want you to hurt yourself.â
âI wood if my friend wasnât being such an ass about it!â You punched him in the shoulder, unable to hide your own smile.
He grinned at your own joke, and plucked the sword out of yourself grasp.
âIâll grab you a wooden sword tomorrow. Just donât swing the real one around too much.â
âAnd what if I have to deal with a bandit again?â
âThen Iâll keep you safe.â He tried to puff out his chest, despite the shell.
âAww, my champion.â You cooed, preparing to literally swoon over him. He caught you before you could fall, holding you by the waist with one arm and holding the sword in his other hand.
You looked up at him from his plastron, seeing his playful smile falter. Was he shaking? You swore you felt something trilling in his chest.
Lee brought you back to your feet, briefly turning away with a bashful look. You didnât call him out on it, instead pulling him closer all over again.
His body stiffened, and just as his guard was downâŚ
You snatched the sword right out of his hand again. You giggled as he let out a yelp, trying to steal it back. You ran back out of the alleyway, clutching the weapon to your side, careful not to hurt yourself.
His quick and silent footsteps followed closely, and you could only tell they were there from the slight vibrations in the stone street.
The fencepost was just in site as you were lifted by your underarms, squealing as your feet left the ground. The sword dropped with a clatter and you kicked at the cackling turtle behind you.
You elbowed him on the way down, and snatched the sword when he offered it back to you.
âMake sure you take care of your sword sword.â He chuckled.
âOne problem though.â You held it up.
âYeah?â
You made a show of sliding the sword into its former sheath, which didnât fit quite right anymore. The blade easily cut through the leather like butter.Â
âEugh⌠Iâll have Do- Dee make a new one. Want me to teleport the sword to your place?â
âCould you?â You asked, not wanting to accidentally cut yourself or your horse on the ride home.Â
âOf course.â Lee gave you a faithful salute.Â
Eight days left.Â
âŚ
Your argument with April felt like a distant memory, as the girl was quickly becoming the highlight of your day. You could see why Lee had her as an honorary sister, she was great. Even Lady Barbara had to nitpick her work to find an excuse to yell at her.Â
Work was still far from fun, but April made it feel⌠tolerable.Â
You didnât even have to sneak off to talk to her, as the Viscount began closing off a few of the annex buildings around the manor. A few servants were muttering about their housing accommodations being changed, rumors circulating that some were even moved to the old cellars. Youâve never been more thankful to live with your parents.Â
âWhat do you think heâs using the annexes for anyway?â April asked you one morning.Â
You waved it off, âProbably just storing our Ladyâs dresses. Or hiding some super dress that she doesnât want anyone to see.âÂ
âNever thought sheâd refuse a chance to show off,â April muttered under her breath. You gave the smallest nod, not daring to get taught tarnishing a noble name.Â
âSo, uh. The festival is a week away. Have you given any thought about.. What I said about the prince?â
You thought back to your fight. Screaming at each other in the middle of the cafeteria. The exact words exchanged were hazy, but there was one line that stuck out.
âLee and the Prince⌠arenât as different as you thinkâŚâ
Besides both being yokai, you really couldnât think of anything they had in common. One was a sweet and witty friend, and the other was a prideful and egotistical tyrant.Â
âNot really.â You admitted, âBeen a little too busy to be playing philosopher, yâknow?â You gestured to the mountains of paperwork littering your desk.
âYeah, I get it. Just⌠make sure you give it some thought. The prince⌠Heâs not a bad guy.âÂ
âYou should know better than to gossip at work,â A voice seethed. Your heads whipped around to find an orange snake yokai glaring at the two of you. It was one of the Viscountâs henchmen. Snake Lee or Snake Li, you couldnât really tell.Â
April immediately went back to cleaning the windows, and your quill quickened on its page. You both uttered apologies to the yokai, and bowed your heads.Â
You didnât want to think about the Prince, or any noble really. Not a second more than you were being paid to.Â
But then again, April was the highlight of your day.Â
âŚ
As promised, Lee brought you a wooden sword to practice with, and would easily fight you off with random sticks heâd find. It wasnât exactly sparring, but you both agreed on meeting at the village outskirts, since there wasnât a park or official training ground. Just a little ways off the main road, you hadnât come across anyone outside of the occasional wagon.Â
âSo⌠seriously, whatâs the prince like?â You asked Lee, sticking your sword in the ground. Jokes aside, he had actually served him, right?Â
Leo followed your lead, strapping the wooden sword to his belt. âHeâs a cool guy. Were you, uh, looking to meet him at the festival?âÂ
âGod no. April and I got into an argument over nobles the other day, and I promised Iâd keep an open mind.âÂ
His eyes widened, âWait, what? Was this when you were sick?â
âOf course not, it was during work.â
He stared in confusion.
ââŚAprilâs been serving the Viscount for a week. Didnât you know?â
A simple look at his uncloaked face said he did not.Â
âSheâs⌠What kind of work?â
âServant stuff.â You shrugged, âCleaning out the annexes for Lady Barbaraâs dresses.âÂ
You picked the wooden sword back up and swung it at Leeâs stick. The wooden edge bounced off the side, and Leoâs stick didnât move.
âLee? Anyone home?â
âIâll talk to her.âÂ
The words left his mouth before he could stop them.Â
You shrugged it off, and eyed his concealed pocket watch. It was getting late, and the sky wasnât getting any lighter.
âDo you know the route to get back to the castle?â
Lee snapped out of his thoughts.
âOf course. Just a⌠little to the left. And then the road right⌠and left⌠again?â He dug a map from his belt. You watched him fumble with the paper.Â
Your lip quirked up in a grin, âYou are the worst navigator Iâve ever seen.â
âHey, I use portals. My placements are exact.â
