St. Mark Ji Tianxiang is venerated as the patron saint of drug addicts, those struggling with substance abuse, and people battling despair or hopelessness.
St. Mark Ji Tianxiang (1834–1900) was a Chinese lay Catholic, physician, and martyr who remained steadfast in his faith despite a lifelong struggle with opium addiction. He was executed during the Boxer Rebellion and canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2000.
