if a system has an introject with a 'problematic' source, it is NOT your place to ensure that alter is fully source separated. that is THAT SYSTEM'S BUSINESS. you can ask them to just not talk about their source, but it is NOT your place to force them to source separate. YOU ARE NOT THEIR DOCTOR. YOU ARE NOT THEM. IT IS NOT YOUR BUSINESS.

Source Separation is a form of recovery that TAKES TIME. It looks different for everyone. Hell, in my system, it's different between every introject! a little under half of my system is made up of introjects, some of us are "fully"* source separated, others aren't at all, and others are somewhere in the middle. Some of these introjects, on all ends of the spectrum, are sourced from problematic characters or problematic shows. where they land on the progress bar to source separation should not be the concern of a random discord mod that claims their server is a "safe space for systems" if they don't view introjects as their source. Forcing source separation when an introject isn't ready can be HARMFUL to not only the introject but the system AS A WHOLE.

Tonight (07.09.26), we gather in prayer for the following intentions, asking always for the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our loving Mother:

* For the intentions of the Holy Father, and for the Holy Church of Christ, that she may always remain united in truth, charity, and faithful communion under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

* For those who have recently entered the Catholic Church, that they may persevere joyfully in the faith and grow ever deeper in their love for Christ.

* For all who have left the faith, and for those experiencing spiritual dryness, indifference, or distance from the Lord, that through the loving intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, they may be encouraged to return to her Son, encounter His infinite mercy, and remain steadfast in His love.

* For all newly married couples, that Christ may always be the foundation of their homes, and for those whose marriages are burdened by trials, that through the loving intercession of Saints Louis and Zélie Martin, they may receive the graces of fidelity, unity, perseverance, reconciliation, and enduring love.

* For a mother who is awaiting the results of a possible thyroid cancer diagnosis, that Jesus Christ, the Divine Physician and Great Healer, may mercifully preserve her health, grant her peace amid uncertainty, and, if it be His holy will, spare her from this illness.

* We also pray to Our Lord in the Most Holy Eucharist, asking Him to deepen our faith in the mystery of the Eucharist. May we always believe more firmly in His true, real presence in the Blessed Sacrament, and receive Him with hearts full of love, reverence, and gratitude.

Lord, we place all of these intentions at Your feet. You are the Creator of all things and our Divine Healer. You sent Your only Son for our salvation and continue to bless us with countless graces each day. We trust everything to You, knowing that Your plans are always greater than our own. May Your holy will be done in every intention we have offered tonight. Amen.

and hell, even if they were a cult, then that means you should be treating the members in the geoup with the patience, kindness and awareness you would treat cult victims, because surely you just want to help them and don’t just want to cause paranoia in a mental health space, right????

while i see this sentiment mostly in the pro endos who have stuck their head further up their ass than the rest of their club, i have seen this stuff echoed sometimes in anti endo communities and i need you guys to knock it off

being on the other side is so heartbreaking bc this person wants something from you that you cant give them, and it feels horrible to tell them that and watch your friendship crumble because they yearn for something you cant even imagine and you feel like its your fault for hurting them.

Alters and the self-states that make up PTSD develop from the same process, just on different levels of complexity. If it were possible to split alters without trauma it would also have to be possible to develop PTSD without trauma, which it obviously isn't.

And importantly, splitting because of stress is not an exception to this.

The development of alters and PTSD is tied to a person's integrative capacity, which is made up of their mental energy and mental efficacy (ability to use that energy effectively).

When both of these are high, the person will easily be able to integrate their experiences even if those experiences are stressful or frightening. When both are low, the person will lose their ability to engage in more high level integrative actions, making them more vulnerable to structural dissociation until their integrative capacity recovers.

Chronic stress lowers a person's integrative capacity and prevents it from regenerating, and as a result people who have experienced complex trauma (which is required for the development of DID) tend to be stuck in a constant state of low mental energy and efficacy.

As such, if you have already been severely traumatized over and over, you are much more vulnerable to being traumatized again, even in response to things that a non-traumatized person would likely be able to cope with. This is what people commonly refer to as the "window of tolerance".

However, when that threshold is crossed, it is still a trauma response even if we wouldn't traditionally call the event that caused it "trauma". Neuropsychologically speaking, the exact same process of developing PTSD for the first time is happening when you split because of stress. Trauma is still trauma to your body and mind even if you're choosing not to label it that way.
