INDOMITABLE: CHAPTER TWO

In the first couple of weeks after she was brought around from the anaesthetic that had kept her in a state of unconsciousness for four months, anyone who visited Ellis Grant did so at their own risk. Withdrawals from the high doses of pain relief she had been receiving and the devastation that came with the realisation of what had happened to her meant that Ellis was volatile, agitated and, at times, down right rude to anyone that so much as breathed in her presence. Her family, and both Owen and Lowery continued to visit her daily however, despite her outbursts, tears, and the snarky comments they received whenever they did so. They knew that she was suffering, and Noah had told them that it would be this way for a while, at least until her body got used to living without the drugs that it had become so dependent on.

I know I know I know!!! SO SO SO exciting honestly aaahh. Well Lowery and Ellis’ relationship was lowkey going to be on the rocks in Indomitable, but knowing that he’s coming back for Dominion makes me kind of want to plot some sort of redemption for their relationship, I’m not 100% sure though, we will have to see what feels right for Ellis because she has changed since the first book. I’ve been writing Indomitable all day !!! After discussing with @klavshargreevs I decided to write the scenes i was most motivated for (so actual movie scenes) rather than Ellis’ recovery because I think that’s whats been setting me back. So whilst I’ve written quite a lot, it’s not the right bit so I can’t update yet but i’ll definitely be updating soon! I’m so happy it’s not just gonna be me reading it haha

ooooooh my darling, sweet, tortured ellis… she’s having a rough old time of it. I’m currently writing Indomitable and at the moment we’re still at the part of the fic where elle is in hospital recovering, but i think i’ll only continue that for perhaps 2 more chapters before getting into the more movie related and exciting parts of the story. this is a little of what i wrote today if that is of any interest…

• in the four years between insatiable and indomitable - ellis is in a  b a d  way• she’s not as fun loving and as care free as she once was• or as brave• she struggles with her mobility and walking/running in particular (which will be COOL when she’s running from a literal exploding volcano)• she’s also got a lowkey pain med problem• that does come in handy when her and owen get tranquilised and it wears off on her a  l o t  quicker than it does on him• generally everything is a little bit darker in this book• especially relationships which are at breaking point *cough* lowellis *cough*• but that may or may not have changed by the end of the book!

Honestly, the I worked so hard on the fic and it is so dear to me that it really means a lot to me to know that people take time out of their own lives to read something that I wrote. Also thank you for messaging me because messages like this are honestly so encouraging and lovely to read! I’m so so so glad you liked Ellis and especially her friendship with Owen, I know that a lot of people wanted her paired with Owen romantically but I personally never saw them working that way. Thank you again, honestly, this message has absolutely made my day!

Thank you so much bb !!! Okay so yes hot doc Noah Shepherd is pretty much crucial to Ellis’ recovery. He was her head surgeon throughout all of the various surgeries she underwent, he was there when she woke up, he’s a constant throughout all of her rehabilitation and he will pretty much stop at nothing when it comes to helping her. He comes to care a lot for her, she’s different to anyone he’s ever met, her spirit is indomitable and she is just one of the most interesting people he’s ever met. It goes against all kinds of codes of conduct for a medical professional to have any sort of relationship with his patient but Noah can’t help the way he feels about Ellis. She’s honestly oblivious to it at the beginning, and gets super annoyed with Lowery when he starts acting like a jealous boyfriend (which causes a serious rift between the couple because she thinks he’s being ridiculous and he thinks she’s being purposefully ignorant). Ellis finds Noah very easy to talk to, and she feels like she has to be strong with her family and with both Owen and Lowery but she can be broken with Noah, he doesn’t judge her for it and he makes her feel better about her situation. I really love them a lot tbh, but also I don’t and it is a struggle.

Lowery and Ellis’ relationship is not in the best of places when she goes to the island and her leaving could pretty much be make or break for them to be honest. There is a lot of tension in the relationship because of a certain doctor who has helped Ellis through her recovery. So basically when Ellis leaves, she is going in the knowledge that Lowery might not be home when she gets back (if she gets back) 

Thank you so much love !!! Well, funnily enough, Ellis’ recovery isn’t actually all smooth sailing and so she isn’t actually wanting to go back to the island at all initially. Whilst Owen is trying to put it behind him, Ellis lowkey pretends it didn’t happen at all and is in some serious denial when Claire shows up asking for their help. But obviously they both end up going back, even though Ellis isn’t as strong as she once was so Owen is naturally v protective and v worried about her…and don’t get me started on Lowery oh boy.
