Bro what about Finral??? What about Finral, who was exiled from his family for being too 'useless' and accepted his job as Yami's personal mode of transportation, what about when he tried to escape the Underwater Temple by himself but instead chose to stay and fight for the first time in his life???? What about when he finally stands up for himself and goes against his brother, who has been nothing but cruel to him all his life?? And almost die for it?? What about Finral????

Dude what about Vanessa?? What about Vanessa's origin story literally being her escaping a cage after being told that she has the power to choose her fate? What about her unlocking the power of fate when faced with her mother trying to control and kill her family?

What about YAMI bro?? You don't even expect him to grow as a character! He's a squad captain he's already super powerful he doesn't need to grow but he DOES!! He learns how to slash fucking dimensions when needing to protect his squad after they've already surpassed all their own limits!!

Watched a youtube short called "Animes you HATE" and the very first words spoken were "Black Clover suffers from a boring story and boring characters" were you conscious when watching the show?? Did you fall asleep???? What show did you WATCH because it wasn't Black Clover

Boring characters what are you ON about dude have you no respect for the GOAT Fuegoleon?? And his "Being weak is nothing to be ashamed of! However, staying weak is!" boring characters my ass tell me you didn't want to know every word that Gordon was saying tell me you weren't at ALL suspicious of the pristine Golden Dawn captain wearing a mask all the time

genuinely though the way each bull manages to have their stereotypes and break loose from them. like i know you talked about finral and vanessa and noelle and yami but like. luck. luck was a stereotype until it's revealed he's so much more complex than "uee hee murder" !!!!! he's a traumitized child and he's learning about safe families one magna-face-blown-off at a time!

That was LICHT bro!! That was LICHT!!!! "It appeared humanity was going to be slain by the demons, but a single mage saved them all. He was called the Wizard King, and he became a legend" the iconic skull we see in the beginning of every single episode?? THAT WAS LICHT'S SKULL. THE WHOLE FUCKING TIME. YOU HAD NO IDEA

Something I've found to be underappreciated is how every little thing matters. It always comes back around. The main antagonist for the first like 110 episodes??? Guess what: that's his skull in Hage village. Nero exhibits signs of intelligence as early as episode 13. Black Clover episode 90 out here like "heyyy remember alllllll the way back in episode 8 when Magna said that the base changes all the time and you thought it was just a weird funky detail that'll never be brought up again? Introducing: Henry"

but okay yeah back to the topic of character development, i honestly hold black clover in the highest regard of any anime i've ever watched in terms of character development. one of the others up there for me is haikyuu and they're both at the top for me for the same reason; they introduce you to a character, and they give you a core of their personality. they might not be complex or likeable right away. they may seem shallow or stupid or whatever. but that's the best part. because then they take the core of these characters, and they build around it. which creates these wonderfully intricate characters with motivations and stories and room for so much growth while still keeping true to who they are.

yeah the character quirk repeat thing may seem annoying at first but honestly to me it grew so endearing!!! to see how much these characters have grown and changed and shifted, but also to see that they haven't really changed who they are to get there? because the black bulls are all about acceptance, even for your flaws or misgivings. you don't have to change who you are for them because they'll support you however they can anyways. i love it!!!! its so cool!!!

and maybe i'm a little biased with how much i like it because like, found family is my #1 trope. you give me an anime with any sliver of found family and i'm devouring that. but the black bulls are just so, special and dear to me. all these people who've seen the ugliest sides of the world, shunned or abused or abandoned by those who were supposed to protect them, somehow managed to find each other and make it out the other side even stronger. it's just, so, AGGGHGHH

AND YEAH DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE PLOT. something i REALLY like about black clover is just how continual the story is!!! it doesn't feel like there's any awkward breaks between arcs to me, it just feels like everything just keeps moving and i love it so much!! especially in the beginning, you've got all these character-building and world-building arcs to set up even more for later, but at the same time still building up to the mystery of the eye of the midnight sun??? ITS AWESOME!!!!!!!! and the stuff with liebe and the other devils???? and the silvas?????? and nacht????????

OH OH i don't want to get into it too much because i don't want to post a bunch of manga spoilers on my blog but MAGNA'S CHARACTER ARC. OH MY GOD. dude. i literally cannot express just how fond of these characters i am and just how much they mean to me. they're all so good i literally cant trust anyone who says they think black clover is bad if they've watched more than a few episodes of the show. like seriously
