Just weeks ahead of their anticipated debut, MORE VISION'S upcoming group LNGSHOT has found itself at the center of growing conversation—and controversy—following their surprise appearance at the 2025 Melon Music Awards (MMA).
The group, who are scheduled to make their official debut in January, joined label head Jay Park’s performance as special guests. While fans expected the four previously announced members—Kwon Ohyul, Kim Ryul, Jung Woojin, and Louis Elliot—to appear, the stage revealed an unexpected fifth member.
Prior to the performance, LNGSHOT had been promoted as a four-member group following the announcement of their debut lineup in September. The unexpected appearance of Juno has led to questions regarding the group’s formation process and MORE VISION’s decision to keep her involvement private.
“I genuinely thought I was watching the wrong performance,” one fan commented online. “Everyone knew the four members, but suddenly there was another person on stage.”
While some fans were surprised by the reveal, others pointed out that rumours surrounding an unidentified trainee had circulated online for months.
Earlier this year, an alleged private Instagram account belonging to a trainee linked to MORE VISION gained attention after online users noticed similarities between the account holder and the rumoured fifth member. However, at the time, neither the company nor the trainee had confirmed any connection to LNGSHOT.
Following Park Juno's appearance, previously discussed rumours resurfaced, with fans revisiting old posts and pre-debut content in an attempt to piece together information about the newest member.
The sudden addition has also sparked debate regarding the group’s identity.
Some fans questioned why MORE VISION chose to hide her involvement until such a major event.
“Was this supposed to be a surprise reveal, or was the company avoiding backlash?” one user asked.
Others defended the decision, saying that the reaction itself proved why a traditional introduction may have been difficult.
And on December 20 after the performance, Jay Park tightened the seal with a post of Juno, captioning it, "forgot one boi."
LNGSHOT had already been facing mixed public perception following an earlier Instagram post featuring the members alongside Jay Park, posing with raised middle fingers. The image, which quickly circulated online, drew criticism from some who viewed it as inappropriate for a pre-debut group, while other defended it as an attempt to establish a more rebellious, raw image.
Now, with the addition of Juno, discourse surrounding the group has only intensified.
The most notable aspect of her inclusion is the shift toward a co-ed lineup—an increasingly visible but still relatively uncommon structure within the industry. Recent developments, seen through idols like HERAN in ENHYPEN and emerging co-ed formations like ADP, suggest that audiences are becoming more open to the concept.
However, LNGSHOT's approach—introducing a single female member into an otherwise male lineup without a proper reason has raised questions about group balance, concept direction, and long-term strategy.
Beyond the co-ed element, the timing itself has become a focal point of speculation.
Was Juno always intended to be part of LNGSHOT, or was her addition a last-minute decision?
Some neitzens have expressed curiosity toward the group's unconventional rollout and evolving structure, while others remain skeptical of its execution. The combination of an already polarizing image, a non-traditional lineup, and late-stage member reveal has placed the group under heightened scrutiny before even stepping onto a debut.
With LNGSHOT’s debut approaching, attention is now focused on how Park Juno will fit into the group’s dynamic and whether MORE VISION’s unconventional introduction strategy will benefit the group.
( sunnyday ) I don't think the issue is that she's a girl. the issue is that the company announced a lineup and then changed it for no damn reason.
( bluehour ) I understand why people are upset lol, but I have to admit that the reveal was memorable. and jay park was probably betting on people talking about this, so fairs to him.
( nana ) I'm still not convinced that adding one female member to a boy group is a good idea. I hope the company knows what they're doing and have clear direction.
( cherryblossom ) I understand the criticism, but I also understand why the company kept her hidden. the reaction online over the past few months to the idea of her alone kind of proves their point lmao.
( eunhae21 ) a few years ago people would have completely rejected this. It's insane to see how the conversation around co-ed has changed. five years ago we would have had people writing petitions over this.
( noona88) heran's success in enhypen probably made companies realise that the audience is more open minded now. but even when she debuted there wasn't much people could do because of the survival show.
( peachytea ) the netz said the same thing about heran when she debuted. now nobody questions her place anymore, so it's definitely up to juno to prove the same.
( bluebird ) I love how the conversation has shifted from "can a girl be in the group?" to "does she fit the group?". like people don't really care anymore as long as she fits the concept and can hold her own.
