This reminds me of Augustine’s explanations possible relationships between the soul and the body. Does the soul work in conjunction with the body like a team of horses–equal parties in determining what the person does, are they like a horse and rider with the soul reigning in the body and determining where it goes, or are they like a candle in the lantern, the body providing a container for the soul while the soul provides the body’s reason for being. In the case of the Koolade man, he seems most like the lantern. But what does that mean? I have no idea, but I sure do have a degree in philosophy!
