why do other men even try when Joseph Quinn exists??

I’m re-watching S4 and I think the D&D game that they play in the first episode is foreshadowing for S5. As we have seen D&D has always set up how the current season is going to go (i.e Will in S1 saying “it got me, the Demogorgon got me” and than that is what happens in real life in S1, same with them even mentioning Vecna in the D&D game they play in S4) BUT if you listen to the conversation when Eddie is setting up the game he brings back Vecna and everyone yells “Vecna is dead” and Mike says “he was killed by Kas!” (that line could be foreshadowing for the Eddie/Kas theory btw) but then Eddie says “So it was thought but Vecna lives!”. At the end of S4 they attempt to kill Vecna and it’s never really confirmed in the season that they don’t believe they have succeeded in that mission. For all they know the gate was opened because Vecna got to Mac BEFORE they “killed” him. Eddie then goes on to ask the group what they plan to do “You are scared, you are tired, you are injured” (everyone at the end of S4) “do you flee Vecna and his cultists? or do you stand your ground and fight?” to which everyone replies “fight to the death”
