You don’t even have a dog.” DOES have the implication from Stratt that Grace has no obligations on earth, and no one who depends on him emotionally or physically (not true). BUT ALSO it means that because everybody currently close to Grace is on Project Hail Mary, there will be nobody to protest Grace being launched into space against his will.
