THIS! So much I can say about this wall wrap. First, I want to preface what I am about to say with; I got fired from my Job (The one I thought was going to propel me to new heights) on Friday July 24, 2020. In a sense it did. It taught me a lot in only 6 months. But this wall wrap of Tyler Perry’s Face with that specific saying motivated me daily to stay the course! I walked out the door to this image everyday before I got promoted and then demoted on my last job. 🤷🏽♀️ Such is life right?
You see, before being offered this position, I was in a total comfort zone and loving my job, working for, what I thought was an amazing entity; Orange County Public Schools. I was THEE Evans High School Career and Technical Education Specialist. I rocked that position to say the least. I absolutely fell in love even more once it fell in my lap and I was actually doing something I thought I loved and wanted ever since knowing about that type of position. It was a position I envied from inside the classroom as a passionate teacher, whose passion to teach was being ripped away every year I taught. I was like, “Man! It would be so nice to work in a position outside the stress of the classroom that gave me the opportunity to impact youth on a larger scale.”
While in the classroom I strived to light fires daily, but then the pressures of politics in education kept eating away at my spirit. It hurt. Because my ❤️ is huge, I constantly felt like I was doing a disservice to all my children. Yes, I said “my” because that is who they were when they were with me, mine. I loved them and wanted the best for them, even that one student every teacher has that ALWAYS shows up to school 🙄. They often show up even on the weekends, because he or she was always on my mind. Why you ask? Because I was constantly trying to figure out ways to reach that one child that got on my nerves (changing lesson plans, google searching creative ways to teach a lesson, etc.), but I still loved them like my own, nonetheless.
Fast forward, through a family detour, I can talk about at another time, to January 28, 2019. My family and I decided to move back to Orlando, which is where we started our family in 2011. We were now BAAAACK!!! Back to what was our old normal, MY safe place. The job I wanted before leaving Orlando in 2014, literally fell in my lap. It was my ticket to finally being able to impact students on a larger scale outside of the classroom. Most teachers I know want out of the classroom because it can be the most stressful, challenging, under appreciated job any human being can do. #period
Now let’s truly ask ourselves who contributed to the society we now see? Take a look around, what do you see? Let me help you…I see a society that is trying hard just to get by, cheating to make it through, lying to get a dollar, scheming to reach the top of the pyramid etc. These are all products of our flawed educational system. Yea, I said it!! 😡 Some of us choose integrity others choose 💰 💴 💵 . Leaving those two choices on the table for any child, turned adult, they will almost always choose 💰 💴 💵 over integrity because they know they need it to survive, (it’s all they know, and they see their family constantly struggling). Likewise, I did as well when taking my last job. I chose what appeared to be a higher paying salary and status booster over job satisfaction (I was happy where I was in my comfort zone and still I left, climbing the ladder, reaching for the dollar).
Now, let’s take all of what I just said about education and let’s look at it again by adding a third choice to the options. ✝️ , Integrity, 💰 💴 💵 . What would you choose now? I am putting this out there because the foundation on which we should be standing on has been lost somewhere along the way. ✝️ (Jesus) is taken out of everything and is no longer included in the so called “agenda;” the educational platform. It has to start with our children.
I want to challenge the the U.S. School System to put ✝️ Christ back in school, remove ALL politics, and make learning; biblical, free, fun, loving, and exciting again. Children should look forward to being educated and nourished, parents should feel confident that their child will learn when they send them to school and confident that they will have fun learning and lastly, know the foundation on which their learning is being built on is A SOLID ROCK, that can withstand any storm!
Take out all the unnecessary politics, because none of it matters. Jesus Christ matters and until He is first priority in our nation again, nothing else will matter. Amen 🙏🏾🤍💙
