Art fight attacks so far!! I'm such a slow artist guys I'll catch up eventually giggles

[ID: Two drawings of the IceWing dragon Hvitur from Wings of Fire. The first on the left is from Animated Wings of Fire and the one on the right is with MDRZ headcannon designs. Hvitur is a cool grey with very pale grey underbelly. He has a small pale grey slash on the upper part of his muzzle. He also has dark blue sclera with a bright ice blue iris. The Hvitur on the right had dark grey deer-like antlers as horns./ End]

I tried my hand at the Animated Wings of Fire style! The Hvitur design belongs to the team at AWoF. Check their link at the bottom. The other design uses their colors with my headcannons.

It's not. particularly a BAD scene I guess its fine but knowing what the scene ORIGINALLY was this. really frustrates me .

Buddy's family being from Poland, as well as them being jewish are two VERY important aspects of his character. It's specified that for YEARS he has been tortured and made fun of by other people around town for simply EXISTING because of these factors. This is why in the original book he immedietly becomes defensive of himself when Dot asks

Dot doesn't mean any harm by it, of course. They're friends. But in the moment, Buddy can't really recognize it because hes so used to it being followed up by horrible remarks. He lashes out to prevent it from starting up. He needs to protect himself and in a way his family as well

I think this scene is just. A really good way of showing Buddy and Dot's friendship, as well as just them as characters. And it saddens me a lot to see how horribly it was done in the graphic novel because!!! This was one of my favorite scenes!!!!!!! It shows their complexities and Buddy's trauma that hangs over him, but it also shows the extents of what both of them are willing to go to keep the other happy

I do understand that this change was likely made because. In graphic novels you have to draw every single thing individually which takes time! I respect this!!! But with such an important characterization scene for not only the protagonist, but his friend, AND their relationship, dont you think you should??? Leave it unchanged???? Let your characters be complex!!! Let your characters be imperfect!!!! Let their relationships be a bit messy !!!!!!!
