they're also the only people in their world who know what those names mean and why they have them

Propaganda: "Part of it is Karl Urban’s charisma, which makes the character so charming despite being so awful. Part of it is just that you do understand him, his motivation is so human. He thinks he’s doing all this for love, but that’s got corrupted somewhere along the way and it’s become about control. He’s a perfect mirror to his enemy, but while Homelander can see that, Butcher is still convinced he’s a good man."

Problematic because: "He kills just, so many people. Also, tricks another character into killing innocents" Propaganda: "Your honor I love him. He’s awful; he has absolutely no compunction about killing, and as mentioned he tricks another character into killing innocents, including that character’s best friend/lover. But. First. He’s ridiculously charismatic about it. Second. The character he tricks has been blinded and doesn’t know it’s him, and they end up living together for quite some time and he makes this twisted little home with him. It’s awful, but also he genuinely starts to care. It’s so messed up and I love it. Also. Also. He’s the hottest person in the show and I guess I’m shallow like that. But his character compels me so."
