In the end, everything can be reduced to the one simple element which is all a person can count upon in his existence: the capacity to love. That element can grow within the soul to become the supreme factor which determines the meaning of a person’s life. My function is to make whoever sees my films aware of his need to love and to give his love and aware that beauty is summoning him.

“I look back at one of my favorite movies of all time, A Woman Under The Influence, by Cassavetes. The thing I love so much about that film is how alive it is and how open it is. Its very specific and yet its very open also. The first time I saw that movie, I thought it was a movie about a crazy woman. And I’ve seen the movie 25, 30 times. And I saw it again last year and she was absolutely the only sane person in that movie. And its the same movie, but as I changed, the movie changed. And I just appreciate a movie that has that capacity for interpretation.”
