🌹tryin🌹 (Author unknown - found on @babyyshark ) over the past year and a bit I've been trying to change what i expose myself to thru social media, because I've noticed how much more i seem to consume it. I've deleted all "transformation " fitness people, all the people i could compare myself to negatively, all the images of women society tricks me into thinking i should be. It feels good, my body and mental health thank me. Ive upped the amount of strong ppl i follow, heavy on art, heavy on the feminism, heavier on the mental health advocacy, heavier on minority representation, heavier on the things that *should* be heavier imo. I know its not healthy to consume so much social media, and maybe when I'm ready to slow it down, i will, but until then i will curate my space as best i can. This is the saddest piece. I was so proud of this surrealism study i did in grade 12. I rendered it to the literal best of my abilities and was so happy with it. So much so, that i took it out west with me. I had it up on my wall for 2 years. Then i met a boy who i thought was cool and for some reason i felt like he deserved to own this cherished piece... He spilt coffee on it accidentally, gave it back and then left the city i lived in. Lesson: don't give your cherished art to fuckboys.
