I think Wednesday is teeing up to be a great 4 season show (and unlike other shows they better STOP THERE!)
Based on the cast announcements of Season 3 and what we know from the end of Season 2, we know this season will dive more into A) Wednesday’s extended family and her psychic powers, B) Enid’s family / more werewolf lore, and C) The hyde pack and maybe a Tyler redemption arc (not opposed if they do it well)
Now, flash forward to the end of Season 3. IF THEY WANT TO HAVE ANOTHER SEASON, THEY NEED A SOMEWHAT HEROIC ENDING!! That means Wednesday regains at least most control of her powers, Enid lives and returns to human, and if Tyler is to remain part of the main players, a redemption arc that doesn’t immediately turn into another attempt at romance with Wednesday.
(For context, I ship wenclair but think Tyler’s a cool character from a writing/story perspective. I think beating the same romance into submission is a terrible idea writing wise, but I also know the likelihood of canon wenclair is slim these days.)
My theory is this season will tee us up for some powerful outcast teens that end up saving the world in season 4.
S1: Introduce Nevermore, characters, and Wednesday’s powers
S2: Nevermore problems, characters have problems, Wednesdays powers have problems + Introduce family drama, Alpha situation, and Hyde Pack
S3: Family drama, Alpha situation, and Hyde Pack, Wednesday’s powers return
S4: SOME MAJOR WORLD ENDING PLOT that requires a team made of a fully powered Raven, Alpha, redeemed Hyde (or Hyde pack), invisible girl, puglsey the power outlet, and all our other unlikely friends (Bianca, Ajax, Eugene)
That’s my take as a writer and lover of fiction. I know some folks are bummed next season won’t center around nevermore, but I think one season of Summer Break ft a shit ton of supernatural fix its will lead to a great nevermore season 4 with a hell raising catastrophe.
