Philip and Aurora Chapter 4
âMr. OâDonnel!â Mrs. Strickland shouted. âSleeping again. No one sleeps in my class. If youâre not interested in my class, well then, doorâs always open.â
âIâm sorry maâam. Just...â I apologized and try to explain but...
âNo more reasons. Now answer the problem on the board.â
After answering the question, I got back to my seat. I donât know why but I remembered our memories.
âYou really didnât understand finding LCD?â she asked.
âYeah, duh!â I said. âNot just LCD. Whole math! I really donât understand the point of studying math. I knew how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.â
âYeah. Whatever. You really hate mathematics. While me, I really love math.â She bragged.
âOpposite attracts!â I said. Yeah, she really love math. She even wanna be a math teacher.
âBro, you okay?â A husky voice asked. Suddenly my senses were back. Itâs dismissal. Dayâs over, finally.
âOh yeah. Whatâs up?â I greeted in response to him, Carllyle. We started to walk out of the room.
âIâm great. But you, Iâm asking you.â
 âMe?â I pointed myself.
âYeah. It seems that youâre not with you. Like your mind is somewhere out there.â
âNah, I just feel sick.â I lied. As we were walking to the locker hall, we saw something nasty, disgusting, and inappropriate.
âSick? Or sick of love?â Carllyle said.
âLove? I donât need love. Love doesnât exist. Itâs just chemical reaction in our brain. Thereâs no such thing as love. A true man doesnât need a babeâ I grumbled. I walked out of the locker hall. I canât take it. Carllyle followed me.
 âReally?â he smirked.
âYep, dude. Canât you see them? Theyâre disgusting. Theyâre kissing. Almost making love. Showing their love in public. In school.â I growled. I just canât understand her. I mean them.
âDude, not a big deal. NOT A BIG DEAL. Weâre seniors. 18 above, itâs legal.â He reasoned.
âBut please not in public.â I sighed. âI gotta go. Maybe I need some rest.â
âArenât we...â He probably plan something like hanging out with him, but... âFine, I think you really need A LOT of rest.â
I came home at 4:36 in the afternoon. Sunâs almost down.
 âHowâs school?â My mother asked.
âGreat.â I lied. I walk straight to my room.
I lie down on my bed. I closed my eyes then sleep.
It was 7:21 when I woke up. As I open my eyes, I saw my diary/journal/whatever you called beside my head. I tried to move cause my body aches. I get the diary/journal/whatever you called and stand up. I walk to my study table and sat on the chair. I rubbed my watery eyes before I opened the diary/journal/whatever you called. I started to continue reading it.
Can we skip to the part when Gellie and I are still sweet, inlove, and you know. Fine, Iâll just summarize. Every month we had a special date. Like weâre going on a restaurant. But, letâs skip to the part I gave her flowers, chocolates, and a big teddy bear which she named it Ellie. El for Elyar and Lie for Gellie. Letâs skip to the part I slept with her every weekend. Letâs skip to the moment of our kisses, cuddlings etc. Letâs skip to the part we went into a beach with our family. Letâs skip to the part of our graduation. Letâs skip to the part we were holding our hands while promising that weâll be together until college. Skip to the part we were biking, bonding, malling, walking, running. Probably skip everything.
I woke up with a big smile on my face. I donât know but Iâm in a good mood today.
A good day to bike. I started biking. I passed at Ellieâs house, well I passed here almost everyday. But this is different. As I was biking, someone shouted.
I stop biking and look back. The voice doesnât seems familiar but how does a stranger know my name.
âElyar.â The girl with dark hair and dark eyes said. Her smile is familiar. She wore sparkling yellow dress. She seems familiar.
âEllie?â I asked like Iâm not sure if it was her.
âYeah. How are you? Wow. You really changed a lot. Shoulders broader than I expected. Voice deeper. Height taller. Face, well face. You look more mature and handsome.â She look at me from head to toe, as if Iâm new to her.
âWell, yeah. Thanks. You too. Uhm, more beautiful. And more talkative.â I blurted. We laughed.
âOh yeah.â She raised an eyebrow.
âI mean. You... You...â I bit my lower lip.
âNah. Just kidding.â She punched my arm. âSo can I join you?â
âYou busy? Arenât you going anywhere?â
âJust a moment. Iâll go get my bike.â
We biked together. While biking, we were chatting about our lives. Howâs my place? Howâs London? Howâs high school here and in London?
âWell, life at London is good. At first, it was hard. You know home-sickness. But I just got used to it.â She said.
âOh. So donât you have any friends there?â I asked.
âOf course, I have at least 3 bestfriends. Rache, Sadie, Liz and Emma. Theyâre all kind. We hang out a lot. Theyâre ok.â
âOh. Uhm. Can I ask you a question?â
âYeah. Sure. But before that can we take a rest for a while on the park?â She requested.
âOh yeah. Sure. Thatâs a good idea.â
She sat on a bench in the park, while I  bought some snacks at the food stands that we could eat.
âSo what were you saying?â she said.
âAh, yeah. That can I ask if...â
âIf?â she asked with mouthful of chips.
âIf you have or had, you know a boyfriend there?â I finally asked.
âBoyfriend?â she laughed. âNo, I didnât have one.â
Gosh thanks. I donât know why, but I was relieved. After all, I have a girlfriend.
âBut I have a suitor. His name is Adam.â
âAdam?â I almost swallow my food without even chewing it.
âYeah. Adam Smith.â She added. I coughed. Is he an economist? Reincarnated. âYou okay?â
âYeah. Iâm fine.â I can feel my nose were getting red. âSo about him?â
âWell, heâs cute. Blonde hair. Got this appeal. He has a good taste in fashion. He has this sparkling blue eyes. Dimples. Heâs quite muscular. A jock type, actually. But, I just donât know if heâs really serious, you know with me.â She explained.
 âOh. Great.â I smiled.
âWhat do you mean great?â she asked.
âGreat. I mean, great you have many friends and... and a suitor. I think your life there is great.â That was close.
 âNah. I almost died there.â
 âAlmost died?â I asked.
âYep. A guy once offered me drugs. But, duh, I donât use drugs. So he tried to punched me but good thing that my brother arrived.â
âThen what happened with the guy?â
âWell, luckily he got jailed.â She said.
We did chat a lot. But as I was writing this, I forgot some of the thing we had talked. I just remember her smile, beautiful and gorgeous face. Little didnât I know, It was already 12:03 afternoon. I forgot. It was in my head earlier. Oh gosh, Iâm dead. I check my phone. 32 missed calls from Gellie.
When I reach the mall, I was nearly dying. I look around but she was nowhere to found.
Someone knocked on my door. âYes?â
âDonât you wanna eat?â She asked in response. It was my mother. She cocked her head in.
âUhm. I think so. I think I donât have the apetite.â
She finally get in my room. âYou know what since you came back home, you seems tired, not just physically. I know this cause Iâm your mother. So would you mind telling the truth?â
âNah. Itâs just... Itâs... Itâs Gellieâ I stuttered.
âI saw her and her boyfriend.â
âYou still love her?â She asked.
 âYeah. But I...â I answered.
âYou know her. Just remember what she just wants to you. She did not love you. Sheâs not worth loving. Sheâ s...â
I cut her words. âYeah mom. I know. I just donât know why I felt pain whenever I see her with other boy. I donât if I still love her or I just kept forcing myself to. After all sheâs my first love.â
âFirst love never lastâ she muttered. âYou know what, you shouldnât be thinking of this. Why not join us in our dinner. Foodâs almost ready.â
âYeah. Good idea.â I agreed sadly.
