what was johnny's initial reaction to ponyboy?

soo johnny's first "introduction" to ponyboy was one of his articles writing about johnny's most recent match at the time which johnny loved that article so he went on a bit of a deep dive discovering that ponyboy was actually a sport journalist so he made sure to look out for him at his next match!

now when he actually decided to introduce himself to ponyboy after seeing him at another one of his matches, he's super nervous because he thinks ponyboy is very pretty but more importantly he thinks he's really cool because of how he wrote about johnny and sports in general but he was very happy to meet ponyboy

johnny is always happy to win but he tends to be very self critical. even when he does win, he'll point out ways he could have won better and all the mistakes he made during the match. overall tho he loves winning and loves celebrating with his team

if he loses, he gets upset and quiet he doesn't like to talk to anyone when he loses because he's afraid he'll get mean. he'll only talk to dally after losing but he belongs to open up to ponyboy once they start becoming closer. He'll train extra hard after every loss

after a win, he'll go straight to ponyboy (after they go public ofc) and give hug a quick hug and kiss. after a loss, johnny will usually just head straight to the locker room and sit there

at first, they were both VERY panicked after the rumors spread. the rumors were practically impossible to deny it so they were panicking on what to say and what to do. both of them were worried about their careers and future
