The Estrella Nolasco Medical Fund is now live on GoFundMe. In this clip from my dash cam, you can see the Volvo turning in front of oncoming traffic and being impacted by Estrella’s Jeep Grand Cherokee, which stays almost completely out of frame. The force from that collision sent the Jeep hurdling toward me and into the side of my van. The van is damaged, but I am unharmed. Both other vehicles were destroyed and both drivers injured. Estrella, a hardworking mother of three who is pursuing a career as a veterinarian, got the worst of it. Her leg was broken in two places. BSV UPDATE: Everyone’s okay! Well - mostly. Everyone’s alive and without life-threatening injuries. I visited the other drivers in the hospital yesterday. All things considered, they were doing well and in good spirits. They will, however need to take some time away from their normal routines while they recover from their injuries. With their approval, I have set up a GoFundMe campaign to help with their expenses during this time, which I will complete tonight and publish tomorrow. 100% of contributions made there will go directly to them. BSV UPDATE: This morning, I was involved in a serious traffic accident. I am physically unharmed, and of the three vehicles affected, mine received the least damage - though the damage is extensive. I was barely involved except to have been hit by the aftermath of another wreck. The other two vehicles hit each other nearly head-on, and one of them ricocheted hard into the side of my van as I made a right turn onto the road where the incident took place. I caught the entire event on my dash cam and I am fully insured, so I have no worries about being found to be at fault or in the wrong in any way. However, this situation will undoubtedly be a hindrance to me in terms of time, money, and progress on the van and the BSV project in general. Best case scenario: they’re able to replace some parts, bend the rest back into place, and let me get on with it. Worst case scenario: the whole thing gets scrapped and I have to start all over. I really don’t like asking for anything directly; I’d much rather just let my supporters find me of their own free will - but if you’re reading this, now would be a great time to head over to my Patreon and throw a dollar into the digital guitar case at Patreon.com/TheBackstageVan Tomorrow, I will get the full case report from the police, move forward with the insurance process, and post photos of the damage to The Backstage Van. Once I am able to contact them, I will share more details about the accident and look into creating GoFundMe accounts to help with their expenses, at which point, I will share that information here as well.
