The “silhouette of a character during an ominous moment takes on the shape of a hat” isn’t anything new in WHA but I love how in this moment, Coco’s shadow is not a brimmed hat but a pointed hat! For context: this is in Chapter 50 during the Silver Eve Fesitval, where a child, enchanted by Coco’s winged cloak demonstration, asks if she can be a witch too. And I love it because the pointed hats are the “antagonists” here, the ones that crushes baby Coco’s dreams, the ones that enforce the secret to be kept. And Coco has not become one of them, which at this point in the story is becoming a more and more complex position to maintain. I really love it, because the horror of magic is an oft-touched topic in WHA but usually associated with the brimhats. This is a horror of the magic world that is purely associated with the pointy hats, and I love the artwork reinforcing that point home
