From Chelsea: “Hi everyone, I’m Chelsea and I’m a 29-year-old in Trinidad and Tobago. A few months ago, I escaped my physically abusive and violent household using my savings and wages from my job as an online tutor. When schools reopened in February, I lost my tutoring clients and my source of income. Around the same time, I unexpectedly lost my aunt who had been my primary support system. Because of government restrictions on teacher registration, I am no longer eligible to work in schools. High unemployment in the country has made it incredibly difficult to find a job, and I am struggling to afford basic bills such as rent, groceries, and necessary medication. I am asking for any assistance or support to ensure that I can remain in a safe environment as I continue to actively search for a new job.”
