"..There is always soma, delicious soma, half a gramme for a half-holiday, a gramme for a week-end, two grammes for a trip to the gorgeous East, three for a dark eternity on the moon..." Plot: 10/10 In a futuristic caste-based society, governed by logic and pharmacology, a jaded sleep-leaning-technician goes on a holiday to a Savage Reservation in New Mexico. He stumbles upon a woman from the World State who self-exiled herself to the reserve, her shame at giving natural birth prevents her from returning. Bernard brings her back along with her son, John. John, a man with a foot in the new and the old world, realises he does not belong in either. His alienation and anger boil over and he attacks the new society he once idolised. Characters: 10/10 I envied, identified with, loved and hated every single character. I saw all aspects of myself……my worst, my hidden, my real and my idealised, self Setting: 9/10 Vivid, haunting, inspiring. Theme: 10/10 As I said before, this is my favourite book. There is a reason this book makes it into so many "top 10 books ever written" lists. It is the most enlightening thing I have ever read. The message is all-encompassing. Every time I read this book the world makes sense, a dreadful kind of sense. Style and Mood: 10/10 Intensely intellectual, Huxley holds by the adage, “don’t underestimate your reader”. Total Score: 9.8/10 I recommend this book, and I have been recommending it since high school. You should not read it because it is a brilliant story, read it because it will change you. It will open your eyes, you might see horror, or you might see beauty, it depends on who you think you are. #bookstagram #bookstagrammers #bookish #bookporn #booksofinsta #bookaesthetic #bookrecommendations #aldoushuxley #bravenewworld #limitededitionprint #bookphotography #booklover #booknerd #bookclub #bookcoverdesign #soma #bookreview https://www.instagram.com/p/CLZNPKwLGQH/?igshid=cisn2zq1jv8s
