iāll refer to them as femmes or fembots when you call the male characters mascs or mascbots in the same breath. now that sounds silly, doesnāt it?
"Robot men and femmes"... The women word is right there... Robot women even sounds better than what ever hell that is.
Now now, they call male characters mechs sometimes
which is stupid. Like sure it sounds vaguely like men, but we can all agree that the word mech doesn't have gender attached to it, right?
iām assuming you mean ātheyā as writers for canon transformers media and like. i do not have the time to get into the bullshit of how a lot of the misogyny the transformers fandom perpetuates COMES from canon. authors like simon furman hate women so so deeply their work is infused with it, and for a while that work was canon. just because it was officially published doesnāt mean it has to be respected. and it isnāt respected. by like anyone. it was retconned. i understand what youāre trying to say, but your ānow nowā tone is not appreciated. male writer have and continue to try to justify female transformers as an āotherā so this āwell sometimes writers use itā doesnāt fly with me
To clarify, I meant fandom writers.
I don't really know if it's been used by official writers that way, but the amount of times I've seen mech used to refer solely to men on ao3 irks me. And it'll still irk me even if official media uses it.
I do agree that a lot of fandom misogyny comes from canon. The aligned continuity explanation of "only 1 out of 13 transformers are women because all women descended from Solus Prime" is such a blatant excuse to not include more women in the franchise. And my beef with Furman will forever be on sight for what he did in both the marvel and idw continuities.
iām realizing i lowkey misread your reply just a little bit and i do apologize for that but ive become very jaded when it comes to the tone of replies because i keep getting āi agree with your point BUTā specifically in regard to any critique of misogyny i have. ill get āi agree with what youāre saying but make your own postā ill make my own post and then get āi agree with what youāre saying but youāre targeting the wrong branch of the franchiseā or āi agree but x y and z also exists soā i canāt criticize the fandom. i canāt criticize the writers. i canāt criticize the big multimillion company behind the franchise. no matter where i go or how i approach it. whether i approach it jokingly and more lighthearted or genuinely seriously im dismissed because everyone would prefer to exist comfortably than have to have difficult conversations. and the thing is the point thatās trying to be made TO ME is the same point im making. it doesnāt matter that male characters have mech, its not the equivalent to femme or fembot since those are inherently tied to gender while mech derives from mechanical or mechanoid and was applied a gender to specifically other women. taking a term that has no gender and applying gender to it to try to seem āabove genderā while still using femme and fembot is ridiculous and seemingly something we agree on.
learning to draw elita is a work in progress but nevertheless i persist in the time honored practice of drawing girlbot

āerm i donāt thing cybertronians should be referred to as man or woman period! theyāre aliens!ā i see what you mean i know your intent but itās not that simple. female transformers are used as vessels for authors and artists misogyny constantly. they treat female transformers like they would any other woman. i care so much about women being called women because everyone treats it like a nasty word here. being like āboth gendered terms are stupid transformers shouldnāt have genderā discredits the misogyny these men are putting in this media. the ātransformers have no gender he/him was just the defaultā originatedššasšššašššmisogynistic conceptššš transmisogynistic specificallyššš womanhood is used as a concept of horror in transformers. spotlight arcee. exists. tfa blackarachnia uses her femininity as a weapon and is goggled at by the men and then called a disgusting freak by them two seconds later. tfa slipstream doesnāt have a set āstarscreamismā like the other clones but her presence as a woman is right there next to him being a liar a coward. not one good starscream trait is portrayed in the clones. slipstream is a joke at his expense. his effeminate side is a flaw just like him being a kiss ass. and even if you donāt agree with me on that, the presence of a female clone is a joke and treated as an anomaly.
so iāll stop referring to women as women when they arenāt used as vessels to push the male writers misogyny. so basically i wonāt stop referring to the women and girls as women and girls.

look at elita firestar and chromia in this autobot organizational chart tv magazine illustration. they're beautiful
Did you know Moonracer has a mirror. It was in the script for The Search for Alpha Trion, but it never made it into the show. She's probably admiring herself or checking for blemishes, she is quite proud of her frame according to her bio. She'll let nothing crack that mirror.
Art by @fonpyr! Wonderful work, thanks again!
Screenshot of the portion of the script where she pulls out her mirror below.
screenshot redraw of the scene i keep rewatching bc oh my gosh guys, he loves those kids so much i'm going to punch the moon

hello transformers fandom. your challenge today is to talk about a female transformer without calling her a femme or fembot. you must say one thing you like about her that doesnāt involve her relationship to a man and you also cannot describe her as a āgirlbossā. good luck.
