Like, I am open to the reading that Takumi Shu does have a cultural bias towards the unfairness inherent in Japanese legal system for the defense attorney as the "default" view of justice system. It is the culture one grew up in and it's very hard for one to unlearn that sort of cultural background on how things like that should look unless one does extensive work on unlearning it. However, that's a very different thing than what most westerners argue, which is that he consciously wrote the game to be a protest when, like, he was just trying to make a point-and-click investigation puzzle game with an antagonistic relationship between the main character and most of the cast. He says as much. It's one thing for these people to have a reading and another to confidently ascribe motivation to the author that doesn't exist, especially if the motivation sounds really really racist to say out loud like "the only way to get traction while criticizing the legal system in Japan is through anime and video games."
