That Lotus Pond is a clear, tangible symbol that Jin Zixuan loves Jiang Yanli in a way no one else in the story does. In almost all of her relationships, Jiang Yanli takes care of the other party. She takes care of her brothers, her parents, and even to a certain extent madame Jin. Then the stupid rich boy who has a reputation for being spoiled and arrogant builds her a lotus pond, with his own two hands. This takes a lot of physical effort ánd requires research and practice and he does it all so that she’ll feel appreciated and at home in her new house. He takes care of her in such a tangible and thoughtful way and it feels like this detail should have always been there. After years of being the one gluing her family together, someone is now enthousiastically offering to build her a home. To make something together. Jin Zixuans’ literal words are ‘I’m willing to make you a new Lotus Pier.’ And THIS is what makes her truly decide to marry him. It doesn’t just make the relationship more believable, but it ties the themes of Jin Zixuans’ and Jiang Yanli’s characters together so neatly. It’s honestly the most romantic thing in all of Mo Dao Zu Shi’s canons
