Two Siberian Kittens

Jinksy (male, primarily black, prone to gradual changes in the color of his fur) and Claudia (female, brown tabby, the titular brain) are litter mates. Born June 7, 2013, at 7 Cedars Ranch in Colorado, the kittens made their way to Nova Scotia at the very end of August 2013, where they now live with and are adored shamelessly by their monkeys. The kittens are named for Claudia Donovan and Steve Jinks from Warehouse 13. Claudia's name is entirely appropriate. Jinksy's is not, but since it's a kickass cat name, the monkeys are unconcerned by the incongruity. The kittens' Tall Monkey is extremely allergic to cats. On June 6, 2013, the Girl Monkey first heard of the existence of Siberians, a hypoallergenic breed of large, tremendously fluffy cats with which many allergy sufferers can coexist. Jinksy and Claudia were born the next day. Make of that what you will. [Disclaimer: Our success with Siberians' hypoallergenic properties is no guarantee that they'll be a viable option for everyone, of course; "hypoallergenic" is NOT the same as "non-allergenic", and experimenting with fur samples or something is advised. But for us, they've been nothing short of amazing.]

Kittens on parade!

May 3, 2015: Jinksy and Claudia’s first venture out into the world on their new harnesses and leashes. (With a bonus appearance by my husband in one pic as he holds Jinksy.)

So many dead leaves out back! The snow stayed so long this year, and on the kittens’ first day no one had dealt with the debris yet.

These pics (all by Kas) are from April 26 and May 3, 2015, taken while we got the kittens used to wearing their harnesses indoors and then got them ready to go outside. May 3 was the day of their first venture outside!

As you can see in the bottom pair of pics, treats were employed as shameless bribery to help them think the harnesses were A Good Thing, since the kittens obviously had no way/reason to connect them to eventually going outside...

(Three posts within a couple of hours! Such a day may never come again.)

And finally, a few photos seolh took of both kittens together (March 2015)!

It always make me a bit nervous when they’re both on that ledge, as in pics 3-5--they often start wrestling out of nowhere, and the stairs down to the main level are on one side, and I’m scared one of them will slip or get knocked off. But so far this hasn’t happened. *fingers crossed*

That said, I LOVE the last shot. *^^*
