This is my idea of what Will Graham’s archetype chart might look like. His deep connection to animals clearly indicates the Nature Child as his inner child. The Victim, Prostitute and Saboteur are found in everyones chart and represent challenges we all must face. Will does not seem to have self-esteem issues so he has likely overcome the challenge of the Victim archetype. Will also has pretty strong integrity so he likely has mastered the prositute within. Will does have self-saboatging tendencies though, specifically when it comes to Hannibal.

The Hermit seeks solitude to focus on inner life and the Shadow Hermit does so out of a desire to withdraw from society due to negative feeling. Will and Hannibal are both “loners” but Will’s is more in line with the Hermit, while Hannibals is more aligned with the God archetype. 

The Gambler is a willingness to follow intuition even when others doubt you. Will is also willing to gamble with the lives of others as well as his own to do what needs to be done.

The Martyr can be seen in Will’s willingness to sacrifice his own well being to catch killers and save others despite the trauma it causes himself and in his final decision to jump of the cliff with Hannibal in order to stop- he is willing to scarifice himself. 

The Destroyer is present in Will at numerous stages of the show. Will is ready to destroy everything to catch Hannibal and then he becomes willing to destroy everything to be with him. There are too many examples to go into here. 

The Avenger became active with Will’s desire to catch Garrett Jacob Hobbs, but then in jail he was his own avenger with Hannibal as his target. The shadow avenger is resorting to violence in the name of a cause seen in the end when he kills Francis Dolarhyde with Hannibal.

Hannibal brings out and evokes the dormant Artist archetype that laid hidden within Will. We see the artist finding expression in Will’s designs.

What I believe Hannibals’s archetype chart might look like. Starting from the top left, The Inner Child would be the Orphan, given that his parents died when he was young and he appears to be mostly a loner while attempting to create a surrogate family with Will and Abigail. The Victim, the Saboteur and the Prosititute are archetypal challenges that we all must face and so are included in every persons chart. Hannibal has likely conquered the challenges they hold of self-esteem, integrity, and choices and so is not bothered with these issues. The only way Hannibal tends to self sabatoge is in regards to his ego and his love for Will.

The Vampire archetype is very dominant in Hannibal in that he sustains himself on the blood of others and is always a perfect gentleman about it. He is also narcissistic and seems preternatural at times. He feeds on others literally and emotionally.

The Alchemist is very present within Hannibal as he transforms his patients and often demonstrates the alchemy of truths and lies. His whole point with Will is bringing about a transformation.

The Hedonist has a taste for pleasure and commits himself passionately to enjoying whatever he takes on. He is sensual and loves to celebrate the beauty of life and is always in the moment. Murder being the ultimate appetite to be fed.

The Engineer is present in Hannibals talent for Social Engineering situations to go his way. He engineers or designs situations and delights in watching them play out.

The Father came out in regards to Misha and Abigail and he wanted to be a father with Will and their surrogate family. This archetype is also active in many of patient relationships.

The Artist is obviously in everything Hannibal does. Cooking, killing, writing, drawing, everything. He is a creator.

The God archetype can be seen in that Hannibal seems to see himself as an equal to God and believes he can kill and destroy because he is above those whom he consumes, he does not do it out of anger. He also uses his power to control people which is the shadow side of the god archetype.
