3 Diverse Romance Films (in full) With Couples of Color on Youtube...
So, this is a quick compilation, but these are a few classic and obscure romance films with just POC from the 90′s, for those who are romance lovers who may want more less pale than is typical. …And also, because I think some tend to think of interracial romance in a very “black and white” way.
UNBOWED
This one is super low-budget and the visual film quality, which is full of scratches and sepia tones, feels like something from the 60′s. But you can absolutely tell this is a labor of love for the two women who nurtured it to life, writer Mildred Inez Lewis and director Nanci Rossov.
Starring Tembi Locke and Jay Tavare, it is about the forced assimilation of the Lakota-Sioux; in particular one such group forced to be “re-educated” at an HBCU, in the late 1800′s.
It’s traditional Harlequin-style tropes (teacher/student here) in an under-seen/told historical setting.
I watched wishing this had a better budget and support for the times, but to this day… This film remains one, all surviving players are proud to have put on film. I hope one day someone puts in the effort to do some restoration work on the film and audio quality or does something else interesting with this same historical setting.
MISSISSIPPI MASALA
One of Mira Nair’s early efforts, I remember seeing this movie in a tiny arthouse as a young girl and just adoring it. About an Indian family expelled from Uganda who moves to Mississippi after Idi Amin took power… I remember even as a kid being impressed with the deft hand this film wielded in dealing with racism against black people, from other POC.
This is also notable for being one of perhaps two(?) full-blown romances that Denzel at the peak of his hotness got to star in, playing love scenes and all (the other is Mo’ Better Blues)…And of course, it’s indie. As much as Hollywood loves his acting the were terrified of his sex appeal…
This is a gem, folks.
ROGERS AND HAMMERSTEINS’ CINDERELLA
What can be said about this formative classic, that hasn’t already been said? Brandy, this peak black girl star of the 90′s played this pure role, in her trademark braids.
Whitney and her blessing of a production company gifting young girls with relatable role models (she produced this and The Princess Diaries too). An Asian man getting to be the desirable romantic lead (if you get the chance look up the story of Sessue Hayakawa. As is similar with black men, white Hollywood is threatened by their sexuality). The “black queen and a white king had a Filipino prince/son” casting.
The music. The costumes. The joy…. *sigh*
Okay so it turns out that Danny Phantom was the worst possible old show to get a sudden and inexplicable hyperfixation on, because apparently the fandom's been going full tilt since 2004.
Usually when I get a hyperfixation outta nowhere for a completed series, I spend a week, maybe two going through old fanfiction and fanart, and then I burn through what's left, and then I'm done.
Danny Phantom has a pile of fanfiction and fanart that's been growing steadily since, and I cannot emphasize this enough, 2004, and there are still people putting out multiple things every single day. I'm already like 20 AUs in and I've been up till 2:00am every single night this week because I've found a new enormous fascinating fanfic that was so good I could not physically make myself sleep until I finished it.
Help?
I am being pursued through the wilderness by a very friendly and incredibly supportive mob

“Spiders”
A bit late, but here’s Ectober’s Prompt for October 29th: Spiders. I did the best I could to stay on topic (ie poorly). Warnings for copious nerdy-references.
“I always forget that you guys can do that,” Sam said, unable to look away.
Danielle, walking along the ceiling of Sam’s basement in her homemade Halloween Costume, continued to sing off-key. “Spider-Dan, Spider-Dan, does whatever a Spider-Dan does.”
Danny shrugged. “Yeah, we don’t really need to use it really often, what with the flying and all.”
“Can she swing, from a web? Even better: she can fly.”
“This is painful to listen to,” Danny informed her.
“More painful than the Amazing Spider Man 2?” Danielle asked.
“I thought we swore a clone-cousin blood pact to never speak of that again.”
“Y’know,” Sam said. “As hilarious as the thought of one of my nosy parents seeing you and having a heart attack, you should probably come down eventually.”
She flapped a dismissive hand. “Psht, relax, Sam. I know how to-”
Everyone turned to the the footsteps pounding down the stairs by twos. Sam exhaled with relief as Tucker hopped down the last two steps, grinning proudly in his crisp Starfleet Uniform. “’Sup, local lifeforms.”
“Oh my God,” Sam gaped. “Just when I thought he couldn’t be any more of a nerd, he’s is boldly nerding where no one has nerded before.”
“That joke really doesn’t help your case, Sam,” Danny said.
Tucker put his hands on his hips in mock affront. “Hey yeah, glass houses, Sam!” He looked admiringly around the Manson’s fully decked out basement. “Even ridiculously expensive imported glass houses.”
“Point taken.”
Tucker kept glancing around the basement. “Hey Danny, wasn’t Elle supposed to be-”
“HI TUCKER,” she reappeared on the ceiling, two inches from his face.

11/26/2018 loss, pillow, wrap
All day random people have been coming up to Stiles and say things like “sorry for you loss” The thing is he has no clue what they are talking about. The pack is safe, except he hasn’t spoken to Derek in a few days. That’s when he realizes that maybe he’s been avoiding him. As soon as the last bell rings Stiles is seeking Derek out.
Before he can get on foot inside the loft he is wrapped in a tight werewolf strength hug. Behind Derek is Stiles pillow, shredded. “I can explain.” Derek assures him.

The fact that nobody is talking about Secret’s new commercials pisses me off
This makes me so happy ☺️
Yesssss😭 I damn near cried
I LOVE THIS OMFG
YOOOOOOOOOOO THATS AMAZING!!!!!
Can someone help me understand I wanna cry to ..I feel something went over my head
The woman in the bathroom is trans and is scared that if she comes out of the stall the women that walked in will insult or harass her. but when she comes out they compliment her on her dress instead. The add ends with saying “stress tested for women.” It means Secret is including trans women in their definition of women.
I have reblogged this three times now, each one mentioning the fact that Secret not only included a trans woman, but that they /had the other women compliment her dress and treat her with respect/. I will reblog this every time I see it because it’s so important. More companies should involve trans people in their marketing - we do exist. Props to Secret for getting in on this movement. It makes me really happy to see more of the trans community represented in daily television.
The Dread Wolf
by Dexterous_Sinistrous
“Who … who am I to wed?”A small flash of guilt covered the king’s features before he was able to recover.
“Your union will join the royal families—joining our family to the Hales.”
Dread and sorrow sunk in Stiles’ stomach as he closed his eyes. There was only one Hale left unharmed by the great fire that nearly wiped out the entire royal family—the Dread Wolf of Triskelia, Crowned King Derek Hale.

Two teen brothers build mobile web browser
on May 28, 2015 / in Education, News 9:15 am / Comments
By Dayo Adesulu
The duo of Osine Ikhianosime and Anesi Ikhianosime have rekindled hope in the future of nigeria as they entered their names in the catalogue of application developers when they built a mobile web browser that is already in use globally. Osine Ikhianosime 13, and Anesi Ikhianosime 15 who co-developed ‘Crocodile Browser Lite’ were born of same parents and both are Year nine and 11 students of Greensprings School, Anthony Campus, Lagos. While both brothers write code, Anesi designs the user interface.
Osine Ikhianosine and Anesi Ikhianosime
Osine and Anesi launched the mobile browser on the Mobango app store before moving to Google Play Store to try and reach a wider audience. As you read this piece, the browser currently has around 100 to 500 downloads and they do not have ads in the app yet. They both began developing an Android web browser, which they named Crocodile Browser Lite, about a year ago out of boredom.
Due to their strong interest in technology, they decided to create a functional, fast browser for feature and low end phones because, according to them, “We were fed up with Google Chrome.” Osine who told TechCabal in his pitch mail said: ‘’I write the code, my brother designs it.”
Born April 28, 2001, his interest in computers began at age seven. It was also at this age that he and his brother, Anesi Ikhianosime, who was 9 at the time, came up with the idea of starting a company.
Recalling how it started, Osine said, they first named it ‘Doors’ with Microsoft’s Windows, but when they discovered that the name was already in use, they had to change the name to BluDoors. Relating his experience, Osine said: ‘’When we decided to learn to code at age 12 and 14 respectively, I didn’t let my uncle’s belief that it would be a tough feat to achieve deter me.”
On his part, Anesi said: “I learnt to code by myself. I started in 2013, I used sites like Code Academy, Code Avengers and books like ‘Android for Game Development’ and ‘Games for Dummies’,” said Anesi. Meanwhile their mother, Mrs Ngozi Ikhianosime, who is a Mathematics teacher said: “Osine could already use a PC before he could read at age three. It is all he does since he learnt to code.”
The mother who ascribed the success to Greensprings Schools, said students of the school have access to computer and internet facilities, just as personal laptops are made available to each of them at home. “After Anesi is through with his secondary school education, he will attend A levels, after which he will go to MIT in Boston for his first degree, because the university has the facilities he needs to learn.” She said.
Their father Mr Philip Ikhianosime, who is the Head of Management Services and Human Resource Manager at an Insurance Company says the boys developed interest in PC usage very early. He agrees as well, that his children’s school is very instrumental in their continued interest in programming.
Anesi says that he’d like to develop another app that solves real social problems, such as traffic and communication. The brothers are releasing a new version of Crocodile Browser Lite 3.0 this April.
