It's six sentences, and Aydenne's having a bad time, even if there is cake.

Illario stood there with a mug in one hand and a plate of cake—crowned with golden baked apple slices, arranged like he’d tried very hard—balanced precariously on top. His hair was wind‑tossed, his shirt slightly askew, as if he’d jogged there and wanted credit for it. “I finally found you,” Illario said, breathlessly implying he wanted Aydenne to notice he was breathless. “You weren’t in the garden, or the courtyard, or the kitchens, or—Maker, do you know how many stairs this place has?” Aydenne blinked, expressionless. “…I’m working.”

I'm having a day where I'm working on too many WIPs at once because that's what my brain wants to do. Here's five sentences from one of them.

Gemma had never found herself in such a dire situation before.

Surrounded.

Cut off from the one exit.

Out of knives. Out of poison. Unable to use magic.

All she had left were her negotiation skills.

Lucanis looked at her with an unfamiliar expression. “You saved my life. What choice did I have?”

Amara felt her breath catch. “What?”

“I would have clung to anyone who showed me kindness after my imprisonment,” he continued. He sounded - bored, maybe. His expression remained stubbornly enegmatic. “But you do not have to worry. The demon has grown attached to you. I do not think he will let me leave."

“What does the other guy look like?”

“Dead,” Lucanis deadpanned.

She paused a moment, not looking at Lucanis and he wanted to kick himself. Why had he said that?

But then the healer grinned, still looking somewhere off to the side. “Now that is interesting.” She looked back at Lucanis, meeting his eyes, her smile softening. “Justice says you did the world a great service today.”

This is from our Pirate AU. I tried to think of Riley's favorite thing and well...it would be Lydia's grave gold. And in this AU he has broken her trust. He must work to get it and her gold back

"I would have never thought that you would choose to stay here," he said with a serious voice while retrieving a silver crow skull ring from the pouch. Lydia gasped when he took her hand and put it on her finger. Then he retrieved another one: a golden adder coiling around a jade stone. "I will never forgive myself for putting you in this position. For making you sell out everything to help people. Even your grave gold."

It took him a few days, but with Gemma's help, he tracked down every piece of jewellery Lydia pawned to fund the little clinic she was running with Anders. He should have known she would be too proud to go back home. And that her good heart would direct her to use her skills in helping others. He put all her rings in their rightful places and suppressed the urge to pepper her hands with kisses. He knew that if he were to be in her good graces again, he would need to work hard for it.

The two walked through a district severely different than where they were staying. Rougher around the edges and closer to where they lived and worked in Treviso. The change was enough for Juan to ease up just a bit, though the previous day made sure they didn't relax too much.

Jericho, on the other hand, was feeling much better after Juan had spent much of the day before attempting to calm him down and help him relax. It had been just what he needed. Reaching for their hand, he gave them a warm smile. "Are you feeling okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. You?" They squeezed his hand a bit tighter than they usually might have.

"I'm good," he squeezed their hand back and leaned over to kiss their cheek. "Really, I am. I thought you might like this part of the city a little better than where we were yesterday."

"I do! It's a lot more relaxed. Less snobby."

"I hate Hightown," Jericho muttered under his breath before turning back to Juan with a smile. "What do you want to do first?"

"Anything you want to do. I don't really know of anything fun to do around here. You know, besides bars and night clubs and whatever." Juan took a deep breath. "I've worked in the Crown District in Antiva City before but everything in Hightown felt personal."

Jericho slowed his pace, a concerned crease forming between his brows. "Personal? How so?"

Juan gave him a look then shrugged. "Ah… It's not important. It's just different in Antiva. I guess it's more socially fluid than here."

This is a little thing for Rook week.

Ulrike woke with a jolt, though for once not from fear; but from a need to search. Yet, just as his bare feet hit the cold stone of his lighthouse room, the chill traveling up his spine, he remembered. Shoulders slumped, he leaned forward, head in his hands. In his youth, he was angry and stupid. And he took that anger out on the one thing he had from when he was found. Remembering how he tried-and failed-to rip the small blanket in half. When his strength failed he marched over to the fire pit and tossed it in.

A little something from the Regency AU, where Lydia and @woundedsoul12 end up in arranged marriage.

"Last night I was fucked by a gardener, stable boy and butler. At the same time. On your desk."

"That's lovely," Riley Mercar took a sip of tea from his cup, looking out the window, immersed in his thoughts.

Lydia rested her forehead on her hands, not minding that she bumped the egg cup, sending the egg to the floor with a loud crack. Maker knew she tried. For the last month, ever since their wedding, she tried so much for this to work. She tried to be the perfect wife. She tried to always look nice, always behave, always smile. But she had no idea what to do to appease her husband.

"And to think my father thought you a sophisticated and respectable gentleman…" she snorted under her nose to herself.

"And you were supposed to be intelligent and educated, according to your father," Riley's voice was… bored. She looked up and saw him looking at her with the interest one would give a two-week old newspaper.
