Has Hampton ever tried relationships? And how does he feel about them, is he neutral or actively averse to the idea of being in one? I was just wondering as I was pondering my own place on the aroace spectrum earlier.
Gonna hedge a wee bit on this answer because 1) anything we don't put into the text of the show isn't canon so as always, throw it away if you disagree, and 2) we haven't tended to delve into too too much of our trio's pre-London days thus far for a few reasons. Other than the mention we have in the show of their families hoping he and Madge would get married one day, it's not like Hampton was the first/only son of someone with a title to pass along or anything, so would have had a bit of (relative) luxury to not need to think about or try those things. But also, Hampton is someone that, for all his curiosity about the world around him, isn't all that curious about his own internal life and the question of why he might want some things and not want others--he just knows the wants and the not-wants and leaves it there, for better and for worse. He's largely reactionary, and in these matters, it's not really a reaction of disgust, more, "let's keep that over there, please and thank you."
