Jemma’s anxiety is an issue that we deal with on a regular basis. For example, when we go on walks, a big truck or a bicycle or a mom with a stroller or a parked lawn mower can have her bolting back to the house. As such she’s always on edge. But if Jemma trusted me even a bit, she’d see I wasn’t scared and then would not be scared in turn. OR she’d run to me instead of to the house, potentially into traffic and endangering herself. She never runs to me. How do I get her to see me as her safe place? Is it stupid to think I could ever achieve that level of trust with her?
