Hi everyone! Iβm Jazz, and Iβm currently working on my PhD dissertation on the experiences of queer K-pop fans. In particular, Iβm interested in queer fans of K-pop girl groups, and Iβm hoping to interview folks about your experiences within queer fan spaces, as well as being a fan of the artist you love! This research explores the intersection of fan participation and queer identity, particularly in relation to girl groups and βgirl crushβ concepts. It looks at how queer fans of female K-pop idols build community, interpret queerness, and connect with one another across different platforms. If that sounds like you, Iβd love to hear from you!
Whatβs involved?
A 60 min interview (either on Zoom or in person).
In-person interviews are possible within the next 4 months if youβre based in Vancouver, London (ON), Seoul, or Busan.
Participation is voluntary, confidential, and you can skip any questions or stop at any time!
