*HOW SHE MET YOUR DAD/FATHER FIGURE: Growing up I always heard two versions of this story. My dad always said that he found her wandering the streets and saved her from a life that she did not want no part of. My mother always told me that she met him while he was stationed in Russia and they fell in love when he left so did, she for what she called a better life after finally getting her parents consent after many months of âreckoningâ.
*WHAT YOUR RELATIONSHIP IS/WAS LIKE: My relationship with her was complicated. For a while we got a long after a while we did not, when we escaped our father, she became the monster we escaped from making my life especially a living, breathing, walking hell. There were some good times however, the bad far outweighed the good though. By the time of her death our relationship completely deteriorated beyond repair.
HER FAVORITE FOOD: Any Russian food; Also, she loved Italian.
HER FAVORITE DRINK: Water; She was not a soda drinker, as far as alcohol goes; Vodka Straight.
*THE BEST THING SHE COOKS/COOKED: My Mother loved to cook she would always spend hours in the kitchen preparing meals. The one thing that she cooked that I loved was her Chicken Kiev. The way she prepared it I had nor have I ever tasted it that way since.
*SOMETHING SHE LOVES/LOVED: My mother had a very eclectic personality and there was a lot of things that she loved. The one thing, aside from cooking, that I always remember her telling me that she loved was watching the night sky and knowing at any given time there was someone, somewhere was doing the same. She would always say that it connected humanity on a deeper, almost spiritual level.
*HER FAVORITE PLACE: She loved New York this was, to my knowledge was her favorite place to be. However, she also talked about how much she loved and at times missed home. She also when traveled love to go to Barcelona, Spain.
HER FAVORITE COLOR: She would often say she could not pick just one favorite color, often she would talk about an affinity for the colors Blue and Pink.
*HOW SHE DRESSES/DRESSED: She had a very business fashion sense. She did not really have a business, but she dressed like it. She also dressed the part of a Russian princess, that was the majority of her wardrobe.
*HER HABITS OR HOBBIES: She didnât have a lot of hobbies she thought they were a waste of time. She had a daily habit of drinking three times a day like clockwork. Breakfast, while she cooked, and at night before bed.
*A MOVIE, SHOW, OR BOOK SHE LIKES/LIKED: She wasnât very much into television. However, she was obsessed with âto kill a mockingbirdâ both the book and the movie. I actually have her book copy of it. It was the last thing she gave me before I left for college.
*SOMETHING SHE TAUGHT YOU: I donât know if it was intentional or not, but she taught me that some people just arenât loveable. As a matter of fact, some people are completely incapable of it. She also taught me how to not be as a person. This is something that I am thankful for.
*SOMETHING SHE IS/WAS GOOD AT: She was always good at cooking. It was something that always just came natural to her. Iâm sure that she was good at other things too but growing up that was the one thing that always stuck in my head I use to stand in the kitchen in amazement and just watch as she prepared meals.
*SOMETHING SHE ALWAYS SAYS/SAID: She said a lot of things but there was one thing she would say that always stuck with me even to this day. She would say âYou canât always control what people do or say, however, you can control how much of a ass hole you areâ.
*SOMETHING YOU DO/DID TOGETHER: There was not a lot that we did together as I got older. When I was in junior high school though she took me to Barcelona for three weeks. And one time before my brother and sister was born we did go to Russia in what would be her last trip there.
*SOMETHING SHE LOVES/LOVED ABOUT YOU: I have no idea. That was something she took with her to her grave if anything at all. My mother was not a very emotional type. She was not the type of person to say I love you a lot. Iâm sure there was something, but it wasnât something that she shared with me.
*SOMETHING YOU LOVE ABOUT HER: Her strength and determination. Despite all her faults, and she had many of them, she was very strong and determined person. Some would even say stubborn and apparently, I picked it up from her.
*A MEMORY OF HER THAT YOU HOLD DEAR: Unfortunately, there are not many memories of her that I hold dear. Most of my memories her are ones that I have spend a lifetime trying to forget. If I were to pick one though, however, it would be her getting me, my brother, and sister away from our father. I often wish though that she had not turned into him.
